Her latest film is about a woman coming back to the closed society she grew up in and stirring the pot, for herself and those she left behind. Rachel sat with David Poland to discuss the film, her career, and more on the day her second pregnancy was announced.

I love how you can *see* her listening. She’s so attentive, articulate, and insightful with her answers.
This is a very Rachel Weisz thing. I believe it is how she rallied Academy voters to focus on her brilliant Constant Gardener performance and won an Oscar. One by one, she spent time and listened to people and engaged like a real human... hard to do when you are the object of focus in award season.

@@dp30 I'm not sure if I followed you here correctly..How did Rachel "rally the Academy voters"? Is it not her Brilliant Performance in "The Constant Gardener" that earned her the Prestigious Oscar?
I first realised I was gay when I watched her in The Mummy when I was younger, couldn't take my eyes off her the whole time. Now I'm married to a beautiful woman and I know that I'm super blessed. Anyways I Love Rachel here especially..she is such an active listener..so eloquent and Weisz!

regalsmartie11 I am 35. and i had unhappy relationships with boys until about 20. i had two relationships that lasted 4 and 4 years and a half. i don't fall in love easily. i just don't want to think anymore that women couples has less problems than heterossexual couples. i desire all the happiness for you both. and always trust each other

heloisa poetisa thanks for sharing. Oh dont get me wrong it's definitely hard work! Any relationship is regardless of gender. Coz its just two humans with egos and trying to build a life together but also to respect each others own unique life paths. Despite higher emotional intelligence it is still not easy. Not even for us. To answer your question, well we live in Europe and equal marriage was only legalised lately. Thank you for your kind wishes I wish you happiness in love too! Where are you from? regalsmartie11 i am from salvador. the first city of brazil. despite of other political problems, here we have equal marriage and a same sex couple can raise a child together.
She is bright and thoughtful, and she also has the most seductive eyes I’ve ever seen. My word.
Did this guy prep for this at all? Good thing Rachel is so patient. Such a talented and underrated actress. She and Rachel McAdams are brilliant in this movie.

@@dp30 well you should set questions beforehand cause it was quite erratic and hard to listen to. And ofc her being interrupted a lot. Felt like a very uncomfortable interview
Why do they always say an actresses age ? Then stumble to find the words not to insult her. Great actress!
Love her! Such an intelligent and articulate woman, she does look a bit tired as she's super busy these days and just announced her pregnancy. I'm so thankful for this interview omg and can't wait to watch the film!

She's a 10 in my book. Her smile, voice, intellect, is to be in love with. She is pregnant, her hormones are fluctuating, so it's expected changes in her emotions.

Great interview BUT, why so many questions about age? OMG, can we get past this already?
The restraint she showed at 17:21 when David said, "you're still playing sexually active women". As if women stop having sex at a certain age?! Take my hat off to you, Rachel Weisz!
The point of the question was that the industry creates that falsehood, not that I personally think there is an age limit to being sexy.
I really wish there was more DISOBEDIENCE content. It feels like the interviewer is exhausting poor Rachel. But she is perpetually gracious.

You can see she's actually thinking her answers through and the questions are great, not just another mindless interviewer asking her about the sex scene, you're actually talking to her and picking her brain. She loved Shape of Water 😍😍😍 I never considered those movies to be alike but she's right, in both the characters are looking to be who they are, to love who they want, to rebel against the establishment and the usual conventions that they'd been restrained by.

The content of internview is kind of deep. I could listen to her career and her feeling in deep and wind range of extent, and it was really interesting. Also, she is very attentive, too. I love this one.

I had that same reaction. But she said that she admired some director who looks for unconscious actions from an actress, rather than overly-planned readings, so her seeming lack of attentiveness might be an advantage.
I wouldn't go so far cause I don't know if she's like that all the time or if it was just in that particular moment.
Maybe she had to rush to get there, or she had too much on her mind, or she is distracted by nature, or she had received important news right before the interview. Anything is possible! :)

All the bumbling around when talking about her age... what did you want her to say? "Im so very lucky that I'm old and can still get parts". Wtf?
No. I was trying to speak - yes, bumblingly - to the fact that at 47, she is still playing a kind of youth that the movie industry generally pulls away from women at 40. And I didn't want her to say anything specific. Sometimes, like in a real conversation, one floats ideas that are not fully formed and it goes where it goes or it doesn't go anywhere. Apologies if it doesn't please you.

I appreciate this one on one interview. However, I felt like the interviewer was unprepared and stumbled sooo many times. ( but I may act that way in front of RW). I was really hoping for more questions about DISOBEDIENCE...and really questions on her age and roles?

Muriel Hepworth - I totally agree...I was kind of shocked that so little discussion was actually about Disobedience. I am grateful for DP/30. interviews and really appreciate them but in this case I was really bummed. Also, I felt for Rachel regarding the age comment....I think it's a very tricky and sensitive subject to bring up to a woman/actress. She is so classy and handled it well.

She is very easy going and accommodating in this interview but the interviewer is making hard work of it, and his questions are quite boring and stupid. Delve into the political, ideological, philosophical and cultural issues rather than these mechanical and irrelevant questions.

Interviewer should articulate and pick better questions. The whole subject of age was un-necessary in my opinion she’s able to take on the roles she wants we should stray from pinning age as what your stuck with

Fascinating standard for a conversation... only throwing pitches into the zone of the obvious. You probably have not seen my work before. I don't set any questions. I don't go in looking for specific answers. I honestly try to have a conversation. I know this is odd, but it is what I do and, like Rachel, why people keep coming back.
Her husband brings in multi millions playing that silly bond fantasy. Haven’t a clue what she does but no doubt it’s very comfortable.
That really awkward moment when you know who her husband is but she’s the one with the oscar...
I just don't like her. She is very above it all, even at the end when she laughs so fake. I watched the other dp/30 interviews, the ones with her are always uncomfortable to watch as she seems so disengaged. Great interview as always though

Rachel and I have an odd chemistry. I should probably do an interview with her and just talk about some non-show biz thing she cares about. I find her very comfortable before we shoot and after... and less so on camera... not sure why. Perhaps she feels obliged to give "good" answers when being interviewed. And i don't want to invade her tightly held privacy, though there are some very personal things that I feel like she would talk about freely and others she would really not.
I agree with you about the odd chemistry. I love your chemistry with Cate Blanchett.
