The Grand Tour is an album by American country music artist George Jones, released in 1974 as his fifth album for Epic Records. It peaked at #11 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and contained the hit title track, which reached a peak of #1 in August 1974.
"Once You've Had the Best" is a ballad written and originally recorded by Johnny Paycheck. It is best remembered for the rendition recorded by George Jones, who scored a #3 hit with it in late 1973. "Once You've Had the Best" originally appeared on Paycheck's 1973 album Mr. Lovemaker. The Jones version, which contains a more optimistic tone, became the singer's second Top 5 solo hit with Epic Records. Paycheck's first big break came when he was hired as the bass player for Jones' backing band the Jones Boys in the mid 1960s before beginning his own successful solo career a few years later. The pair would also record a duet album, Double Trouble, in 1980. "Once You've Had the Best" became a live staple for Jones, who almost always performed the song after the show opener as a gesture to his audience.
George Glenn Jones (September 12, 1931 - April 26, 2013) was an American musician, singer and songwriter. He achieved international fame for his long list of hit records, including his best known song "He Stopped Loving Her Today", as well as his distinctive voice and phrasing. For the last twenty years of his life, Jones was frequently referred to as the greatest living country singer.

LYRICS:
I'm so glad to have you back within these arms of mine
I can finally close my eyes and get some rest
Never once did I think of finding someone new
'Cause there's nothing better once you've had the best
You're the very thing they sing about in love songs
And one mistake don't mean you've failed the test
And as you lay beside me softly sleeping, this I know
There's nothing better once you've had the best
Within your arms I've had the best and I think the world should know
I don't care what you've said or done I'll always love you so
You've got more love in your little finger than all the rest
And there's nothing better once you've had the best
No, there's nothing better once you've had the best
Guilty
George was one of the best 🎉country artists if not the best
The world is and was a better place for all because we had George Jones here for awhile singing his songs that we so enjoyed thank you for playing his songs yet today I will always listen to George Jones
The best country singer ever
George is the very best!
I could literary listen to this man all day and night. Not only America, but the rest of the world has been blessed with an individule dedicated to Country Music during his entire career. I pitty the world of music when God decides to pull him towards the light towards heaven like so many will happen to us and say, "Come Home, Come Home...."
Yes I do listen to George sing everyday, sometimes for a few hours to more other days,I'm in Australia and just love this man's voice.
You are right ... Look at it now .. 10 yrs later totally pathetic .
The greatest country singer - period. George could sing "Three Blind Mice" and it would be a hit.
George is one of best to hold a microphone
Beautiful writing music
What a great stylist. Loved him. Saw him '81, small theater in Baltimore - Painters Mill. Saw Merle there, a few others. But George, he was really cool. King of Country, undisputed in the 60s.
Mr Jones, you were appreciated, especially when you kept getting up there for us, like this one in 2010. You're missed.
Just the name George Jones says it all I wonder if there's anyone who can fill his shoes
I Will Always LOVE you GEORGE JONES, the ONE and only🎤🎸🎼💕💕💕

Randy Travis has an amazing version of this song as well.
It was written by the great Johnny Paycheck. It is a disgrace that Johnny Paycheck is not in the Hall of Fame and pop singers like Glenn Campbell, Kenny Rodgers and Barbara Mandrell are. What a crock.
Randy travis
im sure tammy and georgette were the best for u george
Ron Gaddis on bass. Not Bobby Moore.
Thanks :)
What does he say at 1:21? "As you lay beside me softly, _ _ _ _ this I know..." That word is supposed to be "sleeping", but he says something else, and Ron Gaddis, his bass player, thought it was hilarious.
He says nakedness
Please go to the Randy Travis site and hear a really good rendention of this song...So much better than George,,,But I love Randy....
I AGREE, RANDY SINGS IT BETTER!
lola cook That was rude and incorrect, ask Randy Travis himself.
Randy Travis is not bad but y'all are talking about George Jones his voice can bring a tear to a glass eye
