I would love to take my Onan genny in to Cummins for service but damn, their pricing is crazy for genset service.

Hi Peter and John…I just watch your video on Cummins Service. In the Cummins RV service, they list a 65-point chassis inspection. I’m looking to get my coach serviced soon and was trying to find out what the 65 points were. I haven’t been able to find out what the 65 points are. I reached out to Tampa Cummins and Corperate a couple week back and haven’t got a response. Would you by chance know what the 65 points are? Thank you
Hi Richard! We're not sure of the exact items on the list, but there are a ton of places under the rig that we know of things that get checked, including engine, fuel, and air system components, brakes, etc. We expect that in reality there are more than 65 points on some rigs, and less on others. When we've been filming, we've watched them inspect our wheel seals, suspension, steering linkage, fluids, lighting, and more. But we'd suggest that the best way to get a more concrete answer would be to call to make an appointment, and first ask them directly if they have a printed list of the items that get checked. When you reached out, was it via email? We've usually found that phone works best with a lot of shops.

Hi Guys,this is the Mittons and their Kittens ,we had our exhaust manifold replaced last year also,we have the 8.9 Cummings in our 2007 alfa gold, do you have the same engine? We are back in bullhead az for the winter hope you both are some where warm and well.🙂
Hi Evan! We’ve got the 400 hp ISL, which should be the same as yours. Great engine, especially with the manifold working, right!? 😄 We’re warm as well. We’ll be in that general part of the world (Havasu) for the Xscapers Bash in January. Safe travels.
Interesting, I thought it tooks weeks to get a service appointment and months to get anything serviced. You didn't touch on how long that whole process was. I know this is a commercial for service and I get it. I just keep hearing nightmare stories about being homeless for months because of the backlog. Did you have this problem at all? Thanks for the video!
Hi Trish. This isn't a commercial for service as much as a recommendation for a service provider who's repeatedly done a great job for us over many years. The horror stories you usually hear about RV service are more often related to shops that repair the "house" portion of the RV, rather than the chassis, which is what Cummins does. The only time we've ever had a long-ish wait for a repair at Cummins Coach Care was when their shop in Reno, NV required about week to fix an oil leak high on our engine block. It was a major repair, which is what took so long, but for routine maintenance, and anything other than a big repair job, our experience has been that we're in and out on the day our appointment was scheduled, or the next day at the latest.

Hi Gary! We’re pretty sure that all of the Cummins Coach Care facilities honored the discount, but not all of the other Cummins locations. There is a potential update coming by the way. We heard from Cummins yesterday that even though the discounts expired in February, they are likely to renew them within the next week or two. If they do, I hope it’s not too late for you to take advantage of it at a location that honors them.

How do you tow a 4wheel drive vehicle with an RV?

Looks good, but I see that the discounts expired February 7th. Will they be extended. I am due for the 1000 hour genset service so it is going to be a pricey service this year. I am looking at the Coach Care near Cincinnati and rather than a hard appointment they just want me to drop it off and give them a couple weeks. It works because I am not full time and have no trips planned in May. Not sure how well this would work if I were on the road full time.
Hi Tim! We’re waiting to here from Cummins about that exact topic (extending the discounts). We’ll reach back out, and provide an update as soon as we hear from them that they’re a “go” with that.
Quick follow up, Tim. We heard back from Cummins today that they expect to have a decision about extending the discount sometime next week. @@RVgeeks I saw that and dropped my Journey off to them this past Tuesday, doing the annual maintenance on the chassis plus the 1000 hour Mx on the genset. Also hoping they can find the leak in my chassis AC system.
@@timmyers3428 Excellent! Good luck on the A/C system, Tim. Cummins found ours, but it was just a leak in the hose right on top of the engine. They had a new one manufactured locally in town, and had it fixed the same day.
Excellent videos guys! However, I need to add, the Cummins/Onan Coach care service center in West Valley City, Utah refused to honor any discount. Not only that, they left my electrical bay door unlocked and open overnight along with stripping the bolts that attaches the rear engine bay door to the lifting mechanism. There was a massive communication failure between the Genset tech, service writer and mechanic which added over a week delay. Not a place I recommend.

We usually have Freightliner service our engine but they don’t do generators. Three ago we had our local Cummins dealer service our generator. Big mistake. They blew out our electrical system. With lots of back and forth they paid to fit things. We used other dealers after that. However, one day we were in a hurry and went back to our local Cummins dealer, another big mistake. This time they refused to fix things and it cost us $1200 at another service dealer to get the electrical system repaired. Guess we did not learn our lesson the first time.
We’re sorry to hear about your experience, Iggy. That is the total opposite of our many experiences with Cummins over our 18+ years on the road. Wondering if both of these incidents occurred at the same location?
@@RVgeeks Yes, at the same dealer in the same location. Nobody could determine why this happened but it did. I had not problem at other dealerships.
Again we’re sorry to hear about your experience, but we expect that it is a problem with that one particular dealer, as we have visited Cummins shops all over North America with zero problem in all this time. I hope everything is squared away and you’re safely back on the road.
