One of the most under appreciated and under rated bands EVER. These guys dont get the recognition for their pure talent, execution, and pure energy they always produced. These guys deserve to be on the same level as Slayer, Exodus, Testament, Sodom, Nuclear Assault and that group. Amazing how many people dont know this band, a true shame.
Man, can't believe I never got to see them live. And they even opened with my favorite DA song, "Death of Innocence". And seeing those Jackson Rhoads guitars makes me wish I still had mine. Might have to pick up another for old times sake.
Fucking life altering! I was blessed to witness the 80's metal years. So many awesome memories. This makes me want to drink and punch something. Gonna have to buy a case, get trashed, play all my old cassette tapes and re-live the days......Exciter,Dark Angel, Hallow's Eve, Helloween, Laaz Rockit, Exodus, Running Wild, Kreator, Piledriver, Onslaught, Nuclear Assault, Overkill....ahhhh the list goes on and on. Stay Metal!
Thanks for posting this FKN sick vid dude!!! Ive been a fan for many years and have Darkness Decends and Leave Scars but I have never seen a live vid of them. Cheers!!
I had this video from the Troc in Philly. It had Dark Angel,Death, and Forbidden. All the bands on that vid were impressive. This footage is from that vid.
I actually hanged around with these guys back in 88 thru 90 at the rehearsal studios in the city of Vernon, suburb of Los Angeles. Gene Hoglan was a really nice friendly person and the best fucking drummer. Armored Saint and Megadeth rehearsed there too, but Dark Fucking Angel was the best.
Truly one of the best trash bands I listened to, still listening to it in the car, and I must say they given a very good example how to play trash music at the best
"internal combustion plutonic rage the bodies create their own hell" Dark Angel was brilliant. Too bad they were so underrated... Must have seen them 10 times in and around Los Angeles back in the day. I know Darkness Descends was a song about the 4 Dark Judges in Judge Dredd. but it definitely fits the clusterfuck in Iraq much better.
Actually Ron hurt his neck, which pretty much killed the reunion. Of course I think they could get a new vocalist like Exodus did and it would rule all hell!!! Why aren't the Ultimate Revenge videos on DVD?
On the Dreams of Damnation site, it shows Jim hanging out with Don, his kids and Rob Yahn in Don's living room. They may not be best friends, but there is respect. I doubt that Gene would hold a grudge, not sure about Eric but again Don left 20 years ago!
gotta remember Alice in Chains was a different animal back in 1991. They were more metal, and not so mainstream grunge yet. "We Die Young" is a bad ass tune. Testament is my fav. Why not have all 4? Now that is a pants-shitting, head-splitting event right there!
"Controversy creates interest", you're certainly right about that... Almost out of questions: What exactly was the reason behind the song "Worms"? I mean I like/love Leave scars, but that one song just doens't belong.... In the end Ron, Eric and Gene joined other bands right?, leaving brett and you, there was no trying to get other people for Dark Angel?
@burningempire666 You got it! First Ultimate Revenge had Slayer, Exodus, and Venom! Fortunately, I, STILL, have my VHS copies of Ultimate Revenge and Ultimate Revenge 2! I just Dark Angel were opening for Slayer and Megadeth-instead of Testament. In my opinion, if they WERE-the Carnage tour would (EASILY) "edge" out the Clash of The Titans tour! Especially when the Clash...tour had, of ALL bands, Alice In Chains (??) opening.
Where was this filmed? I hear the singer say something about Philadelphia, there's no way it sounds this good if it was filmed in the electric factory. I don't recognize the venue though. Faster and heavier than Slayer ever was!
I added Nuclear Assault because when that name is mentioned more often than not theyre known where as Dark Angel is brutally unknown even to the old school thrashers. At least the ones I know personally.
"Hoglan is also better than Dave Lombardo" times that by about a hundred and you're close. Only thing going for Slayer is being allot more catchy. I think that's why Slayer caught on so much better, even though Dark Angel trumps them in talent. I am always amazed by how little self proclaimed "Metal heads" don't know who Dark Angel is. Not that they're connected, but Death and Possessed too... Amazing how many fans of a genre don't know the people who created them, or made them great.
Yeah right, and im james hetfield.... If you're Mike, then i have questions: Why did Jim Durkin leave? What did you do after Dark Angel? Why didnt you joined them again in 2002?
are you saying that jim, eric and gene are friends with don, if thats right, then I think you're wrong. In an interview with jim he said that he doesnt know what don is doing or where he is or whatever... But this interview is some years old, i think 1998 or 1999 or somethin like that

One of the best and most true bands ever !!!!!
Man, can't believe I never got to see them live. And they even opened with my favorite DA song, "Death of Innocence". And seeing those Jackson Rhoads guitars makes me wish I still had mine. Might have to pick up another for old times sake.
Darkness Descends...what a brilliant album! Fantastic thrash and intelligent songs
Thank you very much for posting this! Dark Angel were one of my favorite hyper-speed band sback in the day! Hoglan is the man!
I've been looking for Pipeline and Imagrant song from these guys for forever. that version of Imigrant song is by far the best I've ever heard.
One of the most underated metal bands ever.
Massive respect and gratitude for uploading this fucking awesome Metal band.
Everytime I'm online and I want some thrash hit I come to this video on youtube... the real deal!
Fucking life altering!

What would i give to hear the Dark Angel albums newly recorded with a good sound and a good singer...
most underrated metal band ever.
No bullshit. That's why Dark Angel and real heavy metal is the best. Thanks zuchtschwein for the post.
The most underrated metal band of the 80's and they had the best drummer in metal Gene "the atomic clock" Hoglan
Dark Angel is the best thrash-metal band ever!!!
in this moment the best rock drummer

I had this video from the Troc in Philly. It had Dark Angel,Death, and Forbidden. All the bands on that vid were impressive. This footage is from that vid.
AMAZING! I've been looking for Dark Fucking Angel footage forever.
Dark Angel always!!!
Oh my god.
Animals. That's some serious live power.
Truly one of the best trash bands I listened to, still listening to it in the car, and I must say they given a very good example how to play trash music at the best
Slayer is amazing and always has been

"internal combustion

Dark Angel was brilliant. Too bad they were so underrated... Must have seen them 10 times in and around Los Angeles back in the day. I know Darkness Descends was a song about the 4 Dark Judges in Judge Dredd. but it definitely fits the clusterfuck in Iraq much better.

"Harbinger of Doom" is the name of the intro to Darkness Descends, it wasn't printed on the first pressing of the album and they never corrected it.
This is why i love youtube...
should be mandatory viewing
Gene was SUPERB!
Gene is a machine on the drums \m/
i was there ULTIMATE revenge opening band ALTAR!!!!
Nikes..... Everywhere
I listen to Slayer cause of the music and lyrics.
Jesus, this is fucking intense! Nothing like it today...
was this the same show with Death? the stage looks the same. man, that would have been one hell of a fucking show. Death AND Dark Angel!
Actually Ron hurt his neck, which pretty much killed the reunion. Of course I think they could get a new vocalist like Exodus did and it would rule all hell!!! Why aren't the Ultimate Revenge videos on DVD?
Amen to that.
On the Dreams of Damnation site, it shows Jim hanging out with Don, his kids and Rob Yahn in Don's living room. They may not be best friends, but there is respect. I doubt that Gene would hold a grudge, not sure about Eric but again Don left 20 years ago!
Fuckin' wow! Dark Angel are a kick-ass live band. Why the fuck didn't they last longer? They had the same aggression as Exodus or Testament back then.
YEAHHH THRASHERS MANIACS!!!
gotta remember Alice in Chains was a different animal back in 1991. They were more metal, and not so mainstream grunge yet. "We Die Young" is a bad ass tune. Testament is my fav. Why not have all 4? Now that is a pants-shitting, head-splitting event right there!
super awesom y re aspero
One real thrash metal band
"Controversy creates interest", you're certainly right about that...
Almost out of questions:
What exactly was the reason behind the song "Worms"?
I mean I like/love Leave scars, but that one song just doens't belong....
In the end Ron, Eric and Gene joined other bands right?, leaving brett and you, there was no trying to get other people for Dark Angel?
All that's water under the bridge now. Jim Durkin, Eric Meyer and Gene Hoglan are friends with and respect Don.
Darkness Descends!
i love that fucking riff man!
@burningempire666 You got it! First Ultimate Revenge had Slayer, Exodus, and Venom! Fortunately, I, STILL, have my VHS copies of Ultimate Revenge and Ultimate Revenge 2! OMG-Dark Angel=Uber intensity.
I'm new to DA so could someone please tell me the name of this song?
Dark Angel's sound is pure rape.cant describe their music different.
Long Live True Metal.
The first song is Darkness Descends/ The death of Innocence.

dark angel é foda
Long live Eric Meyer, Long live Dark FUCKING Angel!!!
Slayer kick ass, I'm sure everyone here can agree to that, but these guys were so fucking underrated, it's a crime. : (
Yeah that's definitely one of them.
Where was this filmed? I hear the singer say something about Philadelphia, there's no way it sounds this good if it was filmed in the electric factory. I don't recognize the venue though. Faster and heavier than Slayer ever was!
what's the info of this show?? (date, place, setlist etc)
whats the setlist for this concert??
I added Nuclear Assault because when that name is mentioned more often than not theyre known where as Dark Angel is brutally unknown even to the old school thrashers. At least the ones I know personally.
They're starting with the beginning of Darkness Descends and then switching over to the Death of Innocence
Qué poder!
Dark Angel would make Slayer sound pop
was this after ou before "" Time does not heal "" ?
Gene the machine FTW
"Darkeness Descends"

Yea, Burzum is the fastest band I ever heard.
"Hoglan is also better than Dave Lombardo" times that by about a hundred and you're close. Only thing going for Slayer is being allot more catchy. ultimate revenge 2 actually, i think the first ultimate revenge was Slayer and a few other bands, back in like 1984
I might have to go with Tortured Existence instead of Epidemic of Violence, but that album rules too.
No he became born again, got a job, a family and is enjoying his life.
@MapachewithSniper I agree or CAN'T argue THAT! I just wish THEY were opening for Slayer and Megadeth-instead of Testament!
I'd take Pleasure to kill, coma of souls, or even enemy of god, over hordes of chaos
Yeah right, and im james hetfield....
If you're Mike, then i have questions:
Why did Jim Durkin leave?
What did you do after Dark Angel?
Why didnt you joined them again in 2002?
Is than with Ron or Doty?
are you saying that jim, eric and gene are friends with don, if thats right, then I think you're wrong.
In an interview with jim he said that he doesnt know what don is doing or where he is or whatever...
But this interview is some years old, i think 1998 or 1999 or somethin like that
fuckin kickass \m/ INTO ASSAULT METAL \m/
