Thank you for sharing -explaining much of Hanukkah. I needed to understand what the Holiday was and it's history. I have been reading in Maccabees. While you share about the Sukkot, the candle that lights other candles, I think of Christ, being the Sukkot of our lives. His light for living each day, is really light. Also, Revelations 1: 13 -20 the 7 churches, each has a lampstand, and Christ is the lighter. The menorah is important to me also. So also the showbread, the bread of life, and the table of incenses, - to go with the prayers of the saints. How Great our Creator God is!

As a Christian with a great interest in Judaism, I have become so enamored of Rabbi Golub and this series that I can't seem to stop watching. So much wisdom. So eloquently and simply spoken! God bless Rabbi Golub! There was a time when Bishop Fulton Sheen had a prime-time TV show, which was very popular; but unthinkable now, considering how far we've sunk as a society. Rabbi Golub should have his own prime-time TV show -- it would bring enlightenment to all!

I remember Bishop Sheen & his vibrant faith. As a child I looked forward to his program. Now a believer interested in the Jewishness of my faith I crave more teaching.

My learning about Christmas, is that it is a re-structuring of the Saturnalia and that the Christian Messiah was not born on this day, but NImrod and Zeus were born on this day. Yes, it is a beautiful holiday, because of people being loving and thoughtful to one another. True, Hanukkah is not mentioned in the Torah or our TENAKH, but it is an important part of our history and should be included as such in the TENAKH. Happy Hanukkah MakeMiraculousMoments

To be honest up front, my family is atheist. That being said we celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas and the solstice every year. Part of each celebration is learning why people celebrate that holiday historically and the history of each celebration. Holidays aren't bad and people would be better of celebrating all of them instead of fighting for just one.

I also am a christian who wants to know the full history of Hanukkah. I want to tell my grandsons when they come this week. That old tale that God was silent for 400 years and then came John the Baptist is incorrect. God is not silent. Thank you for your post. I subscribed and look forward to more broadcast.

I just don't get why both Christmas & Hanukka give presents to children. Doesn't that take away from true meaning of celebration? Makes it more like tradition than honoring Ha Shem & His commands. But that's just me.

Unfortunately a lot of the history mentioned here is based on biased sources. History scholars doubt that Antiochus Epiphanes attack was based on a desire to impose Greek values and theorize that it was the other way around, in which he was putting down a civil war between jews, between the rural conservstive hashmonean factions and urban hellenizing factions. The hellenization was initiated by jews, not by the greeks and the fight was one over priesthood not national ideals. I'm sorry to reveal there's no Santa Claus for us jews either 😉

Interesting that Hanukkah and thanksgiving are over lap this year. i wonder is thanksgiving would be considered a true christian holiday. As Christmas is debatable a christian holiday. to avoid any controversy from the Jewish communities , lets just avoid them but the topics makes a good conversation piece for christian friends.

Was doing a wonderful of telling the details & history of Hannukah- until the syncretized ideas & basic approval of the Xmas worship in light that ‘others’ were not Jewish- & those things are not for Jews. Israel, His Israel, is a grafted in, faith in Yeshua, mixed multitude of believers. One law, one custom for both. I think it’s dangerous to imply otherwise.Remember Roman’s 1:28-32

Then you are definitely too young to watch this. Tell your dad to watch the earlier Jewish 101 videos where he specifically says 20 times that Jewish Tradition is NOT FOR CHILDREN.... that is the parents job only, children are not mature enough to know about it and learn about it

your religion is literally just fanfiction stapled to the end of the torah. Past peoples who believed in this middle eastern, semetic abrahamic religion went on to erase, pillage and murder multitudes of ancient european, nordic and slavic cultures, traditions, writings, teachings, religions and populations. Nothing like Christianity has ever, EVER wiped out so much caucasian culture, and nothing has since. So good luck with your scare tactic comments, Christians have always pulled that junk -- whether through beheadings or bad youtube comments lmao. I sure won't fall for it. I respect Jews, I don't respect evangelical Christians.
