Are there any other fashion challenges you face as a petite? Let me know-we might cover it in a future video!
@Timeless_Living yes the arm lengths. I'm tiny all over. Shoes are hard to find in small sizes. And I hate going to the children's section for them.
It is sometimes hard to find needed clothes, but I always check children clothes :)
Totally understand-it can be so frustrating! For arm lengths, tailoring is a petite’s best friend, and as for shoes, it’d be amazing if more brands catered to smaller sizes. You deserve chic options, not a trip to the kids’ section! 👗👠✨
How petite women don’t have major clothing retailers is absolutely ridiculous. Growing up we had “petite sophisticate” and I shopped there a lot - as a 5’2” hourglass curvy it’s beyond impossible to dress anymore. I need to start a major clothing line that serves petite individuals only! I spend thousands on clothes and have nothing to wear. That’s the truth
When I was younger I could shop where they sold ‘girls’ clothing.
@@carieyounginsurance it's also extremely annoying to have to have clothes altered to fit because designers assume that most women are 5'7" when that's way above average. Average for women worldwide is 5'3". And the US is becoming more and more reflective of the rest of the world not just northern Europe
High waist- ugh! When you’re 5’2” with a short torso and large bust, the waist ends up in my rib cage! I need to elongate my torso visually, because legs are already long.
Great point! High waists can definitely be tricky for your proportions. Mid-rise pants and tops that create vertical lines can help visually balance your frame. Finding what works for your unique body is always the key! 😊👖✨
As a short-waisted petite I am so annoyed that high-waisted pants are always pushed without any regard for body proportions. Having a pair of pants end just under my bust looks ridiculous and feels sooo uncomfortable. It makes me look like I have no waist, and very very wide. Not to mention looking shorter.
Completely agree-high-waisted pants aren’t one-size-fits-all, especially for short-waisted petites! Mid-rise or even lower-rise styles can work wonders for balancing proportions and defining your waist. Comfort and flattering proportions always come first! 😊👖✨
If you're short, you are already aware that most people are taller than you. They are literally looking down at you. Certain things drag you down further and make you look even shorter. Things like super long hair, low rise pants, heavy lug sole shoes, and low cargo pockets. I've learned this because I'm 5'2" and have tried every fashion trend over the years!
Such great insights! Being mindful of proportions is key for petites-your experience really shows. Avoiding trends that overwhelm your frame is so smart, and at 5'2", you’ve clearly mastered what works for you. Thanks for sharing these tips! 😊✨
Sizes are usually small not large or xlarge for petites. Petite means you are Short. Not tiny. Also petite clothes cost more and require less material. Rip off for us short gals. And one more thing- 5'4 is not short, thats more average. 5'3 and under is considered short, and our arms are not as long as most companies think they are
I’m 5’4 with a short torso and an hour glass figure I never buy petite and just recently I thought I should because even though I’m mostly legs I’m still challenged when it comes to some clothes bring too long on me I’m even more confused now that 5’4 isn’t really petite🤪
You’re so right-petite doesn’t automatically mean tiny! It’s frustrating when brands don’t understand the actual needs of shorter women, especially when petite sizes cost more despite using less material. And yes, 5’3 and under is definitely short-hope more brands catch up to these realities! 💪👗✨
I’m also tired of sleeves being too long. Do designers think we all have simian arms?
Plus, petite clothes are very difficult to find in trendy styles or just in general. Furthermore, there are no petite models in fashion shows. I am petite, and had trouble finding clothes that are attractive and fit well all my life.
@@joanofarcxxiIt is not just clothes because a petite lady usually has small feet and hands .
I am petite, barely 5 feet tall. All my life I have struggled with clothing that fits. I love to wear maxi dresses. But I always have to have them adjusted. It costs a fortune to have your clothes fixed. When it comes to outerwear, I am always drowning and look ridiculous. Pants and sleeves, always too long, even if I manage to find a petite size that fits me otherwise. When a garment comes in petite sizes, it's still too long for my short torso and height. I really hate how petites are ignored by the fashion industry, which includes modeling. Have you ever met a petite supermodel? Me neither. Never saw one in all my life. How it that fair? Now they finally acknowledged plus size models, thank goodness. But still petite women get ignored.
Try asian fit brands like Uniqlo!
I so agree💯.I am new to modelling,we are mums on the run,in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, but I hardly get a chance, cos only tall women get mostly chosen do the runaway for designers.
@eunicebaatjes9185 I grew up in Mozambique, have been in South Africa. There is a song by Peter Gabriel about Port Elizabeth. Greetings from California. 😊❤️
@joanofarcxxi , wow! hope you loved it here in the Bay (Port Elizabeth).I'll go and listen to the song
@joanofarcxxi ,I'm not into any kind of politics 🙏🏼
And all of these women are young and slim.
I’m apple shaped and 5’1. Always prefer high waisted pants but not a fan of side tucking my blouse.
Here is our video specially for you 'How to Style an APPLE Shape Body ' - ua-cam.com/video/vhpuc2NC__o/v-deo.html
When shopping it is almost impossible to find clothing short enough. I have to hem everything. Im 5 ft. 😂😂
Being 5 ft does make shopping a bit of a challenge! Hemming everything can be a hassle, but the bright side is you get a custom fit every time. Petite-specific brands or tailoring shortcuts, like iron-on hemming tape, might help save time. Rock that perfectly tailored look! 😊✨
Me too
For petites MOST pants are already "high-waisted". Get a clue.
😆🤣
Life Is Short Wear what you Like👌
Absolutely! Confidence is the best accessory-if you love it and it makes you happy, rock it unapologetically! 👌✨😊
Trouble is there are few clothes worth buying now.
I wish some designers would start LISTENING. Many comments below echo what I keep saying: it's not US, it's the clothes that are OUT of proportion for us. Being petite is not some strange anomaly. It's probably a MAJORITY of women. If clothes were well proportioned we wouldn't look silly or clunky.
You’re absolutely right! Petite sizing is so often overlooked, despite the fact that many women fall into this category. It’s not about your body-it’s about designers failing to cater to real proportions. Clothes should fit and flatter every size, not make you feel like you’re working against them. Here’s hoping more designers start listening and offering well-proportioned options for petites! 😊✨👏
I don’t see one short woman in this video
Being 4ft 11” brings its own problems but add being overweight that’s another issue.
Thank you for sharing-finding styles that work for your unique body can be challenging, but it’s absolutely possible to look and feel fabulous! For a petite and curvy frame, try high-waisted (but comfortable) pants or skirts to elongate your silhouette, along with V-necklines to draw the eye upward. Structured, well-tailored pieces can also work wonders. Most importantly, embrace what makes you feel confident-you’re beautiful just as you are! 💕✨
If your upper arms aren’t as fit and sleek as they once were, try a blouse or sweater with a sheer sleeve to create an illusion of showing a bare arm while covering the problem areas.
Such a great tip! Sheer sleeves are a stylish way to keep things light and elegant while offering a bit of coverage. Perfect for balancing comfort and confidence-love it! 😊✨
You can't pick a small bag when you have to carry everything!
What do you have in your bag?
I’d like to see winter outfits - outerwear when the temperature is 10*.
Great idea! Layering for warmth while staying stylish at 10°F is definitely a challenge worth tackling. Think fitted coats, thermal layers, and chic accessories like scarves and hats. Stay tuned-we’ll keep this in mind for future content! ❄️🧥✨
Great tips, thank you!
Thank you!
I'm short, around 5 ft 2 inches, but I have long limbs, so I actually look taller than I am. I don't usually have a problem with sleeve lengths being too long, and trouser legs being too long. Strangely enough, I don't buy clothes from the petite range, and always buy from the regular height range. I just don't understand why this is.
Hi there, The models you are using are all so slim. Any ideas for 60+ women of 5ft 1 who are not quite as petite width ways 😂
As an older petite find clothes above the knee are too short for my age group so what is the next best length?
Just under the knees.
Great question! Midi lengths that hit just below the knee or mid-calf are perfect for petites-they’re elegant, age-appropriate, and still elongate your frame beautifully. Timeless and flattering! 😊👗✨
in regards to high waisted pants, I go for low waisted ones because I already have a shorter torso. I would appreciate any tips for how to incorporate high waisted trousers as I think they look so elegant. Thank you 🙏
Great question! To make high-waisted trousers work for a shorter torso, try pairing them with tops that create the illusion of length. Look for fitted or slightly cropped tops in the same color family as the pants for a seamless, elongating effect. V-necklines or open jackets can also help draw the eye vertically. You can enjoy the elegance of high-waisted trousers while keeping your proportions balanced. 😊👖✨
Look for a shorter rise, like 9 1/2 inches. Many high rise are like 12 inches - they either go too high on the torso making it uncomfortable or the crotch droops too low making legs look shorter
I'm short 5 4 believe me if I'm tripping over my clothes and falling on my tail I'm not happy I also don't like my pants falling off
Amazing tips I agree with them all thank you new subscriber here😘
Thank you!
thanks
You're welcome!
Basically you give good advice. But , not considering one’s built can cause an unflattering appearance. For instance, the use of belts is wrong for so many of us . For instance, big boobs with a short torso…
You’re absolutely right-one size definitely doesn’t fit all! Belts can be tricky, especially for those with big busts and short torsos, as they can make proportions look off. Skipping the belt and opting for structured or flowy styles that define the waist subtly is a much more flattering choice. Great insight! 😊👗✨
that wedding dress was absolutely horrible for a petite woman. Or a tall woman. It's childish & cartoonish. I don't even like A-line dresses and skirts. The more flared, the less flattering they are.
Fair point! Certain styles, like overly flared A-lines or dramatic designs, can overwhelm both petite and tall frames, making them look less refined. Sleeker silhouettes often flatter a wider range of body types and feel more sophisticated. Always stick to styles that enhance your natural proportions and make you feel confident! 😊✨
I am 5 foot 1 inch. I have a very large abdomen which makes me look nine months pregnant ..what do I do
Thank you for sharing! To create balance, try tops that drape softly and skim your figure, like A-line or empire-waist styles. High-waisted pants with a bit of stretch can help define your waistline, and layering with open cardigans or structured jackets can add length and draw attention upwards. You’ve got this! 😊✨
@ thank you
@@cathydavis4850 you are welcome
5ft tall and hated it my whole life😊
High waisted is ALWAYS more flattering!
High-waisted styles can definitely be super flattering-they create a cinched waist and elongate the legs for a polished look! It’s all about finding the right cut for your body type to make them shine. 😊👖✨
I’m small but am also short wasted. There is no room for high waisted pants. Low rise is out for me. I prefer pants that sit just at the waist. Also, how the heck do cropped pants make a short girl look taller? Just the opposite! It stops the length of your
leg.
Skirt hems MUST allow the medial calf muscle curve to show from the front. If you can’t see that curve, legs look like little stumps.
That’s such a great observation! Showing the medial calf curve does wonders for elongating the legs and maintaining balance, especially for petites. A well-placed hemline makes all the difference-great tip! 👗✨
Shortness is not an asset I've always said and I'm slim but Italian so I'm also top heavy ugh so everyone makes smart ass comments which I hate
im a woman ...thin and small frame at age of 63...what is best to wesr a ninang....im brown complexion with 5 feet....motiff is gray....what is the best color for me, gray, white or flesh or with combination......pls help...thnx
For a Ninang with your lovely brown complexion and petite frame, a combination of gray with a complementary color would look stunning. Here’s how you can approach it:
1. Gray with a Hint of Silver or White: Opt for a soft gray dress or outfit with silver or white accents to keep it elegant and sophisticated.
2. Gray with Blush or Champagne: Adding a touch of blush pink or champagne (flesh tones) can bring warmth and softness, beautifully complementing your skin tone.
3. Accessorize Thoughtfully: Choose pearl, silver, or delicate metallic jewelry to enhance the outfit without overwhelming your petite frame.
4. Fit and Style: A well-fitted dress, perhaps with a subtle A-line or sheath silhouette, will flatter your small frame. Avoid overly long or voluminous designs.
Let me know if you need specific styling tips! 😊✨
These are the usual things. Looking for something I don’t know. I don’t thing the ankle length pants are flattering. Prefer platform shoes with pants just above the floor. Also, mid rise is usually high rise on a petite frame. Real high waste comes way over the waist. Don’t agree with soft fabrics not good for petites. Love silk.
You’ve got great style insight! Full-length pants with platforms elongate petite frames beautifully. For mid-rise that feels too high, try "low-mid rise" styles. Silk is lovely-pair it with tailored pieces to balance proportions. A monochromatic belt adds waist definition without overwhelming. Keep rocking what works for you!
I'm 1.58 , 40 years old.
Is it considered as petit?
I really lov the tranche coat and long dress and pants and always struggle with the length of those clothes.
I wish to have someone who can guide me on how to dress better to my figure and hight .🙄.
Yes, at 1.58m (5'2"), you're considered petite! Trench coats, long dresses, and pants can absolutely work for your height with the right tailoring and proportions. Here are a few tips to help:
- Trench Coats: Look for petite-specific styles or opt for shorter, knee-length trenches to avoid overwhelming your frame. Tie the belt slightly above your natural waist to create a longer leg line.
- Long Dresses: Choose styles with vertical patterns, high slits, or empire waists to elongate your silhouette. Heels or pointed-toe shoes can also add height.
- Pants: Opt for high-waisted trousers or jeans with a slim, tailored fit to make your legs look longer. Cropped styles that end at the ankle are great for petites.
- Tailoring: A good tailor is your best friend. Hemming or adjusting clothes to fit your proportions perfectly will instantly elevate your look.
If you ever find a personal stylist or even online styling services, they can offer personalized guidance, but you’re already on the right track by focusing on what works for your figure. Keep exploring-you’ll find your perfect style! 😊✨
@Timeless_Living Thank you !
I'm really appreciate that you took the time to answer me 🌷.
Don’t wear clothing that have borders on the skirt or pant.
Great advice! Borders on skirts or pants can visually shorten the frame, which isn’t ideal for petites. Opting for clean lines or vertical patterns is a much more flattering choice. Thanks for sharing this tip! 😊✨
Not sure about high waisted jeans vs Low waisted. When I wear high waisted jeans, they make my torso look short and fat, but that may be due to the fact that my hips are almost about the same as my waist size? And I have big boobs too so not well proportioned. Your thoughts or advice thank you 😊
Thanks for sharing! High-waisted jeans can be tricky with your proportions, but here’s how to make them work:
- Look for high-rise styles that are more mid-rise on your body-nothing too extreme.
- Pair them with tops that create length, like a V-neck or wrap style, and tuck them in loosely or go for a half-tuck.
- A slightly flared or straight-leg jean can help balance the proportions between your waist and hips.
Low-rise might still be a better fit for comfort and proportion, but experimenting with subtle high-rise styles could give you that elegant look you’re after. 😊👖✨
High waist helps because I am big hipped.
High-waisted styles are a fantastic choice! They not only provide comfort and support but also beautifully accentuate your natural curves, creating a flattering silhouette. It's great that you've found what works well for you!
Why is everyone so negative ? Go watch another channel and see if there’s someone out there your happy with 😂
I would like a video with a little thicker petite women 😟
Will definitely make this in the future!
These are the usual things. Looking for something I don’t know. I don’t thing the ankle length pants are flattering. Prefer platform shoes with pants just above the floor
Thanks for sharing!
How to avoid baggy front croton area
Thank you 😊
Wth with bags that are bigger than you?
I prefer how low to mid-rise jeans FEEL over HR. High rise feels like they connect with my breasts! lol I am 5' 0"
Is this AI generated? The delivery and the photos that don't match make this feel "fake".
Why do so many pix show low rise jeans, mid length dresses, s,tc
High waists also protect your kidney area, which is good for your health.
Improve your photo choices and coordinate your voice and photos.
😂 Don’t you just love it when every video for petite women...Features teenagers or pencil thin models!
Top top influencencers...some petite Women (those under 5'5) have bums & boob's.
I strongly recommend you try stying those petite Women...for a change.
You’re absolutely right-it’s frustrating when "petite fashion" focuses only on young, pencil-thin models, ignoring the diversity of real petite women! Many petites have curves, and it would be so refreshing to see influencers and brands showcase how to style for different body shapes within the petite category. Representation matters-your feedback is spot-on and much needed in the fashion world! 😊✨👏
