While checking traps this morning, I found one of my bridger #2 dogless had me flipped off. After getting a closer look, there was hair on the jaws of the trap. I’m not sure what kind it was. I’m new to trapping, does anyone have and info on having traps flipped and no catches?
No matter your level of experience you will have flipped off traps. Over time and with experience it will happen much less. Several reasons for this issue: animal will actually roll on the set, trap not bedded properly, Pan tension of the trap is too loose, possibly too much cover over the trap.
im in Indiana also.. what do you do to deal with catching a bobcat unintentually?? it hasn't happened to me YET but im sure its going to happen!! thanks for sharing with us!!
2 best methods for releasing a bobcat are piece of plywood with a notch at the bottom or just a big muck bucket type tub from a farm store on top of the cat. Catch poles are very risky for releasing cats, even if they run away they may still die.
I have to trap after work, by time i get in the timber check traps and get out its dark, days i have off i use to make new sets since i have longer in the day to get it done.
We do use it as an anti-freeze. I wouldn't rely on it for water soaked muddy ground though. Waxed dirt is best. We use Cover Hulls and some peat moss. Salt on the trap bed and some on top of the set. I agree it is cheap
Hoosier trapper supply, do you guys sell that metal tool that Dave was using to make his dirt hole set? The t shaped tool with the semi circular digging end? I cant find it on your website.

Some good spots, love those crossings.
Does the salt keep your sets from freezing? If so that would be a much cheaper method than even wax dirt lol.

Was that salt you were putting in the trap bed before you bedded the trap?
Just regular table salt

You mean Charlie, No, sorry that was custom made.
@@HoosierTrapperSupply where can u get one custom made? ;)
U can also increase ur pan tension to not catch non targets
Do you guys have much trouble with cats and dogs while trapping next to those housing developments?
no but its something we watch for.
I actually have a picture of a mouse I caught in my DP
