"SLOW DOWN...THIS IS A NEIGHBORHOOD!" ad always stuck in my head as a kid. Never would have imagined I would own almost the same exact GT-S in red. It's really just the perfect daily car, it STILL looks absolutely modern, and it's a blast to drive and upgrade. Hitting valve lift for the first time (after the massive lift bolt extraction bill lol) was unforgettable and it NEVER gets old. Feels like a rocket.
@@alexvieira7945 thank you and i will! i’ve driven it maybe 25 miles yet and it’s honestly the perfect little car. great on gas, peppy, and handles like a dream.
Made me laff. those old comercials. My GTS is 2001 so just over 20 years. 130k, canada driven. It's still sexy as heck. White, ordered from Japan since they didn't have that colour in north america, took 6 months to get it built and shipped. Interior is still mostly mint. Changed wheels to 17 inch and have the largest rubber that would fit in the well. Super happy. Yes it's fast enuff people.
I am trying to find photos of the GTX Appearance Package that was an option on the 2000-2001 Celica in the states (possibly only Southeast Toyota dealerships). It was a dealer installed option, with checkered flag graphics running along the lower sides of the car and on the hood, special GTX alloy wheels that I've never seen on any other Celica, and some other accessories included with the package (carbon fiber dash). The price of the package was $976. I can't find one anywhere and am starting to think I hallucinated the whole thing.
I think you did hallucinated the whole thing lol.. As far as i know here in the states there was no GTX just GT and GTS, and i have never heard of an appearance package just the 'action package' from 2002-2005, but ill do some research maybe i missed the appearance package you're talking about.
When you come here to see how to properly pronounce this car (I’ve always called it “suhleeka” but lately have heard a lot of people call it “sellicka”)… and here they pronounce it both ways depending on the commercial lol… I’ll stick with “suhleeka” since it seems the Japanese commercial went with that, and also a couple of the English ones (I’m guessing Canadian and Australian). Seems like the American ones call it the “sellicka”.
I've heard that said all the time "it's not a fast car" but holy christ once valve lift kicks in, that all melts away. Still the fastest car I've ever owned, but it certainly makes you work for the power and be engaged rather than just hitting the petal.
I understand where you're coming from. But we're in America and it's pronounced differently. It just is. There are so many differences in our language pernounciations. This is no different. Toe-m-a-toe = toe-mah-toe.
Still looks good to this day.
Absolutely
Yeo big facts
True.
Ages like fine wine 🍷
The looks fast ads were hilarious. Nothing beats 2000s ads 😂

came here to see how Celica was pronounced. I've been wrong my whole life.
The correct pronunciation is almost the same in Japanese as in spanish, the way these ads pronounce the name is so cringy.
That's exactly why I came to watch this video. That's crazy
@@Sedrom are you here cause of that Canadian woman's TikTok too? lol
