What incredible craftsmanship that this father and Son team are capable of, Kermit is so fortunate to have found them, so impressive to see the level of work they can put out !

My Dad flew a bullet nose Vega for Wedell-Williams and the Vega 5 for Braniff. Hoping to see this fly. Fastest ship.
Jimmy Wedell had designs for his version with retractable landing gear when he was killed. THAT would have been FAST!

Had a little health scare today. After it was over I went outside and saw Angels. Blue and Gold Angels with Navy on their wings. The Blue Angels are putting on a show this weekend just north of here. They did their VIP flights using the small airport 1 mile south as a marker for some of their "Make the Passenger Barf" moves. Definitely more power than that Vega will have when finished.

Kermit, have to say, these works updates whilst valuable, dont show much. A group of guys and some material theyre going to work on?
Fly some of your aircraft. Show us the result of their work,

I don't know how to get in touch with Kermit but I do have a couple pictures of Willie Posts Vega from sometime in 1935 with Willie @ Bristol Vt airport that my Grandmother took when he was doing a tour in this area. These were taken very shortly before he crashed ,, though I'm not exactly sure what month these photos are from, but defiantly from 1935 though. . My Grandmother was heart broken as she was a huge fan of Willie and was taking flying lessons at that airport. She later went on to become a WASP during WW11 due to his positive influence on her.
If anyone from FOF happens to see's this post please respond as I'm sure Kermit would like a copy of them, even possibly for use in one of his displays. I'd be more than happy to share them with you folks from FOF and with Kermit if you'd like a copy of them.
Actually I'd run into Kermit on several occasions during the 70's & 80's at several different US air shows over the years , my father was a part owner of the Pacific Prowler along with Dean Martin in the late 70's , early 80's and if I recall correctly it was sold in 83ish to someone from Texas ? Sadly , other than in photo's , I haven't seen the Prowler in person sense then and haven't been flying again sense my Pa died > 25 years ago.
That is hard not being able to go flying after growing up a hanger rat sense the age of 8, which I'd spend every week end and many week days there till 1970 when I went into the service . I don't even think I've been up flying sense around 1986-7 ish and Boy Do I Miss It .
I really miss flying and constantly going to the air shows , it was a blast being a part of the War Bird seine for awhile and I really miss being around classic aircraft and meeting so many interesting people as that was a huge part of my formative years growing up and a big part of my life in general !
I did make allowances though and sense I couldn't afford my own plane , I opted for hot rods instead and having 3 beauties now ,,, I didn't suffer to bad for it,,LOL!
Any How FOF and Kermit , you see this comment, if you'd like a copy of those photos , I'd be more than glad to e-mail them to you if you'd like.

My Favourite Aeroplane !!--just beautiful to look at,--just splendid "workman ship"--just "old-school"-brilliant !--I did my carpentary, apprenticeship, here in Sydney Aust,-back in the day,-& we used to use "casine-animal-glue"-heated-up,-on all joints,-& it was "old-school"-tough-stuff,-when those joints "set"-there was no-way,-your gonna "pull them "apart"--I wonder what sort of "glue"-they're using on the "Vega"-the original Lockheed stuff, must have been "pretty-good"--to last all these years !!

Love the edge welds on the tank. Beautiful uniform ripples done by someone who obviously welds almost every day. It’s obvious how you laminate the diaphragms which are flat but how do you laminate the door??

In NYC, there is an aviation museum which very few know of or visit. Within that museum, there is a Vega, a beauty, along with other historic aircraft. The staff, all volunteers, are so friendly.
I'll leave it to you to figure out where the museum is.

The work of the Kimballs is second to none. Absolutely magnificent! Full speed ahead, the Lancaster is eagerly awaiting it's turn. Many years ago at Oshkosh, Mr. Jameson was kind enough to let me climb into the Vega and got a tour. He stood outside and answered my questions. What a monumental project. So happy to see the progress being made. Will the wing need to be rebuilt as well or does it just need to be recovered? Keep pluggin' away!❤😊
