    Thank you very much for review.
    No advertisement, no "water" just facts and your experience - exactly what I needed.
    I'm also using those "gold ring" eye pieces, they are doing great even in comparison with expensive one. Also I like Celestron OMNI series eye pieces (32 mm) - they give very sharp and contrast image and still very affordable. Both mentioned eyepieces are a great choice for using with binoviewer.

    3:23 Not sure what you meant by "squint" but if it means "close one eye" - I started looking into star gazing only recently, but one of the first things I learnt was that you are not supposed to close the idle eye while observing with the other one.

    I bought a Celestron 90 SLT and returned it. I hated the alignment procedure and controls. I live in a white zone and found it difficult to see stars.
    I then bought a Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi and found the SynScan application to run it delightful. I bought a Bresser 102/460 ED refractor to use with it. At 460mm, this optical tube has a very broad field of view, but isn't really big on lunar or planetary work.
    So, I then bought a Celestron 6se optical tube, which works well on the Star Adventurer mount. It is very good for lunar and planetary work.

      For my money, SCTs are the best for the moon and planets due to their long focal lengths, yep. Money no object, a C11 might be the best moon scope of them all. The C14 is godly, but too big for me to handle alone... gotta know your own limits.

      @@MikeLikesChannel I am elderly and feeble and cannot handle anything bigger than a 6" SCT. I am thinking of buying a HyperStar 6 v4 and using my SCT for deep sky stuff.
      Were money no object, I would like to buy the 200" Hale Telescope at Mount Palomar.

    Excellent review. Thanks for jargon busting. Too many reviews left me with more questions by not explaining what things meant but this is ideal!! Looking like I may go with a 6" but between this and the Evolution same size what's your opinion?

    • @MikeLikesChannel
      @MikeLikesChannel 2 роки тому +1

      Hi James, I think if you're talking about the 6" size, I like this model since it's a good value. My hesitation with the Evo is the built in lithium battery. Celestron is keeping quiet about what replacement looks like, if that's even possible... and as we know, all lithium batteries die eventually. The SE relies on external battery packs, which simplifies that issue. Optically they'd be the same, assuming the same aperture. If you're considering the 8" tube, I like the evolution mount better, it handles the weight better than this SE mount does on a 8" optical tube.

    what brand of ep is that 6mm? i have the exact same scope. i got it from somebody in facebook market who was moving. she was selling it for $50. it included the stand/mount, a couple of eps, dew shield and a hard plastic case for everything.

    • @MikeLikesChannel

      It's a generic, "gold line" eye piece... there's many different ones on Amazon, all about the same. $50 for a 6SE is a steal of a deal!
