- Thank you James for introducing me to Buckethead, it was a great experience for me :)
I taught myself guitar for 10 years (no formal education nor private lesson), and spent 1 month+20 days learning "Soothsayer" for this video. This took more than 6 number of takes/whatever to record completely. As I was playing, I had to deeply focus, as it’s a very difficult song to play (so many different techniques and effects) and the longest one i ever covered :)

So I have to start by thanking UA-cam and it’s algorithms! Yeah so I’m 62 years young and have been watching and listening to all the big rock and heavy metal bands since I was 14 ish. About a month ago I saw Mel’s cover of this guy Buckethead pop up on my feed. I dunno where I’ve been for this last decade as I’d never heard of him before, strangely though I now realise I must have seen and heard him with Guns & Roses. I watched Mel’s cover of “Soothsayer” and was literally speechless, the song was amazing and her playing …. Holy Shit!! So obviously next step was watching Buckethead do his version. WOW!!! I was almost in tears with the emotion and playing. I have maybe watched or listened to both now a 100 times and never get bored. So out of the blue, after decades of thinking I’d heard everything I was thankful for these two brilliant artists. Great stuff Mel - you’re amazing!! ❤

I've been watching her videos for the last 2 or 3 years. Since I first ran across her in my feed. So many things about her, other than her playing abilities, make her appear to be a very rare type of young person. Other young people should take note of how she conducts herself on here. Her parents have much to be proud of. And, she is absolutely an awesome guitar player. Worthy of fame and fortune, should she desire that from life but, she strikes me as the type who is intelligent enough to realize there are far more important things.
I have lost the count of how many times I have seen this video, she is just amazing, it is all because of her hardwork and dedication, Mel you are amazing, lots of love and respect from India.
This girl played for 9+ mins and I personally didn't notice any mistake. Must have been a pain to record this video, for sure! Great cover! She deserves a like just for the effort alone 🙏
There are only 2 mistakes but it is seriously nothing given the fact that she is playing almost 10 minutes from memory. No judging, her skill is and always will be beyond my reach.

I bought a Hello Kitty stratocaster for my daughter's 9th birthday. Some day in the future, she will play War Ensemble by Slayer.
Get her the best child's guitar that you can afford. A cheap guitar is worse than no guitar at all. The Pacifica Series by Yamaha is a great place to start.
Just don't pressure her if it turns out not to be her thing. Awesome if it is though! May be a little difficult for her to be able to have the coordination and stuff for guitar at her age. I find most younger kids take to percussion instruments really well!
@@fullclipaudio I had a really cheap no name electric guitar when I was a kid, and the damn thing kept cutting my strings. I could have lost an eye! It did get me on the arms a few times. Super dangerous!

My good Sir, I admire your way of acknowledging and giving respect. But I'm sure you're much better than what you give yourself credit for. If I may, there have been several times I've been stopped by different instrument playing artists, while walking the streets. Perhaps it is the way ppl incorporate themselves with the tune but it's as if I get sucked into them. Such as this one here. I've always put it in these words, I was proficient enough to work my way through songs and play them as written but it wasn't until I had the technical skills pass to the subconscious level that I was able to relax enough and actually play a guitar. That being said, there's always another aspect of the instrument to learn and another way to play things. Much like life in general, don't waste your time comparing yourself to other people. Get inspired by them, learn new techniques etc but you can only measure your progress today against your skills from yesterday.
She does not even have to look at the strings, I am so jealous. Your amazing young one.

good job kiddo ! my family and i were lucky to see buckethead perform live . me and my wife and two daughters . i cried a few times as seeing anyone who can make music on a high level , i become moved beyond what my body could take ,i am very sensitive like that as i get older it gets worse ! so did my one daughter- she is only a kid at 18 at the time maybe so ... it wasnt just me. you do a wonderful job and should be VERY proud of your hard work and talent !! - never stop .
