We only used to throw the bait when it was bones. Orange roughies heads are the go nice and oily. You’ve got two pots do a vid old bait vs fresh bait

nice work mate, i keep the old bait always just add more I think the rotten fish helps. Remove the bones and pack the basket. I have been out 4 times this week got 8,7,8 crays each day solo on 2 pots. Out tomorrow can't wait
Nice mate that’s just what iv been doing, nice catches solo mate, I know solo definitely adds a challenge to it all but in a way it’s kinda relaxing doing it solo ae haha think I just love my solo time way to much 😂✅ hope you done well this morning I could only make it to one of my pots for 4 crays this morning swell was almost breaking where my other pot is was a little to sketch so didn’t pull it haha 😆✅🦞
@@rush.gang.fishing Nice work, know what you mean nice just yaself on the water, solo no cray tipper is also character-building just you pulling the pots hard work. Got 5 today but the biggest one had eggs so 4 keepers also. The swell here was 2m+ at Cockburn made whiting fishing interesting holding bottom and seeing the line move 1.5m up n down and mean while looking at the waves coming towards my 5.1m boat.

Leave the old bait in there ! That’s what I’ve been doing. I’ve got a video coming from that Friday morning too. Mate it was blustery and hard work out there!

@@rush.gang.fishing those drop offs are prime dawn and dusk. Troll or anchor and burly cast un weighted pilchards and you can catch mackerel and snapper, just remember the wire. Live baits even better. Often you can see them chasing the baits but not committing during the day. Just like tailor dusk and dawn or even under the full moon they switch to feed mode.

Do you always run fresh water thru the engine after each trip?
Cheers brother have seriously been loving them & now have a couple set aside for Xmas so will likley just do one more week then get the pots out and get ready for the snaps 😎🙌 I do yes, I mean it usually sits all day long ( if I fish the sunrise ) then once the kids are in bed I head back out side an give the boat a quick clean, most the time I just use fresh water over everything just a quick squirt, nothing to serious 🙌😎🐟✅
I keep the dirty old bait until its bones, seems to work just fine. Caught many crays with shitty old bait half decomposed haha. Cockroaches of the sea bro.

I cooked up a Cray the other day from a 4 day pot and it stunk like the old bait. Not good.
I think a few days max for old bait.

Looks like they were still moving when you took them out if the fridge - they are supposed to be put in the freezer.

Hey mate, I like to have a pot nice an close to the marina ( for when I’m time poor or it’s to rough for my little boat to go far ) the other spot that’s a bit of a hike away fishes really well but I wasn’t able to get to it often with wind etc 😅 I think next year I’ll go back to putting them both closer to the marina so I’m always able to check both pots if the first doesn’t have my 8. My plan this season just been was wishful thinking I was going to be able to get to that further spot more often then I did haha 😂 cheers for watching mate!
