I haven't caught up on this series yet so I don't know if the people featured are reading this, but I can say that as a "child of divorce" if my dad's wife spoke to me like that I would react exactly like those kids did, probably even more so when I was their age. Leave the parenting to their father, your relationship with his kids (and him) will instantly improve if you do.
