      Burnzy494959 I'm guessing because most people that listen to this genre or like, form of technical guitar playing like it on a minor scale and when it's played on a major scale it kinda loses it's brutality and just trashiness that metal fans have grown to love. Although this is fantastically technical, and really quite brilliant, I don't prefer it because of the scale, I wanna listen to shit that makes me feel like killing people :D

    That Rick Graham solo o_0

    • @TheVintageyear
      @TheVintageyear 9 років тому +15

      ***** Rick Graham's solo sound a lot more expressive and organic, the way he phrases, the way he does vibrato, bends, slides, also his picking attack just sound a lot more expressive/dynamic and human-like. He has great timing. Rick also has a bit of organic rock-blues vibe in his playing. The Polyphia's guitarist are technically great, and play good melodies as well, but their playing sound mechanical, robotic and "sterile/flat" to me. IMO huge difference between them in terms of dynamic control, timing as well.

    • @joshuajose7920
      @joshuajose7920 9 років тому +3

      +Reiner Braun Precisely! this comment is on point. This is a perfect example on how to differentiate playing styles of course it would be FEEL over TECHNIQUE or how you make ascertain that being a guitarist is just not destroying the strings playing fast notes etc. Technically polyphia is good hands down but their playing style is just bland. i'm sure the playing style will grow/adopt soon.

    You guys have a style of harmony melody and rhythm that is SO unique, but yet SO noticeable but NOT repetitive. You are all technically advanced as well as rooted with some great Musicality. I will be buying your second album also. Sorry I couldn't donate to help make the studio possible.

    I love playthroughs of really technical songs because you get to see the focus on thier faces. Its something that reassures other musicians starting that its okay to mess up when writing and learning. To play these things perfect even the guys that wrote amazing pieces like this have to focus a lot more than it seems in the music videos and live shows, where they are puting on a show to keep people entertained.

    This is the kind of music that makes me strive to become a better guitar player. technically and in the writing department as well. I love the melodic, light-hearted, majory phrasing that you guys use. I started writing riffs in that vein and its so awesome to see that style gaining popularity.

      It may actually be the frame rate of the camera that does not. It captures the vibrations better, and look at the drum sticks, they kinda look like rubber. I think it may just be the camera, and it looks cool! :)

      Nah they 'famous' now bro. Ain't gonna fit in with the pop band, know wham sayinn. Lemme tell you I dated this girl and she was like 'y'all heard of Polyphia?' And I was like whaa, how you know about them..? Then I heard their new sh!t and I was like 'Oh..' TO ME, this stuff is so ridiculously technical and f*cking amazing really. And I've been playing for a decade. The new stuff? Nah. It's good but it's like it came straight out of a conveyor belt from a factory ie generic sounding.
