- “Extra’s” Renee Bargh spoke with Jodie Turner-Smith and Daniel Kaluuya as they promoted their film “Queen & Slim.”
The two play love interests in the film, which required them to shoot a sex scene in a car. Jodie shared with Daniel, “When I went to the [premiere] after-party, your mom was like, ‘What were you doing in that scene?’ I was like, ‘I don’t know what scene.’ Your mom confronted me about it.”
Daniel, shaking his head, reacted, “She has no behavior.”

yeah it was beautifully done.
So I saw the movie this week and i didn’t expect it to be so emotional for me. Not so much the police scene (I mean yes it was bc it’s very real) but to me it was the smaller references to the black struggle. The scene where Slim references God being all he has, Angela feeling that she outgrew her mother, her desire to find a love that kisses her wounds but doesn’t try to heal them...
All of those things just hit really deep for me which I wasn’t expecting. The visuals and the music played a major part as well. To me each scene captured so beautifully how resilient and beautiful black ppl are even in our struggle. The scene where they were at the juke joint meant so much to me bc there were so many stories in the club we weren’t even privy to. Everyone in there had a story and in those moments of dancing and gyrating they were trying to forget about them just like our Queen and Slim.
I find the black mind to be one of the most creative and complex things on earth. This movie just gives a tiny glimpse of our beauty and complexity and it worth seeing.
Yes; I agree. There is a certain reality that comes across in this movie Aside from the undeniable chemistry between Jodie and Daniel there is the pitch perfect dialogue:THERE IS SOME EXCELLENT WRITING HERE!
And yes; the urgency and the immediatecy of the situation these two find themselves in is what all Great plots are made of. The soundtrack is just the icing on the cake. ...so to speak , and adds another dimension to the film. All and all ; very topical-- very necessary ,wth a surprising portention to future resolution of these conflicts and tragedies.

I loved it! I agree with most, I was hoping for a better ending. However, the movie proved beyond what was anticipated by producers and Director and it haven't made it to Amazon Prime or Netflix yet. While still at the theaters, I am going to see again. This time as a matinee hoping it's not too many people there. One lady decided to talk through the movie first time🙄🤨👀.

There are soooo many white Australian, British, South African actors in Hollywood, and you'll never hear them hating on each other. There are talented actors everywhere around the world, it does depend on how hard they work to get the role.
