Great goalie and really nice person as well. Too bad he never won the cup. I think he could have easily get a trade in his last years as a backup to a contender and maybe win a cup that way, but he wanted to play his entire career in Nashville. What a great career anyway!
Hard to say which one is better, Rinne has better stats but Calgary always felt like a weak team that just happened to have Kipper and Iginla. In the international tournaments Kipper never finished outside of medals, got 2 silvers and a bronze. If you put solid defence in front of him, he'd be pretty great.

I always liked Rinne. A very, very good goalie and he seems to be an even better person. Really wanted him to win the cup. Damn Penguins. They beat my Western Conference team the year before, too (the Sharks). Psh. Predators and sharks would destroy penguins in nature. Stupid hockey.
I'd like to see him in the Hall and he'd get my vote, but I think the cup loss to Pittsburgh hurts his chances. If he won then I'd say he's in, either way a great career and should definitely have his number retired for the Preds.
When he was a junior in Finnish U18 (?) league and a career backup, he was really close to retire and switch to finnish baseball (pesäpallo). Lucky for everyone, this never happened and he was discovered by Nashville. I believe an agent came to Oulu to scout another player and saw this flanky athletic goalie during warmups and was impressed. Rinne did not play in that game, so he was basically drafted because of one warmup.
As great as Rask is, I don't think he really catches Rinne, now that we know about the torn labrum in his hip. Still quite behind in career wins, and if he does play longer his save percentage will prolly go down. Then there's the argument that Boston was a very good contending team for the entirety of his career while Rinne didn't rly have that luxury. Add to that the fact that Rask may very well be either a platoon with Swayman next season or down to 20 games a season backup. Unless he gets traded, but then who knows if he even winds up on a goalie-friendly team at that point... Rinne was just an absolute beast that had longevity is what I'm getting at, and happy to see him retire healthy with a great career.
I hate Rinne since he knocked out my favorite team multiple times in the playoffs. But honesty this guy was amazing and I'm happy he had a solid career.
I think Rinne and Price have similar career stats. Shows the importance of the market for profile but having said that, they are likely about the same level.
Always hilarious when I see people blame this one call on their cup loss. It was an awful call but not why they lost the cup. Never scored a goal after that, even though they had a 5-on-3. They would have had to win that game and then go win game 7 in Pittsburgh

Farewell, Pekka Rinne. May you forever be too good right now. 🥅 🏒
Was a late bloomer, got drafted at the age of 21 and didn't fit in any national junior teams. Made a heck of a career out of it.
Are you doing a live stream for the Seattle Krakens expansion draft?
For Patreons only. :-)
Not sure on Rinne's HOF status, but I do think his #35 is retired by Nashville.
I'd like to see him in the Hall and he'd get my vote, but I think the cup loss to Pittsburgh hurts his chances. If he won then I'd say he's in, either way a great career and should definitely have his number retired for the Preds.
It would be hard to believe that the either 1st or 2nd best Finnish born goaltender doesn't make it into the Hall Of Fame
If Smashville doesn’t retire his number…
He's going to get a banner
Hoping he stays in the organization for awhile to keep working towards a ring and a cup win
Rinne did not play in that game, so he was basically drafted because of one warmup.
great goalie
This guy was a thorn in the ducks side! He owned the ducks. Glad to see him go lol he was a great goalie though..
Ya it’s strange how the Preds seemed to be the Ducks kryptonite in the 2010s, beating them 3 times.

Poe Javelski :-D :-D :-D
Cydney Srosby, Parey Crice, Porey Cerry, Kikita Nucherov, Toe Jhornton, Homáš Tertl, Kaku Soivu, Monner CcDavid, Gayne Wretzky and Jaromir Jagr.... oh, wait a second!!
Gonna miss Pekka, goodluck to him but I think he’ll be back to work w Nashville
Forever too good right now
That magnet is just the best I’ve seen thus far
RInne is just too good Right Now! :)
My favourite off finnish born goalies
not bad for a guy drafted 258th I must say!
Peeka rinne is too good
Ha, "now that it's Finnished" I see what you did there
He retired? I really thought he was “too good right now”
Oh, thank you for acknowledging that meme
I think Rinne and Price have similar career stats.
Shows the importance of the market for profile but having said that, they are likely about the same level.
I ended up looking up their stats - shockingly similar.
If you were from out of town visiting Abbotsford or Chilliwack for the first time, you’d probably think it’s Nashville country too.
Lets not forget Sissons had that goal taken away by that goof of a ref. Probably had something to do with that cup loss.
Always hilarious when I see people blame this one call on their cup loss. It was an awful call but not why they lost the cup. Never scored a goal after that, even though they had a 5-on-3. They would have had to win that game and then go win game 7 in Pittsburgh
@@drewfobbe7851 I mean it wouldve been a 1-0 in game 6.
you know i kinda forgot pekka played some games for nashville this year, no disrespect to the guy i love him but i just did
When Shea Weber retires can you please do on on him and on Nick Foligno?
I hope he enjoys his retirement! 😁
Unless he doesn't want to stay in hockey, Nashville should already have a nice, executive-level position for him.
Why would someone dislike this?
Damn Shannon. Let the guy untie his skates first 😉🤣😂👍👍
Maybe he’s getting retirement advice from Teemu Selanne. Look out for the Vezina run 2022!
