They let podencos offleash all the time in Spain - my grandfather had one and we always walked her around his farm and the neighbouring fields offleash. She never ran off to kill anything on a walk (though she did get in his chicken run when she was left outside alone and kill some of his chickens before they increased the fence height from 4ft to over 6ft). Not good to walk them offleash near roads though just in case. I love the breed but the prey drive is too high for me - I have cats and I let my dog offleash in small parks and expect them to learn boundaries and not run into roads etc (don't trust a podenco to understand this as they haven't been bred to understand boundaries like herding dogs have). I will stick with my herding breeds / herding mixes and admire podencos from afar :)
Grrrrrrrrrrrreat!
The Spanish podencos are tireless dogs. I love ❤ this underrated breed.
Looks like a lot of fun. What the song called?
it's called Andalusian nights.
Thanks.
