    These are nice little radios. The top two weak points were the cassette mechanism and the sliding switches.

    I have Panasonic RX-FS50, gorgeous red in color. I am having the similar issue on the right speaker. There is only sound in left speaker. Headphone does not work at all. Might check the components that you showed in this video

    I was most interested in seeing this as I messed about with my RX-FS 430 today almost identical model to yours . ( mine has mini disk piezo tweeters )
    Wanted a Bluetooth speaker for soul use in the car ,my Toyota car has a cassette tape so could of used one of those tape head signal injector gadgets instead.
    On measuring the Panasonic boom box voltage it was 11.75 volts from it's mains transformer secondary , after I installed a 12 volt input jack to use from the car cigarette lighter outlet in the Boom box the power was not getting though from the empty battery 9 volt compartment and thus the new power jack battery replacement also - discovered the 240 v plug pushes a flap down to switch between battery to secondary positives that would only work for mains operation , so I just soldered all three pins together and will never install 6 x c2 cells. works fine.
    The blue tooth hack was easy around radio section switching positive between radio and Bluetooth module used 2 diodes in series to reduce to the radios 6 volts to slightly less than 5v , may have do something different as some high pitched noise getting through though.

    Is this model sensitive and stable on catching radio frequencies ? thanks . I am considering buying one on ebay.

      My mother in law is using it and never had any complaint about the reception. Also I did not notice weak reception while playing with it.

    I got a Panasonic Rx-Cs780 for free a few years ago..In full working order but now one channel is a bit lower than the other so I'll have to tear it down and see if I can find the issue.

    • @UltimateDIY

      Could be similar to my problem, or maybe some bad capacitors. Keep us posted if you manage to find the problem :)

    Hi, Enjoyed this tutorial. I have a similar model in excellent condition except the right speaker also does not work (Panasonic RX-FT530 Twin Cassette). The stereo sound does come out headphone jack so it works ok but not the speakers. I did the battery test on it and it seems to be working. The wires and soldering connections seem ok. Any idea what it could be? Thanks.

    • @UltimateDIY
      @UltimateDIY  8 років тому +4

      +SpyGuyUK thank you for watching :)
      It could be a failing headphone jack. They also have the secondary function of disconnecting the speakers when the headphones are plugged in. In some cases this jack fails and one or both speakers remain disconnected permanently.

      Hi, Thanks for getting back to me. If it was what you say. Is there anything I can do?

    • @UltimateDIY
      @UltimateDIY  8 років тому +3

      +SpyGuyUK hi, no problem :) Put some contact cleaner in there and plug and unplug the headphones several times. If that does not help you can replace the headphones port or disable this feature by soldering the correct contacts together directly on the board.

      Hi, Thanks. I will give that a try. Incidentally those headphones you have are very good according to reviews on Amazon. I have the Sennheiser HD201 - I chose these as opposed to the newer HD202 as I heard that they were a bit too DJ like/ bassy!

    • @UltimateDIY
      @UltimateDIY  8 років тому

      +SpyGuyUK yes, they are really good, but sadly I never had the chance to listen to better ones, so I don't have something to compare them to.

    What screwdriver did you use? I am trying to repair a RX DT600 and tried a Philips #1 8 inch long driver and it doesnt seem to grab. Does Panasonic use a special screwdriver?

    • @UltimateDIY
      @UltimateDIY  8 років тому

      From what I remember it was a flat head screwdriver. Try to look down the holes with a flashlight, maybe you can see the screw head.

      The Phliips #1 ended up working. I just needed to push harder to keep it in place for the first turn. After that the screws came out pretty easy. I had to use an 8inch length driver which was actually pretty hard to find in the big box home improvement stores. Thanks, its open!

      Little known info: Japanese Philips head screwdrivers are different than others. If you do a lot of work buy a set.

    Excellent model, stereo sound is just super. Yes, everyone has a problem with this switch.
    It's funny how our thoughts coincide, how to fix this miracle of technology. I laughed heartily thanks !
    However, I was looking on the Internet for another model rx-fs 415, a very rare model.
    It's interesting to read how people have achieved such sound quality.. Stereo amplified multiple times with magical effects.
    I know a lot of different Surround, but this is the first time I've heard this.
    It is interesting to achieve such a sound at the output of a computer with an amplifier.

    Отличная модель, стерео звук просто супер. Да проблема в этом переключателе у всех.
    Смешно у нас мысли совпадают, как нужно чинить это чудо техники. Посмеялся от души спасибо !
    Правда искал в интернете другую модель rx-fs 415, очень редкая модель у меня нашлась в гараже..
    Интересно почитать, как люди добились такого качества звука.. Стерео усиленное многократно с волшебными эффектами,
    Я знаю много различных Surround, но такое слышу впервые.
    Интересно добиться такого звука на выходе компьютера с усилителем.

    Yep, can't have music of any type. I think we need to take a page from that book. After you have your brakes fixed, the mechanic and shop are paid a royalty and you must obtain permission to use them.
    Same every time you use the toilet.... a royalty. Am I missing something?
