I used to think the same thing until I fished with an old 96 bass tracker with a johnson 40 horse in bass tournaments with 60 70k bass boats would leave me in the wind. Fancy equipment and all but I still managed to hold my own. I had two top 2s and a 3rd and 5th place in one season. I also had biggest bass and 2nd place biggest bass multiple times... with that said it's still possible to win even when the odds are against you. It's fun because I laugh at those guys with the fancy equipment who think they know what they're are doing. Most have no clue.
You dont have to have the newest of everything, just a boat that floats and knowing where the crappie are and how to catch them. You can see them on a depth finder, but that doesnt help if you dont know how to catch them.
Most of the time, one with the most money wins... most of the time? guys with the 40&50thousand $ boat & 8-10 thousand $ fishfinders wind, most fishfinders cost more than my boat!!
Dont be a hater!!! These men and ladies have spent millions of hours honing their skills and when a sponsor decides theirs skills are good enough they supply them with the necessary equipment to make a living and get excellent advertising for their respective companies. Its called capitalism. Help those who are going to help you. I have fished in tournaments with some of these guys and gals and actually they are some of the nicest fishermen and women ive ever met. They share information and give good tips on fishing. Dont hate them because of their high dollar equipment its all about sponsors wanting good advertising
