AKI is terrible, but her matchup against JP specifically is actually mostly even. Put her against any competent Ken or rush down character and she melts.@@jakethe_
If A.K.I. had a Wake up DP or a Low Poking Tool like that she can Drive Rush from, she'd be so good. Even JP has Anti-Pressure tools like Amnesia. Once people learn you can pressure her for free, her viability will drop.
Would of been great if when AKI popped her projectile bubble with her lash, the bubble burst into a smaller but faster one. That way she would have very unique projectile that she could leave going at its normal speed and do her usual drive rush setups after, or suddenly make the bubble go faster with a lash (Luke fireball fast maybe) and catch opponents off guard. Atm its very slow and predictable.
JP shouldnt have that but they also arent even remotely the same character type. Aki isnt a zoner, she's a setplay snowballer. She's supposed to be severely punished when she loses neutral because she is severely dangerous when she wins. Hell just her 236hp knockdown is a safejump that crosses up unless they backrise. She isn't supposed to get easy knockdowns, which is precisely why her strike invincible pressure relief doesnt grant her one

Anyway I dont think it baits that much jump’s because its really slow and so judging the timing of your jump over it is sometimes is a problem, but more even, cos it’s slow, it’s easy to parry it so most players just do that instead. Other than Oki (which she mainly gets in the corners from it), you can only use it to have a free approach/drive rush for a setup and thats predictable af since thats all you can really do with it. You can’t zone, you can’t fireball battle and its not that effective at baiting jumps IMO. I’m just saying a little added variation would have been nice like all the other projectile characters have.
broken character like urien, urien was so broken that he was only a HANDFUL of characters that could do tekken style juggles in sf3, they were so cheap that 20YRS later still worked with sf6 and jp used similar concepts like 10:24 that stupid orb is no different to uriens reflection move, you can get caught in mixups, block and you can get grabbed, which is cheap as is but it breaks your block and forces you into a juggle chain (same as urien) moves shouldn't be allowed to come in all directions, its unfair in marvel vs capcom as is but in sf?? sf2 was similar and fun now modern fighting games are cheap and over the top
