The brown colour would be the wood pulp in the rayon/viscose thread. You are not wanting to melt or singe the thread, just evaporate the fluff/beard from the tearaway stabiliser. The singe off is very quick, we try not to linger on any one spot.
The raw product is being hard to find to manufacture and what raw product is available is being stockpiled for other uses (disposable medical materials). So hopefully we are going to see some light on this issue later next year, but until then, wash-away is be scarce and probably more expensive. I've seen some places selling 20" wide by the yard for $10 a pce. Hope this helps.
The burning works only on Polyester or Rayon thread? I think one thread burns or leaves brown color.
