Luxury product with a really good sound. But under USD 2.000 you can buy really good products. In my opinion (i had tested many products) the good sound had been resolved many years ago and for now brands are releasing more features, diferent tuning, and other features to add value to their products. I think the only thing that is missing in astell&kern products is their after sales service (is not good as their products). However i will be happy to try this new device, unfortunately is too expensive amd for now i cannot afford it. Good review by the way and Moon Audio is a really good store!!!
Just bought the SP2000 myself as go figure lol. This always happens to me about the time a new line comes out. However, it might be splitting straws at this point.
I am sure the SP3000 is a great player. Maybe even better the the SP2000 but does it matter as probably not. If I wanted a little more power or a 4.4 mm instead. Then the SP3000 might be a worthy upgrade.
However, a revamped UI & bit faster processor. Is not reason enough to change now. Smaller drive was probably a compromise, but I think I will be keeping my SP2000.

Just when I thought that Acro CA 1000 and silver upgraded cable was the perfect match for my Elites..
Intend to buy a DAP for listening via my high-end stereo using Tidal hi-res for streaming via the Roon surface. Imagine to sit in my chair while flipping the catalog on Roon and selecting music via WLAN or Bluetooth. Not sure if that will be possible - feed-backs welcomed!

256Gb is a shame, given SP2000 has 512Gb. Lossless did not become less "heavy", not cool A&K, not cool.
Downgrading capacity and increasing price that far is a real shame ! It supposed to be 1TB right now like in console wars.
Nice review! I moved my micro card from my AK100 to the SP3000. SP3000 does not recognize it. Anything I need to change in the setup?

You would still get a benefit out of using this DAP with those headphones! That said, to get the most out of this DAP a more premium set of headphones would sound even better if you ever wanted to upgrade!

Dès que j'ai vendu ma chaîne, je me paie le Focal Utopia et après, ben après, ça sera tout ok!!!

How much of a sound quality upgrade would you say this over a Mojo 2?
It's a pretty large upgrade across the board. Sound quality along this unit competes more closely with the Hugo 2 than the Mojo 2.

May I ask how many Gain levels the machine has? L , M , H and higher?
The SP3000 auto switches gain based on the volume level adjustments. It works very well and we've had no issue using anything from IEMs to power-hungry planar headphones. 🙂

I am very curious about SP3000. Does it sound more resolving than Hugo 2?
To our ears we find it to be resolving as the Hugo 2, but the sound is a touch warmer.

This DAP does use Android, it ships with Android 11, that said it is far from stock Android. It's A&K's own shell built on top of android so it will be very different from using a stock Android DAP/Phone.

How does this dap compare to the Sony nw wm1zm2? Also no expandable storage and only 256 gb? What a joke you are paying $3700 dollars for a device with no expandable memory.
It does have expandable storage, it has a MicroSD slot that supports up to 1TB of storage space! We find it to be an excellent alternative to the Sony NW-WM1ZM2. This unit has more of a detailed/neutral sound whereas the Sony has a very "warm" sound. 🙂
Need it? No. Want it? Yes. Going to buy it for $3700? Not in this lifetime.
For $3700 you could buy a new phone, laptop, and a nice dac/amp for each of them. Way more features on a phone/laptop versus this audio player and when you pair either of them with a nice dac/amp, you get the sound quality as well. These products make no sense to me at all.
i wanted it sold my sp2k and bought the sp3k… paired it with my lcd5, utopia, zmf sometimes with my susvara plus Cayin C9 in the chain … pairs nice too with my Odin and Evo iem.. happy camper!!!

The problem with these devices is that they are good for a few years until battery craps out and/or the software comes obsolete, then the nice DAC and amp in them become useless. Bye bye expensive DAP. I mean i can say the same for any mobile device like cellphones, but they are not really $3700. 😂
i haven't noticed terrible battery degradation in my DAPs over the past few years. sure it goes down a bit but i wouldnt consider them obsolete.
...A friend of mine had some problems dealing with AK customer support. They sent his SP2000 to Korea for the battery replacement . After two or so months the DAP arrived in ugly condition - scratches , gaps between front panel and the case, etc...in other words the support team could not even get the player together properly. So he sent it in again and this story took another a couple of months... I mentioned all this just in case of what to expect if something goes wrong... I would recommend to do some research prior pulling the trigger...

At this rate sp10000 is going to cost £10,000 then...⏰️⏳️🛢☀️😀These new Ak 4499ex flagship dac can not be 8 core though,to have four of them in a dap and not blow up..Thank you.
