    About the Brooke Shields episode, the Alice in Wonderland story is in the Public Domain, so that is not the reason why it is missing. The reason why it is missing is because the episode used elements from The Wizard of Oz, including the music, and I doubt that WB would just let Disney use the music from Oz no matter how much Disney offered them in royalties.

  • @WiiMan3121
    @WiiMan3121 3 роки тому +21

    I'm glad we're getting a lot of episodes and more than likely we'll get the Brooke Shields episode somewhere down the line over time once the music writes are settled with MGM. After all MGM owns the song we're off to see the wizard from The wizard of Oz. Also I think Disney is still settling more of the music rights for some of their episodes which means if they are settled then the collection will be updated soon.

    When it comes to the music, most of my frustration would be directed towards the msicic industry who are so infamous with their rights BS as any regular traveler of the net should know.
    I've been bingibg Scrubs on DP some of the music used in certain episodes has been replaced with (really bad) substitutes. • @SomeBoiOnline
      @SomeBoiOnline  3 роки тому +5

      Yes in my experience music rights are particularly challenging to tackle. Even here on UA-cam, 'fair use' can be applied to footage etc. However music is a whole other ball game.

    • @theshadowdirector
      @theshadowdirector 3 роки тому +3

      @@SomeBoiOnline the issue is the constant buerocracy, having rights carved up for different mediums in different countries which will honestly just lead to film and TV productions not wanting to use licensed music anymore, severely limiting the potential of different art forms mixing and collaborating. The final kicker is that smaller music artists may find it harder to get their tracks licensed and used, thus limiting potential exposure, all because the rights to their work is potentially under a label that might try and price gouge and hold said rights hostage later.

Second, he didn't just appear on screen for one episode. He wrote for the show for three seasons. That's more than half the run. Still, it's ironic. They put him in because they wanted to avoid the controversy associated with Richard Pryor's freebasing accident, but they retroactively stumbled into another one.

    • @AndrewsMagicandMore
      @AndrewsMagicandMore 3 роки тому +1

      Methinks part of the complaining comes from the people who were wondering why the last two seasons NEVER showed up on DVD; they were supposed to be released back in 2010 - there was cover artwork prepared for Season 4's release, only for Disney to pull the DVD sets out of the company's home media release schedule before they ever made it to their release schedule(s) for reasons currently unknown.
      It's also said that the rights for S4 and S5 HAD been cleared long before Disney Plus came into being.
      That or why it is that Disney sat on the show until Disney Plus came along (something they express for shows they produce & thus own outright; but rarely do for shows produced for/by other divisions particularly those not directly tied to the Disney name such as ABC).

      @@ScooterinAB Choosing not to show an episode lauding a man who was convicted of possessing explicit images and videos of children is hardly "erasing someone from history". It's more a matter of taste than anything - Langham is still a credited writer of I dare even say the vast majority of episodes of the show, but his guest star episode puts him front and centre as though he's someone particularly worthy of praise as the guest stars always are. It's no different than Kevin Spacey being fired from House of Cards, or cutting Jimmy Savile from reruns of Top of the Pops and posthumously revoking his honours, or New York based shows and films cutting out references to the WTC in the immediate aftermath of 9/11.
      And in any case, it's not as though these missing episodes are completely unavailable never to be seen by the public because they don't happen to be on Disney+. It's really not hard to find the Chris Langham episode (or the full versions of any episodes that have been edited/aren't hosted on Disney+) if someone really wants to see it.

    Point 1) In Britain the commercial stations were under a tighter regime of regulation(geez, I wish our ACMA in Australia was as tough on our commercial stations), so they were very limited in how many ads could be run in a break, and how many breaks were permitted during a programme. In america it's "we interrupt our stream of ads to show a bit of the scheduled programme!" Point 2) The Henson Family decidedly should take back the rights to the Muppet franchise(characters, movies and TV shows) as Disney has wantonly abused their privilege of holding such a property as this.

    There is a tiny cut in the season 1 Ben Vereen episode. During the Statler & Waldorf ending tag after the credits, Waldorf tells Statler “By the way your pants are on fire.” That part is there but Statler’s responding yell is cut. You just here him say “hmm?” Before he’s supposed to yell “Ohhhh!!” The yell is cut. It may just be a mistake from an old master edit. This is how it originally aired cut in the US with the full yell airing in the UK, But on the official released of the season one DVD it was restored and it’s even mentioned as a special feature pop up that it wasn’t in the original US airing. From my knowledge it’s the same on Disney+ everywhere that tiny bit is cut. At least it’s on the dvd.
