    I never thought about how Suni flew under the radar in 2020 but it’s so true. Idk if it was cause the pandemic had people acting weird or if people were so focused on making fun of Simone for withdrawing, but suni really didn’t get her flowers. She came from behind to carry the US on her back in all around, moved ahead of Rebecca Andrade from qualifications, and literally saved the US’s dynasty in all around and it’s like no one cares.

      The biggest issue is no one identifies with her. The main reason Simone & gabby are popular is because how much black people identify with them.

      Nobody cares about Suni's achievements? Not sure where you got this idea.
      She was celebrated like all the other women all-around gold medalists from the US have been with various high-profile television interviews, magazine covers, and everything. Carly Patterson from 2004 is arguably the one who got the least attention. Nastia, Shawn (altho silver winner in AA but gold on beam), Gabby, and Simone are the others.
      Suni participated in "dancing with the stars" like Shawn Johnson, and Laurie Hernandez did right after their Olympics.
      Then Suni was one of the first wave of professional US Olympic medallists to compete in NCAA in 2021-22 season. Jade Carey, Grace McCallum and Jordan Chiles are the other medallists, all of whom are still competing in college, except Jordan, who took the year off to prepare for these Olympics. She plans to return to UCLA next season.
      (Jade and Leanne Wong are somehow balancing college with training elite to prep for an Olympic run, as is Konnor McClain and several other NCAA gymnasts from other countries.)
      Watch any Auburn (Suni's team) meet in 2022 and note how often they mention her name. Also note everything they say about her including how she has single-handedly brought national attention to an otherwise rather obscure team/college.
      How their attendance is a sellout every meet although they are in a location that is not densely populated to put it mildly.
      How the school overachieved to reach the final four in the national championships, which wildly exceeded their past achievements.
      If you still think Suni is not recognized enough, who are you using as a comparison? ❤

      @@gymlandia4467Why do you think people only like gymnasts based on whether the skin color of the gymnast matches the skin color of the person watching? This sounds like an extremely narrow and immature perspective.
      Difficulty of skills, execution, style are all irrelevant?
      My reply to the OP talks about Suni's popularity, which it seems both of you have missed out on.
      But it's not too late to catch up. ❤

    Simone is always #1 and GOAT. Shilese has a lot of potential on floor, bars and beam. Both of them are nearly locked.
    Jade is going to Jade her way out on floor, which will help her score 14 to mid 14. If she ditches L hop 1/1 & switch 1/1, her score will rise.
    If Gabby does a 6.4D bars and her execution is like what she showed in the training video, she will go 15+ on bars. Her beam will go 14 to mid 14 without rings.
    The 5th spot is wild open.

    • @asharadayne6159
      @asharadayne6159 2 місяці тому +1

      Jade did a Switch 1/2 and a Popa in her most recent NCAA routine, and those are two C elements right there that are a better fit for her. The only benefit of aiming for a switch 1/1 is that she's probably also gonna get a 0.1 precision deduction for the switch 1/2, so she might as well attempt the D skill over the C one.

      @@asharadayne6159 Yes, I love Jade's NCAA dance elements! What worries me for her switch 1/1 is the locked 0.3 shape. Her switch 1/2 on floor is pretty good, maybe 0-0.1 shape. That precision deduction can be avoided sometimes.

    • @ansonpang
      @ansonpang 2 місяці тому

      Gabby is not going 15+ every time on a 6.4D. Getting a 8.6 consistently is not easy.
      Gabby is 100% bringing rings on beam, she needs it to pad the difficulty. I think she's doing the switch ring alone and then trying to do the switch leap mount + switch 1/2 leap + ring jump.

      Back tuck 1/1
      BHS LOSO

    great power rankings Langston. I love this for Shilese. so awesome for her that she was just left off as an *alternate* last quad and this quad she's (barring injury) a lock. I also agree about Jade. she's such a jock, one of my faves, and I expect her to bring it. her vaults are easily the best in the US behind Simone, and she's the only one to have beaten Simone in YEARS on vault without a fall. also, her bars and beam are actually decent and very dependable. she's just an ATHLETE. I think the team should be: Simone, Shilese, Jade, Gabby, & Leanne or Kayla, depending on who looks better bc Kayla's stock is rising after pan ams and winter cup even tho I know you hate her bent-knees gymanstics LOL. if she's high in the AA rankings in the lead up or places top 3 AA at trials (which feels possible if leanne has mistakes) I think she's get it.

  • @ansonpang
    @ansonpang 2 місяці тому +4

    Omg your takes are so good! It's so extremely objective and I agree with most of your ranking. Your top 3 are so clearly locks to me if they hit their potential. I love that you're acknowledged that Simone, Shilese are very likely making the team but that need to be weary of potential pitfalls at Paris, I did not think beforehand that Shi can have a Jordyn Wieber moment and now I'm scared... Shi really needs to upgrade her bars if she wants a medal though, Kaylia and Qiu ain't playing around, and you have Alice D'Amato, Melanie and Becky trying to get 6.6 routines (although all are inconsistent), and the second Chinese who competes on bars will also not be playing around, maybe it will be Huang Zhuofan.
    I completely respect you put Gabby at #4, but we really have no idea what her competitive shape is like in terms of consistency. I want to put her at #3-4 as well if she's top 5 AA at Nationals, Trials. Her potential is so high and she can be such a huge contributor to USA, but we really don't know if she's consistent or whether her scores hold up, I don't know whether she meets the artistry check boxes. I can't bet on Texas (yas Beyonce album drop), because I gotta see the routines and not base my predictions on my assumptions. Her missing out on Winter Cup is so sad. The Olympics are like 4 months away and we haven't seen any routines yet! So ridiculous she wasn't asked to camp. I will put her above Suni at #6 after Jordan.
    Leanne is the biggest question mark for me. I don't know whether she will have the difficulty or upgrades in time, although she is competing the switch leap mount and double wolf right now at NCAA so I guess those are beam upgrades we'll see in elite. I wanna see her go all out on floor (like 2021 difficulty) and beam (like start doing Front Aerial + Ring Jump, and Side Aerial + LOSO again, like she needs to connect stuff). Her bars are whatever, it won't be a team final routine but a good backup, and her DTY is consistently clean.
    Jordan is another question mark - the potential is there, but I don't know what difficulty she's bringing. Her floor construction is extremely key, scoring 14.1-14.4s will be amazing for her. I am still not sure if she should do 3 or 4 tumbling passes because her dance skills are all C-rated, and I don't think she should go for the triple wolf and stick to the double. She needs to take out the L hop asap, same as Jade Carey. Likewise to your video, my question is where are the promised vault upgrades? Same with Skye's Cheng. I am also scared because Josc and Jess upgraded to the Cheng and got injured last year.
    I think you're sleeping on Kayla Dicello lol, her beam is definitely overscored but I think her floor has upgrade potential (she's practicing the double layout and Chuso and that might bring her floor difficulty to 6.2), and her beam will hold her back but she's consistent af and I see her scoring 56s+ at both Nationals and Trials. With only 5 gymnasts breaking the 56 barrier at 2023 Worlds, I trust her to hit... for now. The upgrades might be too much for her. She might take Leanne's/Jordan's spot and I won't be surprised. I will put her above Skye and below Gabby at #7.
    I don't want to see Joscelyn and Trinity at Paris, I'm sorry. They don't have the X factor. I really want to see Skye, but her falls are concerning and I don't want her to cost the team gold. I will still put her on Worlds teams in 2025-2027 to allow her to refresh and get a second wind, just like how Jordan, Leanne, and Shilese is succeeding this quad. If she can figure out floor and upgrade vault, she can be an AA medal contender next quad. I really don't know what the hell Konnor is doing right now, and I agree with your take on Kaliya.

    I agree on a lot of what you are saying, however, Simone Biles watered down her bars, beam, and floor routines for the 2023 competitions. If she does her highest difficulty, she will clear everyone. And she was robbed on execution value at the 2023 world beam finals, 8.3 was just too damn low. If her execution score was 8.9-9.5 like it should have been, she would have cleared like always. Again, with a watered down routine.

    NOTHING BUT FACTS FACTS FACTS. 1. Simone: you are right she has never been this close to getting beaten before this is not like old times where she had four points ahead of everyone else. Shi and rebe can beat her with a mistake so the pressure is on for Simone. She has never been in this position. 2. Shilese: All the praise goes to her!!! The life that you are speaking into her is amazing but she has to turn tf up. She hasn’t be in a situation where anyone was challenging her from the US until now. We all want her to have the best games. She can make AA, UB, and even Balance beam and fx finals. We love Shilese! 3. “The queen of caucasians”🤣 “I know Joscelyn scared”🤣 Jade peaks internationally and stands on fucking business and medals
    I have to say I will rank gabby high off of potential but I wouldn’t bet on her beating shilese bc we haven’t seen full routines yet. I really have to wait to classics to see how high I rank gabby. I’m not doubting her at all bc if gabby is coming she is coming to make this team!
    Thank you for giving Skye her props no one else besides Simone can fall on beam and give a usable score. Also we ain’t gone down a black woman too much now. Give her that grace like they give their favorite Becky’s. Not saying you have to be delusional but don’t be so hard on her. I’m banking on Skye being top 3 AA, BB and top 4 on vt and UB. I wouldn’t rank Konnor above Kayla D. We haven’t seen Konnor do full elite routines or seen her since 2022. And you say you are not delusional, but if Konnor didn’t win nationals she wouldn’t even be as much as a factor. Not downing her but we basing everything off of 2022. J. Chiles is reminding me of Morgan Hurd last quad around this time. Hopefully that’s not the case as she makes more sense than Leanne (especially after worlds) in terms of her potential on all 4 events. If Chiles can come back from injury and perform like she did this time last quad she’ll be on the Team over Leanne. Haven’t heard of any upgrades from Wong so we will see. Sunisa Lee is going to need to hit from this point forward to make a case for herself as a 2-event(?) gymnast. Clearly A Sac + Memmel are rewarding consistency so they are all going to have to prove themselves. But I agree that they should be picking teams in terms of medals. They are really hoping for Joselyn Robertson and Kayla DiCello. If either of them make the team they will be used as the scapegoat for the Olympic judges to absolutely tear Team USA up wherever they can. This team could look so many different ways as there is so much unknowns right now. But I seriously love how you made this a Power Ranking List like NFL. This is exactly what we needed going into Classics ❤

      I don’t think Kayla is behind Leanne at her best anymore, Leanne just really doesn’t have the difficulty on bars/beam these days. And Leanne used to be better at floor in 2021 but these days Leanne got what 13.3 at Worlds while Kayla got 13.733 at Pan Ams and just upgraded from there as well.

      Kayla tied a pretty good performance from Flavia at Pan Ams who was way ahead of Leanne at Worlds ergo Kayla is stronger on floor right now than Leanne. Leanne hasn't been at her best on floor since 2021.
      As for Kayla vs. Jordan, Kayla is definitely better on beam and Jordan definitely on vault. Bars I'm not sure, Jordan has great ability on bars but doesn't have a great routine composition which is why she's maxing out around 14.1. Floor she SHOULD be ahead of Kayla by a lot at her best but also had some weird skill choices in 2023 - her 2022 composition was much more suitable for her.
      Plus for the selection it's all going to be based on domestic scores anyways which are going to be even more favorable to overlooking Kayla's built in errors.

Even if so she doesn’t have a great Cheng & potential Amanar.

      Marta would have picked Simone, Suni, Jordan, and would have told Jade: "To hell with your nominative spot, we need you on the team, we will just have to su-k up the loss of your nominative spot. I care about quality not quantity" As for that 2nd nominative spot, I don't know who Marta would have assigned it to, maybe Kara Eaker? Or perhaps she would have given it to MyKayla Skinner as the consolation prize that it was (but in the end, M.S. did bring home silver even though just by chance). Well, that was the best he could do considering Gabby hasn’t competed since 2016. We’ve haven’t seen much from her this year, yes, but we dare not underestimate Gabby. Few expected her to be one of the best gymnast in 2012, yet she became the Olympic all-around champion in London. She was doubted her in her comeback, yet she made the Olympic team to Rio in 2016. She’s shown us time and time again that she is far better than we give her credit for. And not to compare any gymnasts, but if you actually think about it, Gabby does have a better chance than most of the current top American gymnasts at making the Olympic team to Paris, which is why she was #4 on his power ranking.

Her BB wouldn’t be close to beating Zhou from 2016 & she’s improved dramatically on UB since 2016. Rebe’s best scores from worlds beat Simone’s AA score.
