She didn’t seem that upset. Plus she held Tom’s hand until the top step. She probably was a bit taken back but, they are not going to embarrass Tom. They are all very polite.
I also recognize the look she gave Tom at that precise moment. She connected with his eyes and was probably flattered, though slightly uncomfortable. However the switch of the handbag was to make sure there were no further distractions of that nature. I reckon she was as pleased to be in the company of the film star as many other women might be.
She wasn't upset because she knew it was coming. It was confirmed this whole thing was prearranged and all parties involved agreed to do it. Does everyone really think organizers leave stuff up to chance and don't plan these events to the microsecond, particularly if they know actual Royals will be present? The Cambridges and Tom Cruise were well aware they were going to do this, so there were no surprises and nothing more than a nicely executed photo op.
I never thought anything about Tom Cruise offering a hand to Duchess Catherine, it's what a gentleman does for a lady. The lady accepts, done & over with.
But the people who say wearing a crown makes them someone, have so so so many protocols about how to be "more" appropriate to them than treating them like equal human beings. That's why things would be read into - they make sure there's always stuff to read into.
This was a non event and I don’t know why anyone is making a big deal out if it.. and I can’t stand CRUISE.. This is just becoming ridiculous picking on absolutely EVERYTHING.. If it was the Queen it would be a different story but Kate is amazing and it’s NO BIG DEAL..
Any acts of kindness anywhere is now taken as bad. Really don't know why just makes people wary of helping in the first place . Maybe the husband should be pleased that he was stopping her from tripping in the first place
She said “oh thank you” he did it very respectfully and dropped her hand immediately after she was up those steps. Loved it. She was such a lady to accept it.
Tom broke protocol but it wasn’t disrespectful. Holding out a hand to help a women in a long dress and heels climb stairs is a very nice gesture, normally it would show respect and politeness. I think Tom was showing good manners, that’s it, it was a lovely gesture.
William might have offered it first but her purse was in that hand then. So crazy. Glad I am just a regular person. Tom Cruise is an amazing guy who often gets shit from the media for absolutely nothing.
I'm not a fan of Tom Cruise on a personal level, but do like some of his movies. That being said, I don't think for a second he was trying to be anything but a gentleman, helping Catherine up the stairs, it wasn't a publicity stunt. Keep in mind, that as an American you don't deal with Royalty, and when you do, no matter how well rehearsed you might be in Royal protocol, you just may revert back to what is natural to you in your culture, especially if you are nervous. Kudos to Catherine for being sensitive to this and accepting nothing more than a helping hand with grace.
I agree, I think Catherine realized that this was a cultural difference and it wasn't any attempt to break protocol, just an effort to be a gentleman, so she took it as such.
I’m sorry but they are royals from British people, not for everybody in the world. Why he (Tom) should stop being a gentleman if they are not royalty for Americans.
Being gentlemanly in this day and age of rabid feminism seems odd! I'm so glad Tom Cruise showed the world there are still gentlemen and Catherine showing the world a lady accepts such gestures! Psa: it is proper etiquette when a lady is in heels for a man to guide her up steps.
Being a gentleman, chivalrous, thoughtful, kind and especially respectful… that was all Tom Cruise was about (and usually is). Even though it was unexpected and not ‘protocol’, Kate took his hand to be polite and not cause embarrassment by refusing it. She said ‘Thankyou” twice, at the beginning and the end of Tom’s gesture. That’s how decent people behave!
@@carmelitajones7779 Except that she did have a slight smile (pleasure) before her jaw got tense as her mind took over then and she thought: OMG protocol !
It wouldn't have happened because it's been confirmed the whole thing was planned. No way these events are not coordinated to the T, especially when it comes to actual Royalty and a huge Hollywood star. They don't leave anything up to chance. This whole set up was agreed to by the Cambridges and Tom, and it was pulled off wonderfully.
I think it was perfectly executed. He did not hold on too long, released her hand, stepped back behind the couple as he should have. We have lost the old ways of style, manners and etiquette in the ways of being a gentleman and treating a lady at all times.
What a sad world we live in when someone simply offers a helping hand to another human being, and all hell breaks loose. It's 2022 and people still wish to play the "them and us game".
This really annoys me about the royals. They’re too royal to be touched? Get over it. I’m sure this drove Diana crazy because she was so warm and loving.
Tom is insanely polite in general. He is an old school gentleman 100%. I’m not a fan on any level as an individual or actor, but I’ve seen him on talk shows and he’s actually as genuinely polite & kind as he appears. Kirsten Dunst once spoke about his kindness and mentioned he still sends her a Christmas cake every year and has done so since they filmed interview with the vampire when Kristen was 11.
The protocols are stupid. Most Americans would not have noticed. The British, perhaps less so than in the past! I remember when Obama touchéd the Queen’s back or shoulder on a state visit. Americans did not make much of it but I think they did in Britain.
@@blaise6652 He did not lose his cool.that I can see! He has been friendly with William for a while. Tom said they both love aviation. He arranged for them to see the movie weeks before that red carpet event.
Definitely NOT staged. I would even dare to say that at 4:10 Tom Cruise remembers about protocol and let go of her hand and just politely shows her the way. What a gentleman 👏
As an American, we would think offering a lady a hand is exactly the kind of old world politeness that would be expected around aristocrats and royalty.
I agree. I'm an Australian and our former Prime Minister Paul Keating was abused in the British press for having his hand hovering, for a second, above the Queen's back of waist, while introducing HM to a line of people. Reaching out is a momentary human habit. Tom was being kind not malicious. And he picked up on it at second staircase. I thought 'oh nice'. End of story.
I think you're spot on, this wasn't staged. She made the correct decision in a nano second. Yes, she was surprised but she was also quick to understand American gestures and customs and there's no way that she would snub an American guest on a British Red Carpet. I think she's been incredibly well trained, has been doing her 'Royal Duties Homework' for years and takes her role seriously. She actually handled this very gracefully.
I don’t believe it was. I think Tom, in the moment, fell back into his movie star escort role where he helps the ladies in the high heels on the red carpet. Anyway, no harm done, nobody died. If it was the Queen (nobody touches the Queen!) I believe she would have reacted the same way with grace and dignity. The Montecito one however would have jumped up and down, gurned, and run and hugged him wearing an emerald tiara. So no harm done eh?
If only Americans were quick to understand others' customs. And it isn't as if Cruise would not have been briefed on protocol with the royals prior to this.
Catherine had never looked more beautiful or more confident. Although Tom’s gentlemanly gesture was a surprise, Catherine handled it with grace and aplomb. Catherine is a great example to us all.
When I was watching this on the news I immediately noticed Catherine moved her clutch from her right hand to her left! Very subtle and well done Catherine.
😂😂😂 I love this . It’s so classy and graceful, how she swapped the bag . It brings me back to Megan 😂 shoving the elderly gentleman’s hand away when he tried to help her out on her wedding day 😂😂. I shouldn’t laugh although it just shows a huge difference in manners. Regardless to the situation of how comfortable they are . Well one Catherine x
Chill people… Given that Tom is the host of the said event, He welcomed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with warmth & respect. I think his gesture is natural instinct of a true gentleman period.
Yes, chill folks, if it was an old princess/duchess, Tom would have done the same ! They will have to adapt to that behavior…What guy wouldn’t love to help a beautiful duchess up the steps… That most likely made Tom’s day….William knows his wife, it took her by surprise, and William just reassured her it’s alright….Prince William doesn’t miss a thing, that’s his calling , to be on the alert !!
@@jeanjackson2324 please!!! What a lot of crap!! They are together a very long time and she does not need to ask him what she can and cannot do!! Besides, it was rehearsed
He is being an American gentleman. We need to start to praise men when they are gentlemen and not criticize them. Gentlemen are a dying breed in the world now a days.
"It was such a missed opportunity that William didn't pitch Catherine for a gig in Hollywood." The subtle shade was superb, Jesus! I was taking a sip when you said that and nearly choked!
Did you notice Tom started up the stairs first and quickly stopped, then turned and put his hand out realizing he went ahead of the Royal couple. I truly think it was at that point an automatic response to be a gentleman. He then pauses, almost clicks his heels, turns stiffly as they pass him to start up the next set of steps. Following behind in a very respectful manner. It was as if both Katherine and Tom resumed as if things were back in place and the awkwardness fades.
I saw Tom Cruise's gesture as purely natural in being a gentleman. A shame that you don't see many other men doing that kind of behavior anymore for fear of being called a 'sexist'.
What do I think? I think Tom Cruise is a class act and gentleman and that William and Catherine managed the situation with their usual grace and dignity. I give them all a thumbs up!
I'm not a fan of Tom's, but I can see he was just being a gentleman and she was being polite in accepting. If his offer to assist her was a faux pas, she handled it with grace. The end.
Love this analysis. I immediately picked up that Tom broke Royal protocol, but did it out of kindness to assist Kate up the stairs. Great to see the photos breaking down the micro-expressions and gestures that happen so quickly,
A wonderful moment for all viewing. Just a sudden, simple connection, but glorious. Just lapped it up like a kitten with cream. What the world needs. Signs of life with kindness. I love all three of them to bits.
@@krissuyx thx someone with some brain ... whats with this royal crap... at least Tom Cruise did something "productiv"... not that i am a fan of the sientology shit.
It was a spontaneous, potentially awkward moment and Tom Cruise reacted in what he perceived to be a gentlemanly gesture. Catherine, caught off guard reacted like the lady she is and gently accepted his outstretched hand, knowing that it was simply a gentlemanly gesture on his part. No more, no less! It’s not like he clung to her hand….he dropped his hand almost immediately.
Kate was in conversation with Tom and Tom did the classy thing one does for a lady with a long dress and heels. One would be extend their hand and offer assistance. It’s not like they were holding hands during the whole event.
Key phrase.. GENTLY ACCEPTED his hand...if that were Harry's wife...she would have smacked it away... because you know... she's such a rude, entitled B**ch
@@Chuck0856 No. Cruise was extending courtesy, as the two concluded speaking while approaching the first set of stairs with Kate's left hand remaining free to his side. William was distracted -- fussing with his bow tie & shirt -- while looking away. After Cruise's brief escort, when Kate moved her purse into her left hand, she was then allowing for her husband to escort her up the taller staircase, but William missed the chance -- he neither made eye contact with Kate, nor offered his hand, while still looking at the crowds and continuing to fuss with his bowtie in between patting his chest & belly area. For whatever reason, William temporarily suspended his gallant interaction with Kate. To me, it wasn't William's best moment in a technical sense: he was seemingly fidgety while anxious about his outfit, while allowing Tom Cruise to play the leading man for a nano-moment. Perhaps William was overly excited about the event somehow. Everybody is entitled to a slightly awkward moment, so I think it's no big deal for either man. And Kate was gracious as always. Tom Cruise was ever the gentlemen to such a quintessential lady who's understandably admired worldwide (unlike Markle). William & Kate are a class act.
I love that she instinctively swapped her bag to the other hand. It all happened very quickly and probably unexpectedly with little time to think, but her automatic response in the couple of seconds it took to reach the top of those steps was to show loyalty to her husband by putting her bag between her and Tom Cruise. Not that anything was meant by the gesture of helping her up the steps other than Tom being a gentleman. Anyway,it’s just heartening in a world that is often tacky and crude to know that you can always depend on William and Catherine to be classy in any situation.
Female members of the Royal family, also use their handbag placement as a signal to their ppl. So I bet a human blocker was put eventually in between her and him
Tom has respect for the Crown and traditions of the United Kingdom. He did same thing with Diana. Tom is a gentleman and he genuinely admires Kate just as he admired Diana.....as an American, I appreciate the UK and their traditions, I think it's the traditions that make the UK fascinating world wide.
They’re just all elitist psychopaths. Anyone whose paid even a microsecond of attention knows that the royal family are all Pete owe files, and Cruise is way high up in Scientology. Scientology is L Ron Hubbards version of his best friend Alister Crowley’s Order of the Golden Dawn, Thelema, and other secret satanic brotherhoods. Pay closer attention. Ever see the videos about how Charles was BFF of Jaimie Saville? Look him up. He talked about “eating the fingernails and left over skin” of his child vics whom he ray ped. The staff at Buckingham Palace said that he had free reign of the place, and would pop in unexpectedly at all hours of the night and sometimes pop out of rooms or closets they had zero freaking clue that anyone whatsoever was around aside from themselves and the Queen mother. She knew him quite well. Charles made him The Godfather of his children for crying out loud. Now if one recalls Charles bragging about the family being the direct descendants of Vlad the Impaler, aka Bram Stoker’s source for his character, a parasitic blood drinking vampire named Dracula. This fits precisely with what Saville, when bragging about being a high warlock and wizard, said about the blood of the young which has always been a key aspect in Talmudic Babylonian ritual orgy and sacrifice. Now you put in the role of folks like Epstein, and the entire picture becomes crystal effing clear, especially the fact that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Bill Clinton, HRC, Prince Andrew. Kevin Spacey, and many many others who are key figures in US and international politics, all working for the Rothschild family that owns the central banks in every nation but three and their new toy the World Economic Forum- you should be able to comprehend their control mechanism. It used to be in the days of the Napoleonic Wars when the R family rose to power that they used peoples secrets such as being gay, being addicted to gambling, cheating on their spouses, and on the heels of the Napoleonic Wars and Rothschild’s appointment of the key first Jewish ambassador to the Crown at the Congress of Vienna, Lord Castlereagh (his contemporary has been Henry Kissinger, whose entire Harvard Pilotical Science and international relations PhD R entirely funded, and whom we now know thanks to declassified documents now available on the National Intelligence Archives website, was the one; NOT Nixon, who ordered the Central Intelligence Agency to conduct the break-ins at the DNC HQ suite at the Watergate Hotel, ordered them flubbed so that they would be discovered and cause an outrage, and ordered them leaked to the press… I digress but you should be able to perceive the massive ramifications and implications to how totally and utterly compromised the government and intelligence apparati of the United States of America has become… I’ll only add that R owns the Private Central banks in every nation on earth but three, owns the Federal Reserve debt slavery dollar printing Central Bank. JFK stopped the Fed and began printing debt free Treasury Bills tied to their value in gold and silver. Who else did this? Lincoln printed debt free Greenbacks on the sovereign right and power of the Federal Government of the United States, in order to avoid the only proffered loan that would have possibly been able to fund the Civil War for his administration and the North. But the loan had such insanely ludicrous crippling debt attached to it that even had the North defeated the Confederacy, the debt would’ve destroyed the reunited nation. Instead one of his advisors suggested the alternate course, and Lincoln, incredulous, asked if he could even actually do such a thing. He was told that that was exactly what the colonies had done, and how their citizens had become so wealthy so quickly, and that King George’s insistence that they cease to do so and instead use the British pound, not the Boston Tea Party, was the true source of the fury that sparked the American Revolution. Andrew Jackson was the President when the first iteration of the Rothschild central bank’s charter was up for renewal in Congress. He campaigned so furiously to successfully defeat it, surviving six known R assassination attempts, and having “I beat the Bank” engraved on his headstone. Would for posterity that it had been “I beat the R Central Bank”, instead, we might not be in the situation of enslavement which the R’s WEF Great Reset (incessantly lobbied for by whom? He has reversed every single Trump action and executive order in order to repair the damages temporarily done to their imminent New World Order. Think
One of the things I admire most about Catherine is her high independence. She was lifting her dress up the stairs without needing help from her husband, or even Tom. But he was kind. Kate and Will understood that. Anyway, they stole the show, as usual. And unfortunately for you know who. It was a good premiere. 💥❤️
I actually really like these two, they seem so much more down to earth than any other royals...except maybe Harry _before_ Megan. There are all kinds of crazy conspiracy theories about the royal family, and I wouldn't be surprised if some are true, but I have a difficult time believing these 2 are a part of it...but what do I know, they could both just be better actors than Amber Heard and Megan Markle. Lol
This elegant, gentlemanly gesture makes me like Tom Cruise very much. Authentic and generous. And Kate was so graceful. It seems appropriate here at a red carpet event.
Tbh I worked in PR and I was involved in several Royal Visits and ribbon cutting ceremonies. I personally found that the most stringent “does and donts” came from the parties with the Royal. They brief you on the protocol prior to the visit. For instance no speaking to a Royal unless they speak to you, you cannot film a Royal from the rear as they walk away, you can only film them from the front as they approach you. Now I had a Royal visit with HRH Princess Anne, I was not on the list of those she would stop to speak to on that occasion. She was there for the spinal Injuries Charity and her visit was to open a new care unit and speak to spinal injury patients. My job that day was to ensure the media and cameras stayed within certain areas and behaved. One reporter tried his lick and I had to read him the riot act and warn him that I could tell the armed officers to remove him if he carried on trying to be sneaky. Her Highness heard me putting this guy in his place and came to talk to me, and was joking that controlling the media was like trying to keep Kittens in a box, so we joked a little and she offered to send me a cattle prod or bullwhip... lol A little further into the visit she came to stand by me during an exhibit of “murder ball”. It’s similar to rugby but the players are in wheelchairs and they are INSANE... during the match she spoke with me and we cringed together at some of the dangerous tackles these players engaged in. She pointed out they seemed fearless and I replied something about “I guess they don’t really fear injury, because very little could injure them anymore” But it definitely seemed like the protocol police were by FAR more uptight than the Princess Royal, she was just enjoying her day, especially as it’s a charity very close to her heart. While the protocol police were handing out rules about what colour TP was in the bathroom we had to set aside for the (which she never used). We have always set a bathroom for Royal use during a visit, but it has NEVER been used. Just demanded by the protocol police. The Royals themselves are pretty laid back. The hangers on however are super uptight. Princess Anne, Princess Diana, The Queen Mother & The Queen are my favourites to work with. Prince Philip was HILARIOUS but you had to prey the whole tome he didn’t say something very un-PC. I didn’t t really like Princess Michael of Kent, she was by far more stuck up that the queen herself. Charles and Camilla are lovely, William, Kate & Harry (pre Meghan) were fun to chat with. But none of the royals were are strict with protocol as the hangers on try to make it. They seem stuck up their own self importance.
Agreed. It happens all the time during American award shows, where male actors help out female actresses walking up the steps while wearing long gowns. I think Tom's immediate reaction to be courtious and nothing more.
There is no acceptable way that Catherine could have rejected TC's gesture without it looking absolutely ridiculous! She gave a clear signal when she switched hands with her purse. Truly royal! 👑👑👑
What if it was Harry who was there and he extended his hand to Catherine to help her up a couple of steps wouldn't that make him look gentlemanly after all Harry's a famous Hollywood movie star now isn't he??
There’s nothing royal about any of these ppl the thrown was stolen, these are Germans sitting on the throne not the original royal family. And even they aren’t royal. Human is human, some rich others poor, they do nothing except be props, to bring in tourist.
Tom Cruise is a perfect gentleman and an ultimate professional, as you say, he is a Royal Family Supporter. One only had to listen to him being interviewed on the evening of the Royal Windsor Horseshow. He spoke so highly of our Monarch, such respect. Others should take a leaf out of his book…….
Catherine was being polite by accepting his “help” but made it clear by switching her purse to her left hand that it was not needed. Having her hand free to lift her dress a bit on the steps was what she needed.
I think your description of what really took place is brilliant because it does away with snap judgements and speculations and offers a careful and objective analysis of their every reaction moment by moment.
Love the idea that William should have talked to Tom about Catherine being in the next Mission Impossible movie!! 😂 I agree Tom just was being a gentleman and Catherine was caught off guard.
Well, I think Tom's gesture was innocent. I think he was being a gentleman to help her up the stairs. In the excitement of the moment, I don't think he gave HRH Prince William the chance to tend to his wife. However, no one should take it the wrong way. Tom was just being a conscientious host.
Lady Colin Campbell says when wearing a long gown women prefer not to have someone hold their hand so they can handle their gown, I totally agree with her. Sometimes you need your hands to lift your dress so you don't trip, which is why Prince William would not have offered his hand.
It was a pleasant gesture from Tom Cruise and Catherine responded politely. Responding with a refusal would attract more attention and negative comments . She was gracious and knew how to act and everything was wonderful and natural.
I really LOVE your often "down-to-earth" style of reading a situation/s most especially when the person/s involved are featured regularly. I wish you had been around 40 yrs ago!! I am a retired LEO ...I spent my last 23 yrs as a Detective, and went to Quanico for training. I was always good, but not nearly as good as you are!! Thank You ✨️ 👏
It would have been humiliating for Catherine to not have taken Tom’s hand. He moved quickly to offer his hand to help- Wills and Catherine took it in their stride without causing discomfort for others- TC is a tad over enthusiastic at all times he was on his best behavior.
I am so glad you tackled this sequence of events because it has caused a lot of gossip. My view was that Tom was excited and really wanted to make a good impression so he offered his hand as a show of good manners I think his mom probably drilled into him. William's hand on Catherine's back was a touch of reassurance, I've got your back, relax message for his wife. That message was loud and clear to me . My wife! A claiming touch for the men drawn by Catherine's charm and beauty. She really has great charisma that is very attractive to everyone she meets.
It causes gossip because people are mentioning it.. and I didn’t know about it until NOW.. I’m afraid even JESUS bringing it up is ridiculous and doing a critique on their actions when it’s absolutely a NON EVENT is just perpetrating the gossip.. I wish Jesus just mentioned it while doing another video saying he’s not FUELING IDLE GOSSIP because it was NOTHING!!
I agree with your assessment. This wasn’t planned and Tom was just being a gentleman. He pulled back afterwards and followed proper protocol. Your fashion sense is impeccable. 😉
Thank you again for your brilliant analysis! As someone commented before me! The Royal family will take it in their stride! I'm sure with many different cultures from around the world! That very polite gesture from Tom cruise! Was nothing more! Than they have experienced many times!
Nobody has mentioned that Tom grew up in a household of women, he's got a lot of sisters. He grew up learning about manners, I promise you, lol! And yes, Catherine looks like a movie star!
True! My son learned from early age to open doors, offer a hand , seat a girl first etc. He even learned how to dance from his older sister because " Girls like to be treated nicely, like a lady . They also would prefer a boy who knows how to really dance, not look like a frog in a blender." Guess who was getting all the brownie points when he started dating 😉. His lovely wife told me that first 2 things that impressed her when they met was that he was good looking ( can't take credit for that, pure genetics) and his manners.
It looked as though she even said, "Thank you?" Then immediately changed hands with her clutch. We've all been through similar situations. It was definitely unexpected and spontaneous.
I think Scientology affected Tom negatively; however, Tom is the kind of msn that would do that without thinking. He's nearly 60. He would see it ad the gentlemanly thing to do
@@smithface8791: Re your comment: "How 'gentlemanly' has he (TC) been to his wives???" 🎯 EXACTLY!! Anyone who is even slightly aware of the man's personality behind the pearly tooth smile & jumping on sofas knows what he is capable of.
It was very obvious Catherine was taken off guard by Tom, several times, but by changing the handbag to Tom's side quickly rectified the issue. William was watching Tom the entire time before watching the film, and no doubt, in future, William & Catherine will be more alert to Toms friendly gestures. It comes naturally for Tom to be this friendly, though, as we have seen him through the years. Thank you, Jesus.
Appreciate you covering this moment. I knew Tom was being polite but with your review, saw how differential he behaved with the Duchess. The Cruise cool continues.
And you even see Tom recognized her silent gesture by switching her clutch into the hand to the side he's on, he instantly knew that she wanted him to not offer his hand in a respectful silent way. And I have to say, the gesture from William to Catherine is so beautiful, his hand around her waist. Him saying "it's all okay hun" and so her mesmerizing smile came right back 🥺❤️ And Tom Cruise, besides all the things we know about him, he is simply a gentleman here, you can even see him trying to hide his excitement, like a little boy 😁
I believe Tom was honored to have TRHs attend his premiere. He was being 💯 a gentleman! Anyone who follows the Royals will not read anything into it. For those who are trying to make something out his gesture, remember the days when BP would hold formal State dinners with other dignitaries (the women would be resplendent in jewels & tiaras; oh how I miss those days of grandeur)? I can guarantee you, gentlemanly manners abound around her all the time (as it should be)!! Her hand nearest Tom was free, and he simply offered to assist her up a few flights of stairs.
The night was a fundraising event in aid of The Film and TV Charity, which supports people working behind the scenes in the UK’s screen sector. It was Tom doing William and Kate a favour. And a night for all to promote themselves.
I agree and the second set of stairs he quickly looked over and saw her bag in her left and didn't give his hand I wonder then if he thought oopsy no touching the royals🤣🤣🤣 love Tom for that
It was a lovely gesture and a very gentlemanly thing to do. William and Katherine are so well drilled in royal protocol so anything out of the ordinary must surprise them. I think it was such a lovely red carpet visit.
I think her initial reaction wasn’t that he broke protocol. It was that she was using that hand to lift her dress up so she wouldn’t trip on it and she had to let go to take his hand. You can then see that she has to take very high steps to ensure she doesn’t step on her dress. He was being a gentlemen but almost fouled her up. I don’t like his association with Scientology but we need more men like that so kudos to Tom.
I was brought up in the 50s and 60s and had a lot of dogma pushed down my throat. That Dogma no longer exist in me I don't care what people do as long as they don't hurt other people; to each their own. That entails race, religion, and sexuality. The quote dr. Seuss " be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind "
It was an adorable gesture and Catherine handled it like a Queen; as did William like a King. My first impression was the respect and joy I noticed coming from Tom. xx
I think he was just being a gentleman, doesn't hurt anyone, shouldn't insult anyone and helped a lady - chivalry, sadly is a dying art so nice to see in this day and age!
Tom Cruise has always been known to have excellent manners, to be kind, to be a gentleman. And he looks like he's aging naturally (and well), too. Well done.
Tom Cruise is a very great gentleman. The excitement he was showing was real. Then the gentleman came out on him to take her hand. Catherine was surprised cuz she's not used to that. To me it showed me class and respect. My opinion course I can't analyze people's body language. But in reality somebody's always going to complain. Well done Tom Cruise well done.
I don't like Tom Cruise, but I like that he seems to be an absolute Gentleman and this is what happened here. It's nice to see that such behaviour is still out there
Tom Cruise showed spontaneous good manners - at that moment he saw the Duchess not primarily as a royal, but as a woman in a long dress and heels, about to negotiate stairs. He did what came naturally to any gentleman, and offered her his hand. If it had been in any way inappropriate or disrespectful, her husband Prince William would have reacted. He was clearly cool with it! In response Catherine also showed good manners, and accepted the offered hand. To have refused it and rejected Tom Cruise's help may have embarrassed or offended him - and as anyone who really understands etiquette knows, the essence of good manners is to behave in a way that makes other people feel good! That is the primary reason manners and etiquette exist - it's not about using the right cutlery or knowing how to correctly address a titled person! It's about choosing the conduct that makes your companion(s) feel most comfortable. That's why good manners in EVERY social situation be it casual or formal, with strangers or close family, are so important. Good manners smooth the wheels of human interaction, they are kind, and they are what marks humans apart from other animals! Let's face it, the Duchess held Tom Cruise's hand for 2 seconds tops, it was a fleeting moment. But because the two people involved are global megastars and the world's media were watching, it will be the front page photo on every newspaper tomorrow, and a famous image forevermore! To quote Shakespeare, another British icon, it was 'Much Ado About Nothing'!
Kate is perfectly accustomed now to walk up and down stairs in dresses and high heels without help, but she must have been surprised by Tom's act of spontaneous chivalry. So yeah I think even if it shouldn't have happened, Tom didn't mean any harm by it, and Kate reacted politely by accepting his hand. The Cambridge's are brilliantly professional though, including in such odd and surprising situations like that.
I used to run heavy equipment, large stuff. I remember years ago I had to get a man to help me replace a large heavy component and he showed me how I could do it myself with ropes and so on. Then when we were done he offered a hand to help me down. Now that was very gentlemanly. I am NOT a feminist but I do think work should be gender neutral, but it is nice when men show their manners.
This is EXACTLY how I felt when I saw it Jesús. It was a gentlemanly natural gesture. I said as much on another channel and got slammed by trolls. 🤷🏻♀️. 🇮🇳🇮🇳
She didn’t seem that upset. Plus she held Tom’s hand until the top step. She probably was a bit taken back but, they are not going to embarrass Tom. They are all very polite.
Exactly
It was only two steps until she could withdraw her hand. May not have been protocol but they don’t make a scene.
@@orangewedges So wrong, this was not rehearsed. He realised it would be good publicity for him.

Whether I like Tom Cruise or not is of no consequence, I believe he was simply showing good manners.
I completely agree with you 💯
This was a non event and I don’t know why anyone is making a big deal out if it.. and I can’t stand CRUISE.. This is just becoming ridiculous picking on absolutely EVERYTHING.. If it was the Queen it would be a different story but Kate is amazing and it’s NO BIG DEAL..
Right, you have to admit he does take great care at his public image, and would never allow himself to appear inappropriate.
Any acts of kindness anywhere is now taken as bad. Really don't know why just makes people wary of helping in the first place . Maybe the husband should be pleased that he was stopping her from tripping in the first place
Making big deal out of nothing hexwas being polite- no ptoblem there
She said “oh thank you” he did it very respectfully and dropped her hand immediately after she was up those steps.

Love Tom Cruise 😊
I agree. Completely honest gentleman's gesture. He was a step above, her right hand was carrying her purse and he saw that and offered a hand.
Yeah, that, what I thought.
I agree. Also, it’s old school American chivalry. Totally 💯 ok and hawt actually. A very nice compliment.
Excellent explanation. Agree with you Edie.
Edie.....perfectly explained, and very kindly too.
That's what I got as well. He was just trying to be a gentleman, and yet she made sure she wouldn't have to take his hand again.

I agree.
In all interviews I have seen, he has behaved with respect towards both men and women.
If Catherine had declined to take Tom's hand he would have looked like an idiot so she took his hand graciously.
Right. It would have made more out of the situation than needed.

Sorry but wrong!! She was aware and so was William, all part of PR, everyone here was talking about it and British royal reporters said it was staged
"Well trained" ha sounds like she's an animal
I don’t believe it was. I think Tom, in the moment, fell back into his movie star escort role where he helps the ladies in the high heels on the red carpet. Anyway, no harm done, nobody died. If it was the Queen (nobody touches the Queen!) I believe she would have reacted the same way with grace and dignity. The Montecito one however would have jumped up and down, gurned, and run and hugged him wearing an emerald tiara. So no harm done eh?
If only Americans were quick to understand others' customs. And it isn't as if Cruise would not have been briefed on protocol with the royals prior to this.
I don't think it was staged and Catherine did the right thing by not causing a scene and by being graceful and tactful didn't embarrass Tom Cruise.
Catherine had never looked more beautiful or more confident. Although Tom’s gentlemanly gesture was a surprise, Catherine handled it with grace and aplomb. Catherine is a great example to us all.

Indeed, He did!

The royal protocol doesn`t allow the royals to touch each other in public. That`s why her husband didnt help her.
This elegant, gentlemanly gesture makes me like Tom Cruise very much. Authentic and generous. And Kate was so graceful. It seems appropriate here at a red carpet event.
Tom treated Catherine with respect. He admires her Charm & Grace. A LADY. It was a lovely gesture. Give Tom an honoury Title.. An honoury Brit. 🇬🇧❤️
Her Highness heard me putting this guy in his place and came to talk to me, and was joking that controlling the media was like trying to keep Kittens in a box, so we joked a little and she offered to send me a cattle prod or bullwhip... lol
A little further into the visit she came to stand by me during an exhibit of “murder ball”. It’s similar to rugby but the players are in wheelchairs and they are INSANE... during the match she spoke with me and we cringed together at some of the dangerous tackles these players engaged in. She pointed out they seemed fearless and I replied something about “I guess they don’t really fear injury, because very little could injure them anymore”
But it definitely seemed like the protocol police were by FAR more uptight than the Princess Royal, she was just enjoying her day, especially as it’s a charity very close to her heart.

Lady Colin Campbell says when wearing a long gown women prefer not to have someone hold their hand so they can handle their gown, I totally agree with her. Sometimes you need your hands to lift your dress so you don't trip, which is why Prince William would not have offered his hand.
Tom was a real gentleman and William and Catherine we’re spot on classy 💕👏👏👏👏👏👏
It was a pleasant gesture from Tom Cruise and Catherine responded politely. Responding with a refusal would attract more attention and negative comments . She was gracious and knew how to act and everything was wonderful and natural.
At least she did not smack his hand away like Meghan did at her wedding getting out of the car.
@@plainspeaking6297 Omg, yes! That poor old boy just trying to be helpful.
I agree. Tom Cruise was just being a gentleman when he extended his hand to Catherine.
I think Tom's gesture was spontaneous, Catherine took a second to decide how best to respond and William looked slightly amused.
I'm sure William gave her some kidding later about it.

PW: Tower of London or should I just Knight him?
DC: Meh… I handled it 👑
PW: Brilliant!
Thank you Jesus 👌 I like your take on this to shut all the ones that thought differently. 👌👌👏👏
Such huge respect for this genuine act of chivalry in a world full of animals.
She really has great charisma that is very attractive to everyone she meets.
agree gentle act and handled ...good PW assured his wife....maybe next time he will assist his wife ...and it was handled with poise
Rubbish!! She is no wallflower it HAD been rearranged!!!
She is the epitome of grace and beauty. I think Tom Cruise was just being a gentleman without thinking of protocol.
I Agree Totally …Good Catch 👏👏👏
I’m not a Tom fan.. but he really seemed like he was just being a gentleman and showed her respect.
Some of us really love Tom as an actor, because we all grew up with him! But the scientology I could do without!
@RN Why? He's not that evil!
@RN But what does that have to do with Tom?
I agree with your assessment. This wasn’t planned and Tom was just being a gentleman.
He pulled back afterwards and followed proper protocol.
Your fashion sense is impeccable. 😉
I’m not a cruise fan but what he did was pure gentleman’s behavior. My question is why Will didn’t do it automatically for his wife.
Probably just because Tom knew the stairs were there and kind of hard to see.
Because the royal protocol doesn`t allow Will to touch her wife in public.
First time I watched one of your videos and you’re gooooooood. Spot on, authentic and great observation.
Thank you again for your brilliant analysis! As someone commented before me! The Royal family will take it in their stride! I'm sure with many different cultures from around the world! That very polite gesture from Tom cruise! Was nothing more! Than they have experienced many times!
It’s ashame. He was being gentleman to be polite!
Agreed, Collette!
Right. It's a common practice to help a lady up the stairs especially if she is wearing a body hugging sort of dress like that.
Tom is a true gentleman, there is nothing but class and kindness being shown here. If anything he was being extra polite and attentive.
Nobody has mentioned that Tom grew up in a household of women, he's got a lot of sisters. He grew up learning about manners, I promise you, lol!
And yes, Catherine looks like a movie star!
Those who born with lot of siblings will end up having affair with lot women 🤣🤣
Ohhhh Jes’us you have the Best sarcasm !! I laughed so hard I had to backup your video to see the rest. ♥️♥️🌈🌈🙏🇨🇦🇬🇧
He would see it ad the gentlemanly thing to do
How ‘gentlemanly’ has he been to his wives???
@@smithface8791: Re your comment: "How 'gentlemanly' has he (TC) been to his wives???" 🎯 EXACTLY!! Anyone who is even slightly aware of the man's personality behind the pearly tooth smile & jumping on sofas knows what he is capable of.
He was being a gentleman, and she accepted his gesture like a lady.
Yeah but she’s a future Queen, only her husband should hold her hand unless she tripped.
It’s so nice to see there are still gentlemen and gracious ladies.
And you even see Tom recognized her silent gesture by switching her clutch into the hand to the side he's on, he instantly knew that she wanted him to not offer his hand in a respectful silent way.
And I have to say, the gesture from William to Catherine is so beautiful, his hand around her waist. Him saying "it's all okay hun" and so her mesmerizing smile came right back 🥺❤️
And Tom Cruise, besides all the things we know about him, he is simply a gentleman here, you can even see him trying to hide his excitement, like a little boy 😁
Ask his wives!
@@smithface8791 why should I 🤔
@@smithface8791 Oh dear, grow up.
I agree and the second set of stairs he quickly looked over and saw her bag in her left and didn't give his hand I wonder then if he thought oopsy no touching the royals🤣🤣🤣 love Tom for that
Katherine is so lovely. She didn’t make a drama about the break in protocol but smoothly transitioned into avoiding it again.
Agreed. Yes broke protocol, but very respectful and polite. TC has a thumbs up from me.
Exactly!
Well done.
I think you have it spot on as usual Jesus.
"Yeah, that hand was Williams, I double checked".
😂 You are hilarious!
Tom was being a gentleman, a natural gesture by offering a quick hand up the step, she clearly said, ok thank you.
It was lovely.
A very polished performance from Tom Cruise. Elegant. Gentlemannly.
So lovely to see this act of kindness and courtesy, how could there possibly be any criticism towards it, rather watch and learn!!!
I don’t like Mr. cruise but I found nothing wrong with his manners here. Good video, Jesus.
A very spontaneous gesture and one which was handled with grace by the Cambridges.
I think PW was chuckling. He knew how K would react.
They were just plain jealous, as I am, who wouldn't have wanted to be in Catherine's shoes and have two men at their side??
I’m an idiot when I first read your comment I thought you said
“This is exactly how I felt when I first saw Jesus”🙈😂
@@5telaine 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I guess I should have put the appropriate punctuation. 😂😂😂
@@5telaine same haha
I loved that Tom did that, it was a genuine gentlemanly gesture even though it breached protocol x
Excellent Analysis. Very interesting is Body language Study and Analysis.
William wasnt fiddling with his tie. He was telling the snipers to hold. 🤣
