Was quoted a $2200 repair price, not covered under warranty, to replace the whole headlight assembly. You guys just saved me a headache and a crap ton of money. Thank you so much.

I managed to replace the passenger side ballast without taking off the bumper by accessing it though the wheel well. It was a tight squeeze, I think the forward radar was right under it. Thanks for the video, kept me from spending hundreds at the dealer!
Thanks for the video... saved me over $2000. Dealerships wanted to charge me $2100 for what amounted to a $35 part. To be honest, the bad ballast was due to a poor design from the manufacturer. It was caused by water getting into the housing and running down and shorting out the ballast. Thanks for the great video.

I found water in the old ballast. How does water get in? I checked it for cracks, but it is perfect. What do you recommend, because it still has moisture in the pensé.
Erick Cerda i will recommend to apply a thin layer of silicone all around the ballast and around the socket that goes into the ballast, for some reason some headlights come with this defect from factory so water can get inside , u can apply silicone all around the headlight too, an dry it with a hair dryer..

what if just forget the old ballast and leave it there and plug a new ballast and secure it somewhere in the back of the headlight?....that would work?
You will have to seal the new ballast as the connector will be exposed and also you would have to cut the headlight cover in order to the igniter cable get into the bulb or leave it out which creates more chances to get water in.

the 15 amp fuse keeps blowing in the driver headlight.....instantly whe I turn on the lights.....it coul be the ballast????
Not just the ballast , probably you have water in the ballast and connections . 95% of these cars that I took in for ballast have water issues there so I advice to replace ballast and igniter too. Also seal the headlight once is out to avoid yhe water to come in.
I never have to replace one , but most likely u will need to remove the bottom dust cover, in order to disconnect it, but if ij the process u see that u need to remove the headlight in order to get it, yes bumper has to come off
If you have small arms and hand You can remove the 2 screw by small 1/4 wrench with p2 tip when you looking down from the hood you can see this 2 screw The last screw you can’t see it in front of the ballast so you need to remove the fog lights then get your arm through that hole you can touch that screw just use p2 screwdriver to remove it When you install the new one use 3 new hexa head screw so it’s easy to turn later the screw is number 8 by 5/8 long
Hi, there is just one bulb for high and low beams, there is a flap in the headlight that open and close the light output, well if u have moisturize inside the headlight it wilk happen again, so you need to reseal the headlight just put clear silicone around all the edges and on the top of the ballast where the plug gets in

I have a 2013 JX35 - nice car, but not cheap to maintain. I am looking for OEM rims, because the ones I have seem to have started chipping. I bought it used, so maybe they had been repainted already.
Erick Cerda yes thats right infiniti is not cheap to maintain, just do preventive maintanance , like serpentine belt btw 50-60, cabin air filter every 12k

@@crnchn7625 hello, you need to clean and dry all around the headlight where the lens join with the housing and apply clear waterproof silicone sealant, 3m or loclite also the one used in fish tanks are good. Dialectic grease only protects the terminals or metal parts to get corroded by the water if they get in contact with it , it wont work to seal the lens.
Swap bulb on the working side , if bulb turns on is either the ballast or igniter or both, then try the good one on the bad side and see if light up if not you confirm ballast/igniter not working. i always recomend to replace both so you wont have to do the job twice.
The problem is the heat from the engine blows at the headlight and gets moisture in the lens which causes the balace to shut down due to moisture landing on it
@geovp1984 in some cases yes but not this one even the bumper gets hot on this side only that's hiw I figured out this issue I got 2 headlights and they both do the same due to the heat
@erikgonzalez5787 if you say so, i repaired and sealed 30+ of this no one has come back with the issue. Engine bays are hotter than an oven even worst in summer days.

Ballast cost $45, plus u need something that fits inside the housing , u can not leave these headlights open without the cover or they will be ruin by the water.
Erick Cerda u have until 70k to get the extended warranty, if u are going to keep the car i will recommend you to get it, suspension and steering parts are super expensive.

Erick Cerda mine also got water and burnt. Why do they leak?! Must be a manufacturing issue.

Replace the other side, new bulbs are always gonna be brighter than the old one and if you dont get same brand even a different color

Its the seal around the lenses , once you open and reseal them the issue is gone forever.

If it breaks again, due to water, it will be considered a manufacturer's defect and I will take it to the dealer.
Erick Cerda if u get water inside the headlights, and u are under the warranty they will replace it for free but if u are over 60k miles is on u
You did not have to do all that just remove fender liner and replace 10 min job
For under $200 you could have bought the LED Conversion kit.
Ballast cost $45, plus u need something that fits inside the housing , u can not leave these headlights open without the cover or they will be ruin by the water.
