This is a complete departure from how my videos normally are, so tell me how y'all like it! I might make more like these in the future, this was really fun to make.
Overall a good video but as the others said the BG music was a bit too loud, but instead of just muting it, if you wanted the ending segment to hit harder, maybe only have the music start during the final minute or so when things get existential, or if you want music throughout the video (for that sweet retention) start it at a barely audible level the have it gradually build up as you get further along the video (Make sure the build matches the pacing of the video and isn't just a flat increase throughout). One other note is your microphone sounds like it's sensitivity got turned a little too high up as it's catching a lot of mouth noise. There're a lot of easy fixes for this ranging from automatic declicker/essers that most audio editing software has to the low tech solution of putting a large sock on your microphone (make sure it's not too tight or else you can damage the mic). Other than that keep up the great work!
Yeah, the Minecraft music in the background wasn't a great call. Music is fine, but it needs to be at least half the volume of the speech, and fitting the tone of the content. If any peak in the music volume is higher than the lowest peak in the vocal track, especially on a video which is delivering all its information through the vocal track, then the gain's too high on the music track.
I like it, it make them distinct. With physical attacker you have burn and intimidate, but their is a lot of way to punch true physical wall. Special attacker have to deal with thing like snorlax, Chansey/Blissey and other special wall.
It's so funny cause I don't think anything like Chansey and Blissey would ever be designed in this current day and age of Pokemon. They're both an experimental “what if we could” relic of Generation 1 and 2's Pokemon designs in terms of balancing and concept
Nowadays, whenever something comes even close to having Chansey/Blissey's HP, they either give it sub-80 defenses or keep reliable recovery at least 10 km away from it minimum. The craziest thing to me is Dondozo coming in with 60% of their base HP and barely more Defense than Chansey's Sp. Def and it is still taking names with RestTalk sets.
This is why I'm a fan of Zygarde-Complete. It's not quite as naturally bulky as they are, but a decent Def stat and the excellent Dragon/Ground typing make up for that, and stab Thousand Arrows off a solid Atk stat for their bulk makes them work as an incredible tank.

What do you mean? They made scream tail in this gen. Continuing the legacy of unkillable pink blob Pokémon. Also the slows got regional variants. Mega Audino was a thing (it was trash but it’s clear what they were going for). “Pink blob never drop” is an ongoing design trend in Pokémon.

God you never know how frustrating it is losing a tournament (not official) to just having 2 special attackers left and your opponent reveals the 🌟BLISSEY🌟 and just makes the universe explode by stalling the battle
Normally, baby pokemon are seen as useless additions, but Hapinny's existance has kept us safe from the posibility of an eviolite blissey, and i appreciate that from the big lad at Gamefreak that did it
Blissey rising in popularity based on how powerful special attackers are is always so cool, like a symptom of a metagames overall health just like how ditto rises in usage when set-up sweepers pop up. Great video!
my favourite recent Blissey story is when the teal mask dlc came out, Blissey instantly shot from RU straight to OU to save the tier from blood moon ursaluna until it was banished to ubers. Blissey, satisfied with a job well done allowed itself to then drift back down to RU knowing that if OU ever came under threat again it'd be there to rescue the tier. Thank you Blissey, I love you.

everytime I watch a video where someone claims that a mon "is not replaceable" or "can't be powercrept" a few months later exactly that is going to happen. Looking at you Manaphy, Ttar and Rotom-W. I sincerly hope that next gen is going to be more pleasant

Ever since I started playing competitive in gen8 I always enjoyed running this two. They get a bad rep because they're great on stall, but they also help hold together slow balanced teams. Blissey in gen3 for example is an actually healthy and good part of the meta

Now if only Happiny could reach their level. In most monster collectors and JRPGs, Tank role monsters are balanced by their bulk by being slow, having unimpressive offenses and inability to heal themselves. Healer roles are usually balanced by their longevity by having lackluster offenses and average to bad bulk. Chansey and Blissey have good bulk and decent offenses ESPECIALLY in a game like Pokemon where bad HP stats are a norm compared to other games. Of course they are good.
I’m not entirely sure if I agree. Should special attackers ever become obsolete or at least noticeably inferior to physical ones, Chansey and Blissey will free-fall down the tiers. On the other hand, I doubt this would happen anytime soon. Look at contact moves! Most of the effects regarding them are negative (Flame Body/Static/etc, Iron Barbs/Rough Skin/Rocky Helmet and more) and almost all of them are physical; the only special ones I can think of are Grass Knot and Draining Kiss. On the other hand, a predominantly special subcategory like “sound-based” has the incredibly useful effect of bypassing substitutes. Looking at the moves themselves, powerful physical moves typically have drawbacks like recoil, lowering the user’s stats and/or poor accuracy whereas powerful special ones typically have poor accuracy and also a positive effect. But… what if all of this changes? What if, by the time Gen 24 rolls around, 145 Attack is considered mediocre? I guess we’ll never know.
You're proposing a scenario that literally will not and cannot happen. How would "all special attackers are obsolete" happen? Why even entertain the though of it? We already have several "always relevant" special attackers that will never go away. (hi kyogre!)

They can for sure wane in popularity, within certain metas and tiers; but EVERY special attacker being obsolete cannot. Same as how the pink blobs can wane in popularity based on meta threats, but they're never truly "gone".
You would be surprised how many people use pokemon themes in their videos as background music for videos that have nothing to do with pokemon. It is nice to hear one of minecraft’s best tracks as background music in a video about pokemon:)
I’d say Gargnacl counts for the current gen. Tera off of a rock type and then it can just tank about anything. Iron defense, body press, protect, recover, good physical bulk, these all make it great. But what makes it broken is its ability and signature move, Purifying Salt and Salt Cure. Its ability makes it immune to status, meaning you can’t toxic/burn/paralyze/sleep/freeze it (plus make it take half damage from ghosts why not). And then its signature move of salt cure, doing 1/8th of the enemies health every turn, and 1/4th if they are steel or water, the two best defensive types in the game. Even more baffling, its special bulk isn’t atrocious like the pink blobs’ physical bulks are, meaning you could run a mixed defensive set or go full physical bulk. Plus, to top it all off, it has DK in its design. Most underrated pokemon of Gen 9 hands down

Don’t worry, avalugg’s got you covered! Wait… To be fair, mega aggron is also really fun to use (may it rest in peace). Chomping through resisted hits with a non-stab body press after one iron defense in natdex is amazing
Blissey is one of those pokemons that really depend on the metagame, but are generally stronger in Uber than in OU, because the legendaries there are usually special attackers compared to OU that finds way more physical and agressive mons. The biggest loss in gen 9 was the loss of Toxic, which used to let her pretty much debilitate whole teams, but she's still a great pokemon that will always rise to action to stop special attackers. I'd also add that her typing is great for a special defensive wall, due to the fact that very few Fighting attacks are special, the only coverage that can hit her super effectively are Aura Sphere (limited to a few pokemons), secret sword (also limited) and Focus Blast, which is famously inconsistent
It should be mentioned that Blissey has a very high exp yields, creating the best grinding method in gen 6, the Blissey bases. Secret Bases filled with Blisseys with no attacking moves free for the killing.
I used one of these in Legends: Arceus. It managed to reduce the final boss to resorting to struggle before it died to its own recoil. My Blissey was unfazed.
I like the concept but as a devout Chansey enjoyer I feel like some things were missing like a dedicated gen 9 slide would be nice. Since Chansey has massively fallen off. My beloved has seen the depths of NU this gen. But I suppose talking about how movepool changes hit the overly passive mons such as chansey is a different vid.

I remember in a Randbat, I was left with just Chansey against the opponents 2-3 pokemon, convinced that I'd lost. This thing proceeded to Seismic Toss the entire group into orbit because literally nothing could hit it hard enough. These guys are monsters; I have nothing but respect for them.
This I why I love this Pokémon nothing is more satisfying then switching this thing in to the opponents strongest special attacker and taking 20% Now gen 9 please give them back toxic
I still can't believe that, after making it wall every special attacker and blessing it with every support move in existence, GameFreak decided that Blissey ALSO needed Natural Cure on top of it - making it impossible to kill with both Status effects and Special attacks. Oh and then this freak of nature got Stealth Rock too, the most meta-defining move in gen 4.
I dunno. Before gen 9 I would agree with you on the eternal longevity of Chancy and Blissey, but seeing Ghouldengo and Garganacl get crazy defensive abilities and the boost so many Pokémon got from defensive Tera-typing, I’m not so confident gamefreak won’t make a Pokémon that outclasses Chancy/Blissey, or that a generational gimmick won’t invalidate them somehow.
If frostbite ever replaces freeze, I could see more moves like psyshock or thunder cage getting added. Hell, we could even get more moves like eerie spell. The biggest reason these two stay OP is that special attacks lack utility in exchange for having less counter-play than physical attacks.

If HP stood for the will to keep going and Sp. Def the sheer mental fortitude it takes to do so, then these two are the single most anti-fight Pokémon in existence. They're like the lovable people in your life: Unless you're willing to inflict physical harm on them (which you likely won't), they will keep compelling you to lay down your arms and keep the peace. They will stall out your will to fight until you eventually give in. Even Chansey demonstrated this by being one of if not the single most difficult Pokémon to catch before it was let out into the wild. "I shan't join in your reign of terror. If you are so convinced, then continue trying to catch me." It's like an Undertale Genocide Run. Conviction's tested to hell and you almost feel bad for it.

Blissey hard carried me in my playthrough of Legends Arceus so I have a special place in my heart for the pink blob girls (though it’s weird that Chansey got an evolution, it would be like Snorlax or Tauros having an evolution)
I have to imagine during Gen 5 Gamefreak didn't want to accidentally make Audino into a beast like it's original so instead they went with the "useful for double battles" niche
Chansey (and thus Blissey) feels like it was a glitch Pokémon Game freak decided to allow. What I mean by that is Missingno and various other glitch mons happened to have 1 or 2 ridiculously high stats far beyond anything ever seen and several other ridiculously low stats (sometimes 0 even). Chansey feels more in line with them than most other mons.

I've always thought that special attackers are balanced differently from physical attackers, where special attackers have special walls to deal with them like Chansey and Blissey, physical attackers don't have that due to their moves having high base power in combination to the most physically bulky mons normally possessing the steel or rock typing. They will probably never be powercrept as a special wall because of how special attackers are balanced, we probably won't get a special attacker who is balanced like a physical attacker because the ones that are, get banned because they tear the meta to shreds OUTSIDE of these two. the metagame cant really handle special attackers of that caliber because there's no external way to lower Special Attack like there is with Physical Attack.

I’m not entirely sure if I agree. Should special attackers ever become obsolete or at least noticeably inferior to physical ones, Chansey and Blissey will free-fall down the tiers. On the other hand, I doubt this would happen anytime soon. Look at contact moves! Most of the effects regarding them are negative (Flame Body/Static/etc, Iron Barbs/Rough Skin/Rocky Helmet and more) and almost all of them are physical; the only special ones I can think of are Grass Knot and Draining Kiss. On the other hand, a predominantly special subcategory like “sound-based” has the incredibly useful effect of bypassing substitutes. Looking at the moves themselves, powerful physical moves typically have drawbacks like recoil, lowering the user’s stats and/or poor accuracy whereas powerful special ones typically have poor accuracy and also a positive effect.
But… what if all of this changes? What if, by the time Gen 24 rolls around, 145 Attack is considered mediocre? I guess we’ll never know.

They can for sure wane in popularity, within certain metas and tiers; but EVERY special attacker being obsolete cannot.
Same as how the pink blobs can wane in popularity based on meta threats, but they're never truly "gone".

There's a world where the special stat was never split in two and Blissey has a special attack of 135. It could have been so, so much worse.

You would be surprised how many people use pokemon themes in their videos as background music for videos that have nothing to do with pokemon. It is nice to hear one of minecraft’s best tracks as background music in a video about pokemon:)
I wonder if we’ll ever get a Physical equivalent of Chansey and Blissey.
I’d say Gargnacl counts for the current gen. Tera off of a rock type and then it can just tank about anything. Iron defense, body press, protect, recover, good physical bulk, these all make it great. But what makes it broken is its ability and signature move, Purifying Salt and Salt Cure. Its ability makes it immune to status, meaning you can’t toxic/burn/paralyze/sleep/freeze it (plus make it take half damage from ghosts why not). And then its signature move of salt cure, doing 1/8th of the enemies health every turn, and 1/4th if they are steel or water, the two best defensive types in the game.
Even more baffling, its special bulk isn’t atrocious like the pink blobs’ physical bulks are, meaning you could run a mixed defensive set or go full physical bulk.
Plus, to top it all off, it has DK in its design. Most underrated pokemon of Gen 9 hands down

To be fair, mega aggron is also really fun to use (may it rest in peace). Chomping through resisted hits with a non-stab body press after one iron defense in natdex is amazing

Blissey is one of those pokemons that really depend on the metagame, but are generally stronger in Uber than in OU, because the legendaries there are usually special attackers compared to OU that finds way more physical and agressive mons.
The biggest loss in gen 9 was the loss of Toxic, which used to let her pretty much debilitate whole teams, but she's still a great pokemon that will always rise to action to stop special attackers.
I'd also add that her typing is great for a special defensive wall, due to the fact that very few Fighting attacks are special, the only coverage that can hit her super effectively are Aura Sphere (limited to a few pokemons), secret sword (also limited) and Focus Blast, which is famously inconsistent
It should be mentioned that Blissey has a very high exp yields, creating the best grinding method in gen 6, the Blissey bases. Secret Bases filled with Blisseys with no attacking moves free for the killing.

I used one of these in Legends: Arceus. It managed to reduce the final boss to resorting to struggle before it died to its own recoil. My Blissey was unfazed.
I like the concept but as a devout Chansey enjoyer I feel like some things were missing like a dedicated gen 9 slide would be nice. Since Chansey has massively fallen off. My beloved has seen the depths of NU this gen. But I suppose talking about how movepool changes hit the overly passive mons such as chansey is a different vid.

I remember in a Randbat, I was left with just Chansey against the opponents 2-3 pokemon, convinced that I'd lost. This thing proceeded to Seismic Toss the entire group into orbit because literally nothing could hit it hard enough. These guys are monsters; I have nothing but respect for them.

Trying to run chansey in a game is a challenge too, as the teams are often irrational with so many mixed physical/special attackers in the NPCs sets

I still can't believe that, after making it wall every special attacker and blessing it with every support move in existence, GameFreak decided that Blissey ALSO needed Natural Cure on top of it - making it impossible to kill with both Status effects and Special attacks.
Oh and then this freak of nature got Stealth Rock too, the most meta-defining move in gen 4.
I dunno. Before gen 9 I would agree with you on the eternal longevity of Chancy and Blissey, but seeing Ghouldengo and Garganacl get crazy defensive abilities and the boost so many Pokémon got from defensive Tera-typing, I’m not so confident gamefreak won’t make a Pokémon that outclasses Chancy/Blissey, or that a generational gimmick won’t invalidate them somehow.
If frostbite ever replaces freeze, I could see more moves like psyshock or thunder cage getting added. Hell, we could even get more moves like eerie spell. The biggest reason these two stay OP is that special attacks lack utility in exchange for having less counter-play than physical attacks.

If HP stood for the will to keep going and Sp. Def the sheer mental fortitude it takes to do so, then these two are the single most anti-fight Pokémon in existence.
They're like the lovable people in your life: Unless you're willing to inflict physical harm on them (which you likely won't), they will keep compelling you to lay down your arms and keep the peace. They will stall out your will to fight until you eventually give in.
Even Chansey demonstrated this by being one of if not the single most difficult Pokémon to catch before it was let out into the wild.

Blissey hard carried me in my playthrough of Legends Arceus so I have a special place in my heart for the pink blob girls (though it’s weird that Chansey got an evolution, it would be like Snorlax or Tauros having an evolution)

Chansey (and thus Blissey) feels like it was a glitch Pokémon Game freak decided to allow. What I mean by that is Missingno and various other glitch mons happened to have 1 or 2 ridiculously high stats far beyond anything ever seen and several other ridiculously low stats (sometimes 0 even). Chansey feels more in line with them than most other mons.
Even when its struggels in gen 5 blissey is still ranked OUT while chansey in UUBL

I've always thought that special attackers are balanced differently from physical attackers, where special attackers have special walls to deal with them like Chansey and Blissey, physical attackers don't have that due to their moves having high base power in combination to the most physically bulky mons normally possessing the steel or rock typing.
They will probably never be powercrept as a special wall because of how special attackers are balanced, we probably won't get a special attacker who is balanced like a physical attacker because the ones that are, get banned because they tear the meta to shreds OUTSIDE of these two. the metagame cant really handle special attackers of that caliber because there's no external way to lower Special Attack like there is with Physical Attack.
