Thanks Mike. Hope you don't wait three more years for another video. This was the most concise explanation of kumiko I have seen. Going for it soon. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for this video. I've been interested in kumiko and shoji for a while. You simplified what i needed and how i could make it. i really appreciate that.
Still enjoying The Why & How of Woodworking book - can’t wait for the next book. Found this to be extremely helpful with Kumiko and all around woodworking.
Thanks Mike. I just finished making my blocks. Today I'll prepare my stock and hopefully get started in the next day or so. Your video (and Matt Kinney's book) is exactly what I needed to get started.
I would like to know the dimensions of the blocks to get started. I also ordered Matt Kinney's book and also Michael Pekovich's Foundations of Woodworking but they weren't delivered yet. Are the dimensions listed in Matt's book?
Thanks Mike great how to video. Dug out the blocks I got from you earlier in the year and lots of time right now to put them to use. Stay well and wash your hands (again)
I have a set Narex Richter chisels I like from 1/8 to 1.5". I bought them of the Narex site and for the rating they get the price point is fair and right out of the box they are very sharp and cut well. I suggest you see the chisels reviewed and rated. You can buy the separate if you want. The 1/8" and 1.5" will do if you do not plan to use they others. Note: I am not paid and I purchased them myself. Well My wife bought 3 of them for Christmas.
Congratulations for the explanation and for the excellent work, I am very tempted to do something close to what you did, could you give me some information about the cutting blocks, dimensions and also the sticks used, it seems to be 8x2 mm, it would help a lot to get started if you make a lot of mistakes. Hugs from Brazil
I think I need your video on chisel sharpening!-haha Do you have links to the blocks? Kumiko strip thickness?-Same thickness as a saw blade...less some tolerance ....Great video: clear concise...and MOTIVATING! (subscribed)
Hey Mike, what size and style of chisel do you prefer? If I had to guess I'd say its a litte over an inch, something like the Japanese Bevel-Edge Chisels Lee Valley offers (60S06.36). Just about finished with my current project and wanted to experiment with some kumiko and carving next! Awesome video :)
Hi. This is a very interesting video. What is the width and thickness of the sticks? How do you use a thickness planer to make them all uniform in size? Thanks
that little "hold-down" tool/jig/gadget is a great idea!
Great explanation and tutorial , Thank you for shearing
Thank you for showing those of us that prefer not to have every power tool on the market how this simple but precise tool can be adequately made.
Thanks Mike. Hope you don't wait three more years for another video. This was the most concise explanation of kumiko I have seen. Going for it soon. Thanks again.
i have found this to be the most comprehensive tutorial to help get started.
thank you very much

Hey Mike, where does one purchase the jig kit you discussed in this video? I don't see a link in your video.
Spec-tac-u-lar! My highest compliment.

Awesome, now show us how to make the jig, and give minute measurement detail. Thank you.
Hi Mike! Would you consider showing other, more elaborate variants of kumiko as well? Good Video instruction on the topic is proving scarce.
Perfectamente bien explicado...
beautiful 😍
Hi Mike, I would like to purchase your Kumiko set. Please let me know when it becomes available. Thank you.

What type of wood do you find best for this?
Did you make the angle block guide or buy it? If you bought it where is it available?
What wood would you use for this?

Hello Mike, "thank you" for the video! What wood do you use to make Kimuko?
The japanese Kumiko is made with Akita Cedar.
Awesome Mike! You going to make a video on the triangle gridwork by any chance?
Good job
Thanks Mike
Where'd you get the hook from? I've done a search for kumiko hooks and can't find anything. I'm not in a position to make my own. Thanks

Lots of questions left unanswered, which is sad.
