Morlak reminds me of Vlad Master from Danny Phantom. No not comparing the basic apples and oranges of romantic feelings or anything. But the fact that he wasted all his time being bitter. And yes, given what he had been through I am not blaming him for being even a little angry. But to hear him saying IF HE MATTERED. That was as if saying all these late and long nights with Mimi were never enough of a reward. Mimi had to start over just like Morlak did. But even though she never got the thanks or the credit she wanted she found something better. She met her husband, had a wonderful son, and a brilliant granddaughter and got a healthy relationship of a family. Morlak is so stuck on what he wanted instead of finding what he needed. My mom always taught me: “Be grateful for what you have, not what you want in life.”
This plot was an interesting metaphor for how so many non-white and female scientists wrre treated. Their work was stolen or just outright deemed irrelevant
You have a point there about people of colour who have their work stolen. But I think it goes deeper than that. I did some research and it turns out there are other scientists who had their work stolen, even white and Asian people, men and women. I think it goes further than that, when some scientists do not make the invention first or cannot come up with any new ideas they end up stealing someone else's and taking the credit all to satisfy their ego because they were a part of the science community longer than anyone.
You know this kind of reminds me of King andrias when he was betrayed by leaf when she stole the calamity box and that led him never trust someone again
I don't blame the guy for being mad about being erased or forgotten. I would too if some one took credit for my work. Non white and female scientists or in any profession would agree. And have this guy seen Stranger Things?! Opening up portals to other realms lead to bodies and minds completely fucked! And those who where sent through the portal years ago might be long gone
I can understand where Maris is coming from but that doesn't excuse him for hurting Lunella, Devil and Mimi and for what? Those people that tried to take all the credit from them are gone! So there’s no need for any of this
At that point, I think he was doing it more for himself than anyone else. More than the dead assholes who erased him, he wanted it to be known in SOME way how good he was~
Yeah those people must have died by the claw or teeth of those things by now! It's been what 60 + years since that experiment went south and he would have a better life if he just let go
not to mention the enclave as a whole was equally responsible and he just made them his goons, he could have changed them or something in all this time but they are still the same cold merciless monsters they were in the past
So instead of building devices that would actually help people and get him recognized…. He decided to open a portal to some random dimension and unleash a monster army….
Morlak reminds me of Munson from Up. Only twice as tragic. Both great minds victimized by closed-mindedness, but Munson was only disgraced while Morlak was erased, reduced to a coffee maker by racists.
I can't even imagine the amount of stress and mental anguish a person would have to go through to go from a plucky young scientist wanting to change the world for the better to a cartoonish meglomaniac wanting to control it just for the satisfaction of of being treated like their work matters in any capacity by the world at large.
They actually worked for the Enclave, but I thought it was A.I.M as well given the design of their troopers and the bee logo, and A.I.M poses as a legitimate business to mask their tech terrorism and theft.
I wonder if the whole portal could be used to introduce aliens such as skrulls, annihilus, thanos or the kree....kid kree was a bit relevant in the moon girl comics at some point....also it would be interesting see Lunella face the supreme inteligence.

I didn’t get it at first but then it hit me that they erased of the project because of their race. If I had that happen to me just because my skin didn’t match with another (yeah I’m white, I know it could still happen this world is still screwed up), I’d be pissed off. Now I wouldn’t go psycho, but I would sue their asses for it and make their lives hell. Who cares what race you are? It’s the person’s character and who they are that matter. I don’t care what race someone is, if they’re being a twat I give them what they deserve
What I dislike is that Mimi doesn't see it from his point of view. This is all he has. He worked his entire life for that and it was all taken and then she destroyed it and ran. She can't understand hum because she got lucky and made a family, if he went out he'd probably live the rest of his life miserable, slowly dwindling away after what could have been.
She tried at first (at least that's the impression I got from the fact she did not focus on what Morkack did to their former boss when trying to talk him out of the project). But the man simply did not show any interest in making the machine safer, only how he could harness its power. Is that someone you would trust such a powerful project with ?
