I had a 1982 Ford Bronco with a Motorcraft/Autolite 2 barrel carb that looks real close to the carb Ole Sally got. I rebuilt the carb and it ran great for a lil bit. However, rust in the old tank came up through the fuel lines and got into the carb. The motor was a 302, freshly rebuilt. Also had a new ignition system on it with the timing dialed in great so it wasn't that. That one mistake of not putting a new fuel filter in cost me taking the carb back off and buying another new rebuild kit from the parts store. Those 2 barrel Ford carbs are simple to rebuild. There are several UA-cam videos on them and also Google images has the diagrams of them. Like yall's videos! Keep em coming!
Back in the Mid '90s, my family and I had a 1980 Ford F-150 Ranger Regular Cab Longbed with 4 Speed Manual Transmission. When we bought it, it had a two tone brown paint job and we eventually had the whole truck painted all white. I wish the truck was in good shape, but apparently it ended up being a big piece of crap. It was pretty beat up. The truck had no radio, no air conditioning, had broken hand crank windows and it would run like crap during cold weather. The truck was used as a work truck all it's life. However, the good news is that the truck had power steering, brakes and transmission that worked fine with no issues. I wish we were able to restore the truck and fix it up, but it ended up being scrapped. I'm going to be very honest here, I actually miss that truck. I know you people may think I'm crazy for missing a truck that was pretty beat up. Quite frankly, *I am crazy!* That's right, I'm crazy and I'm not afraid to admit it. As a big Dodge guy I am, there were some Fords that I like and that would this generation Ford truck. Make sure you take care of Ole Sally!
Change the spark plugs, get new plug wires, and get a new distribitor cap and look up the firing order for the cap so you can make sure the spark is thrown to the cylinder that needs to catch it. i did this to my 460 ford and now it runs like a top! wish you and ole sally luck!
Have u checked for a bad gasket. Or something causing truck to get to much air. Think about this: it run good when cold because all or most air is snuffed out. When the choke pulls off, then u have abundance of air. Vaccum leak. Intake to carb gasket. Just some ideas . Take the carb cleaner and spray around base .when cold. If u kill the truck by spraying it around. Then u find your problem.or if it revs higher. Like all your vids
