This chronicled banner basically replaces the need for triple, quadriple and beyond banners completely. The MAJOR problem is the fate point not staying over refreshes of the banner. Just remember to save around 160 fates before attempting to go for the thing you want. I'm thinking the chronicled banner will stay around for the whole version. (for example 4.5 part 1 and part 2) expect to see tighnari and dehya on the 4.6 chronicled.

For some reason people love fixating on things that don't really matter. This first banner is a bit worse due to the short notice and starting at 0 pity. When better characters appear and its not a fresh start to a new system, I'm sure people will come around. Also, consider this. If you have 120 pulls, you can afford to attempt getting the thing you want with just 30 of those wishes. If you get no 5 star, stop pulling. If you get the 5 star you picked, great. If you get a 5 star you didn't pick, you still have 90 more. You can continue wishing and have what you picked guaranteed. So, you can still build pity on this banner as long as you don't let yourself go below 90 reserved wishes.

While no Fate Point system is better than having one, two important notes. The first is that it’s a methodology inherited from the Weapon banners, particularly because the Weapon banner resets your FPs if you switch course. If the banner contents change, you have switched course. The other note is that the kind of pulling behavior that is best for the Chronicled Wish isn’t abnormal. When I wasn’t able to get Kazuha in 1.6, after 2.1, I started saving aggressively. I did still pull for stuff, but I always tried to stay within range of enough pulls required to fully guarantee Kazuha. This banner is for people who have been saving and waiting for a specific character and are ready to pull them.
@@ShevaAlpha2002it won’t because Nilou is popular. The only characters that won’t rerun often are ones that don’t make HoYo much money but people will still complain when they don’t get reruns. So this gives them a way to not have to rerun them but still rerunning them in a sense.
For me, more options for players are always welcome and this Banner will not only help prevent characters from going years without reruns but is also a way to guarantee characters from the Standart Banner who have never had a Banner. And having it as a second option to get 5 Star Weapons is a nice bonus and I appreciate that they added it.
I do think it’s more of a good thing than a bad thing. Older characters who aren’t as popular anymore but still have plenty of fans can be put on this banner in groups of 3, which leaves the 2 main limited banners free for the more popular and newer characters. This will really help to clean up the banner system while still allowing people to get their hands on members of the old guard. Personally, I still love Ganyu and still use her as one of my mains. The game has mostly moved on from her, but she’s still quite good. I’d hate it if new players were unable to get her just because the heyday of her popularity is over and there’s less money to be made from her banner.
as a relatively new player (started in 3.3) who only has two of the units on the upcoming Chronicle wish, and who WANTS the older units, this is a godsend because i can wish on it without blowing my pity for the limited banners! i don’t hear anyone discussing this- it’s another banner to save up pity on, so if you have your guarantee that you’re saving for your favorite unit, you can still pull for other units that you may want!
Just keep in mind that while pity count for the Chronicled Wish carries over, the guarantee is tied to the Fate Point and that won’t roll over. So you still gotta mind your primo stash.
That's a downside but I agree no one really talks about it. First it's bad because it means you have more pulls spent on pity without reaching a 5 star at any moment, as they are now split between two banners. Oh, you had 120 pulls on the character banner, and another 90 saved up, too bad that's not enough for the character you want because it's on the new banner where your pity is zero and you'd need 180. Second because it's unsafe to pull on the new banner unless you have 90 wishes remaining after you pull (as you'd risk losing your fate point if you can't continue pulling after a lost 50.) but also because building pity on a banner where there are no rate up 4 stars you want is meaningless anyway. If you don't have enough to get the 5 star you want, pulling on this banner is not just risky but also pointless because you aren't getting 4 stars you wanted in the process.
@@SeravySensei if you pulled on Chronicled Wish the way you really should, you would leave the banner with zero pity and no guarantee. This leaves your normal event wish pity alone, so you still actually have one. If the character you wanted was on a regular event banner, your entire event banner pity would be zero and you’d have no guarantee. The only downside along the lines of what you describe is the result of not having enough pulls to get everyone you want. Happens.
I think its for a full version. The banner in the livestream said "Version 4.5 chronicled wish banner", and there was no "First half/second half" text like they do for limited banners.
Meanwhile, in Honkai Impact, there's six tabs for banners in the gacha screen, two of which expand into two additional tabs each I almost forgot. New and returning players get another two banners
To be fair, Honkai Gacha structure are very different than Genshin because in Honkai, you kinda needs everyone who isnt outdated yet, so it's very overwhelming which one to pull even tho they gave us like free 40 pulls. thanks goodness they changed even just for Part 2 Characters onward.
If you like it, use it. If you don't like it, don't use it. I don't know why this is so difficult for this community to understand.. So many people arguing about literally nothing.
Missing the forest for trees. They are too busy arguing the fates and pity they forget you pull on a banner if you want the stuff on the banner. You want a character or weapon on the banner? Roll. You want to save for Arle or Chlorine? Then don't roll. It really is simple as that.
It would have been good for me when I started and was DESPERATE for Mona. I even refused to move onto Liyue until I had her. *It took 8 fucking months* and it was one of the luckiest pulls I've had. Even if these characters aren't meta defining- there are Genshin players like us who just love a character and want to play them. Especially if the character is a Standard 5-star only. At least a Limited is a guarantee after 160. I'm pretty sure I exceeded 800 pulls until Mona showed up.
It took me 2 years to get C0 Qiqi. This banner may be a blessing for people like me who still don't have a standard banner character or want a specific weapon.
Jean was the standard banner character I was most interested in when I started in 1.0 Anemo was cool, yeeting enemies was fun....aand now it's 4.5 and I still don't have her.
Considering I only ever pull on banners where I'm able and willing to hit 160 pulls for the 5* I want this is basically a third feature banner but with more options for collateral damage. I just wish they repeat often enough and feature limited characters for it to be worth the intertwined fates.
Calling out Yoimiya like that... Passed her up after soft-pitying Kazuha in 2.8, and passed her again and again. By the forth time, the stars had aligned, and I finally became something of a Yoimiya Main myself~
The only problem with it is that its really bad for people who impulse pull because it doesnt save your path, which is essentially your pity So if you only have enough for 90 pulls and you lose 50/50 you dont even get a guarantee for next time you just straight up lose All you can hope for at that point is that you lose 50/50 to another event character
That's the thing, this banner isn't perfect, and it would be nicer if for example faith points carried over. But it is a good banner, it has several benefits over the normal limited banners, especially if you want more than one of the 5 stars on offer. This first banner I won't be wishing on, I'd like to get Mona, but I'm not yet at a point where I would use it for standard 5 star characters. But another version with limited 5 stars I actually do want, I will definitely make use of it. It might also finally make me wish for a weapon if one I'd really like is included. I really do hope it becomes a permanent banner though, ideally running a full patch or maybe even two, perfect for building up wishes.
Think of it this way, at least with this new banner system, (assuming the characters that are showcased are other limited characters instead of the standard) if you were to lose your 50/50, at least you get something that's not from the usual standard, like Qiqi for example.
I hope it lasts for around 2-3 versions. Quick enough to change somewhat frequently but long enough to maybe get 2 five stars since then the fate points won’t be too big of a downside
I'm excited, when I watched the announcement stream this was unexpected but very welcomed for me. I didn't think it was that hard to follow how the banner worked and then after reading the hoyolab post Q/A it was definitely made clear to me. Personally my biggest feat I'm hoping for is still a Paimon shop rework that maybe has 5* characters or weapons but this is welcome from me. I'm a launch player and I don't have every character/ weapon but I'm willing to spend some money when I feel it would be for something I'll enjoy or use for a while. This is finally a way for me to get a Skyward Harp. I'm someone who's super selective on what I wish for, through all of Version 3 I only wished for Tighnari Dehya and Albedo because nothing else felt interesting so for me this banner is really good because the reward of things I want it higher
Eventhough the current banner might be a midfest. Looking into the future, this banner is gonna be better than anything we imagine now. Like maybe even better than the normal limited banner Eventually, theyre gonna have to put some pretty good but old units on there like think of the early liyue roster. There is eventually gonna be an inazuma theme. Ayaka and mistsplitter on banner anyone? Similar with those good units will come good weapons which we will now more easily be able to get with only 1 fate point requirement Plus we wont have like dehya and qiqi on the same banner most of the time so losimg your 50/50 to absolutely useless units will be less likely. This banner will eventually become slightly worse than the good limited banners which have good 4 stars but better than the average character banner They are gonna have to artificially keep it down for this to not happen. If things happen naturally, this banner has a good future
I think it was your video on Tignahri's limited banner, I commented that I do not own Jean after playing the game since day 1so I would be pulling for him. It has now been another year, I have C2 Tignahri and no Jean. I will be pulling on this banner.
I wonder if something from FGO could maybe work here: In addition to standard and limited characters FGO has a third type of characters: Story locked These characters start off as limited but get added to the standard pool after a certain amount of story progress
the banner add the option to lose your 50/50 to a limited 5 star, which means if it has at least one character you want, then you have a chance to get way more from a lost 50/50 than from the event banners. they could make the banner stacked or awful depending on which characters they put on it, right now they put the three worst mondstadt characters basically (which are coincidentally some of my faves to play), but they could in a few patches put that one niche character you always wanted but could never bring yourself to get because wishes are expensive. well now he's next to 2 other limited 5 stars you can lose your 50/50 to, maybe even characters you already use, so suddenly it's a little more worth to pull for.
I guess the main thing about this banner is access to weapons. If characters signature weapons appear on it, it'll outclass the weapon banner, so I believe they either won't, or will be very rare. Also, featured ones needs at least 3 reruns and if leak rumors are true, we might get a new tendency of characters that are OP, but only with their signature weapon, so this way Hoyo will flay the wallets of those wishing on new characters and their weapons until their 3rd reruns. The 2nd main thing is access to standarders. I've been playing religiously since 2.8 and still got no Qiqi, Jean, Tighnari and only got my first Diluc and Dehya in the last 2 months. Its too early to judge this banner, but I think it's very positive overall. Hunter's Path and Beacon Reed are definitely traps to make people broke before Arlecchino, though.
I need to ask, how would triple banners work if they were added instead of Chronicled Wish? Would there be a banner for each of the 3 characters and 1 weapon banner? Or would there be 2 weapon banners with 2 signature weapons on 1 banner and the other banner has the last signature and a standard 5 star weapon, or would one of the signature weapons be on both weapon banners? Or would there be a separate banner for each combination of 2 weapons? They could rework the weapon system entirely, but do we really expect Mihoyo to ever do something that would make the weapon banners any less predatory again? Either way, the only way there would be the same amount of banners as just adding Chronicled wish would be the first option I said, but having 3 weapons on the weapon banner would either make it more complicated, by you choosing which weapons you would want, or the odds of getting the weapon you actually want would be dropped to 25%.
I love the concept of this banner, but for me, it just doesn’t work out. I have had Klee since her first rerun, was nerved interested in getting Eula, but I really want Albedo, his prior reruns just had bad timing for me. Of course I don’t mind getting Eula, since a new character is always nice, but I don’t really need C1 of Klee. (In general, C1 of older characters is often worse than others). On top of that, I would need to build up new pity all the way from 0, potentially needing over 150 wishes just for one character (I might even lose the fate point if I am really unlucky) As someone who already has most of the characters they want, just missing a few, it sadly just isn’t worth the investment. I hope future banners are better for me since for example other C1 are pretty decent (like Hu Tao), or I don‘t have any of the limited 5 Stars.

One real problem is that one of the criteria for a limited character to get onto the Chronicled Wish is to have at least THREE total runs under their belt first. This means things like how Shenhe can't get rerun yet because she's only on 2 runs; which means they're probably NOT going to run this Chronicled Wish every patch, because it won't work that way. We really need to see how a second Chronicled Wish plays out to see the general future of it: for example, one thing we can infer from our first one ever is that it is a fully Mondstadt focused one (outside of weapons but whatever) for characters: everyone is from Mondstadt. Also (idk if Amber Kaeya Lisa will be on this) no idea on 4*. But thematically, right now all we have is a "regional" theme.
I take my words back, this banner is better than I expected. 1) It doesn't have two fate points, like that scamming weapon banner, you'll get a guarantee after first lose. 2) Regional banner limits characters from other regions, which is good because: more chance to get starter characters since they're from Mondstadt (I literally have C2 Kaeya, C2 Lisa and C1 Amber thanks to this banner) 3) When you choose a weapon, it limits on losing on weapon only vice versa with characters, it's very good, because you can't get unwanted character when you only wanted a weapon. 4) Now limited weapons of Standard characters (Dehya and Tighnari) are no longer in awkward position, and you can finally pull them, I finally got Bacon! 5) You literally can lose your 50/50 to a limited character, what an irony 6) and also you can get many limited characters in one banner, not just 2(excluded standards). 7) People who can't get a specific standard character and/or constellations finally can choose them, cough Jean cough. (Add something what also you found good)
As a Klee main, I'm not even mad. I learned extra patience through working around the klunkiness. I'd also extra embrace this banner if it allows us to pick up the free weapons from past events.
A lot of people were also upset it doesn't used standard banner fates which I think is a little silly, since it also isn't a replacement for the standard banner.
And then Hoyo comes out and says, "oh btw the 5 star chance on this banner is 0.4%, we forgot to mention that last time!" Or it could be 0.8% or 1.2%. We don't know, and honestly knowing the rates is really the primary thing you'd want before evaluating a banner. People are assuming it's the same old 0.6 but that was never stated officially and the fact they didn't post it implies something is up with that. Maybe they are planning to set the rates based on player response, for example 0.4 if most online reactions are positive but 1.2 if they are overwhelmingly negative. We also don't know about the 4 stars. It's being assumed there are no rate ups and it's like the standard banner but no official info on it. It might only have 4 stars from that region. It might or might not have 4 star limited weapons or event weapons. It might even have rate up 4 stars like normal banners, or a system that allows players to pick them similar to the 5 star path.
The fact that things are obtainable or guarantee-able now that weren't before possibly makes this better than triple banners even if the character throughput is less in reality. On top of that, you can lose the 50/50 to a limited unit. If you are going for constellations on older characters, this banner is a better value. About the rerun time... the character throughput will be the same. We might not see another of these for quite a few versions (I think 4.8 or 5.3 since they are slower patches). But it will still be the same character throughput. If they introduced triple banners, it likely wouldn't be consistent until after 5.0. It was inconsistent with the start of double banners before they became consistent in 3.0. They will do either the triple banners or this new chronicle banner on demand as needed to make sure they fit each character having at least 1 banner within a region. That's the pattern they've been following, even with Eula. She just had a run near the start of one region and near the end of the next. With just this one chronicle banner with 3 limited units, they've solved the issue of getting every character at least 1 rerun within the (major) version. They never were going to actually speed up the character reruns to shorten the duration between them. They want the fomo. They are only keeping the rerun time about where its at. So. All in all this is a better system. Same throughput, additional weapons and guarantee's, and its better for old character cons. (I noticed you didn't address the fate point thing people keep complaining about. I really don't see that as a major issue.)
I think that they should have added a banner where you can pick a 5 start for fhe chance up maybe even the 4 stars, I believe that if such a banner comes around 3 times a year alot of players will be happy
I think the biggest thing people are overlooking, especially people new to Genshin is no rate up 4 stars, 4 stars in Genshin are amazing and a big factor in whether you should pull on a banner or wait for a rerun and this banner not having that is a big downside.
Despite the needing to deal with 50/50 every time I see the new banner as a positive. The pool of 5 stars now making it so you can lose to a limited and the fact the weapon banner is better then the event version are pluses. I've skipped Albedo till now and the fact that all I need to not lose to is Mona(have her c6 ;_;) this first chronicled wish I see as an 80% win. Current plan for 4.5 is try and get Neuvilette's weapon in limited then throw what I have left into the character half of the new banner (then maybe if I get Albedo I'll go for Eula's sword)
clarification, with the evidence of hindsight, double banners didnt make characters come back twice as fast. It made Yoimiya return way to often and the old abandoned units still barely returned
Im hoping that the weapon banner exclusive four stars will be on this banner, I refuse to wish on the weapon banner as a f2p but having stringless and other four stars would be nice!
Here a simple reason why it's better than triple banner (we are talking about 3 * 2 banner, not 3 phases of 14 days instead of 21) : The weapon banner The weapon banner, have two sig weapon on it, if we have 3 characters banner than mean they would put 3 weapon on the banner making it even worst than it is today. And would not solve the Beacon and Hunter's Path issue
It’s not gonna be a good value for everyone, but you also don’t have to pull on the banner. This is a good way to make characters who aren’t as profitable and (subjectively) a “waste” of an event banner slot still obtainable. Also, not that I see Hoyo dropping too many new standard 5*s going forward, but it’s great to see the limited 5* weapons for Dehya and Tighnari finally reappear somewhere
Fate point is the only thing screwing this banner up. It would be great if we could also choose the rate up 4*s as well but thats just an extra thing that would be really nice, the fate point requiring 160 pulls for low value characters is awful :(
I just hope they make it clear to new players how the banner works. The fate point not carrying over is not that big of a deal, as long as people are informed of it. (Unless they're gamba addicts obviously)
The chronical wish's problem is that it requires a lot of investment because of the fate system and for characters that aren't really good. I rather keep wishing towards the normal banner anyway just because my progress always carries
I wonder if we'll ever get to a point where all the characters available on the cycle would be limited characters and not a single standard character. That way, you won't technically lose the pity :0
Something that I've not seen said nough is how good it will FEELS to lose a 50/50 to a limited 5 star. Sure Eula, Klee and Albedo may not actually be that much better than the standard 5 stars and personally I don't even want Eula or Klee, but it would feel so much better to get one of them than to get a character that is a permanent member on literally every single banner that you were probably going to get sooner or later anyways.
If you know what you're doing, and have 160+ wishes saved, it's better than triple banners--more characters, rare weapons, losing 50/50 isn't quite as bad. For impulsive wishers and new players, it's worse, because of the fate point trap. It'd be a little better if it was AR-locked or something. Ideally they'd just let the fate point carry over, but it's very unlikely they'll backpedal on that.
gacha has always been predatory. It's a business of course they'll try to bait you into spending, especially those hopeless gacha addicts. This chronicle banner has plenty of good points which Ratheil has already point out the only downside I see it has is the guarantee doesn't carry over, which can easily be overcome if you know how to save primogems and plan your pulls. If you're the type who immediately wish once you get 160 primogem, then this banner is really bad for you. Devs wont make this chronicle banner equal or better since it will reduce the value of the existing event banner.
I think chronicled wish isn’t necessarily an alternative to triple banners, I think it was an alternative to migrating the early limited characters who’ve rerun 3+ times to the standard banner, and I think it’s both a good and bad thing
The banner is not perfect, mainly the fate point thing, but it's more good than bad, just as Mihoyo intended for it to be. Personally, I won't touch it cause I'm a long time player and already have every characters I want. But I can see this to be a very tempting banner for newer players, cause there can be multiple characters they want in it.
My only issue is that my choice of attempting a 50/50 for Albedo got removed because of this banner. I would’ve rather liked getting a normal banner for Albedo after waiting a year.
After coming back to this game after quitting back at Childes 2nd banner and seeing all this stuff still going on I've already quit again. I don't really understand this game at all and why it still exists to be honest.
Fate points do not carry over to next version and pity doesn't count towards the main banners (I think). So if you wish in this banner it has to be until a 5 star, otherwise you're wasting wishes, and that sucks for new and FTP players. Ironically, this fits whales better but whales probably have everything at this point so it's kinda useless for them at the same time. I would have liked a triple banner instead, to be honest.
my problem with the chronicle banner is that it seems to be a banner for characters that won´t get any buffes in the future anymore which sucks for people who likes them. This banner killed my hope for any future Unit being a buff for Eula and Albedo, 2 Units I like are barely playable when you have better Units. Xiao got Faruzan and Xianyun, while Albedo and Eula got nothing and now that they are on the throw away banner they will never get any good new Units to help them out. I think this banner will stay full fontaine and then when Natlan comes out we will se something like Yoimiya, Ganyu and Ayato. It´s just a banner for Units that don´t make money and neither will they give them better units to help them out. Eula is worse then Diluc and Keqing now like for real I rather pull a standard 5 star then Eula if I wouldn´t have her already
nah eula buffs are pretty likely all be it not soon. as in sneznaya not soon or if varka comes in natlan then then ,which is still around a year from now the soonest. hoyo shows willingness to explore all the playstyles consolidate all roles it will be physicals turn eventually. or it might not ,doesn't matter i only play 3 days per version update anyway and if tsaritsa isn't the buffer i've been waiting for imma unistall all hoyo games and never look back so its a win win either way
I think they might make the cronical wish banner more of a rerun banner for older characters instead of reruning them on a separate banner. That way they can make it so that new characters get their own banner and after their rerun they appear on the cronical wish banner.

ARLECCHINO, SKIRK, DOTORRE, VARKA, ETC. is upcoming! wow, i don't have primos for these characters! surely these outdated units aren't powerc- What do you mean majority of the 4.0 released units powercrept previous units and has less clunky gameplay? huh? Eula spam reset? One step Albedo Flower? Unlimited Cancels with Klee? what are those, surely im not gonna have issues on 1.0 characters and not regret these pulls months of investments later, the outdated units barely used on any thing and benched til the end of time. I do think it’s more of a good thing than a bad thing. Older characters who aren’t as popular anymore but still have plenty of fans can be put on this banner in groups of 3, which leaves the 2 main limited banners free for the more popular and newer characters. This will really help to clean up the banner system while still allowing people to get their hands on members of the old guard.
Personally, I still love Ganyu and still use her as one of my mains. The game has mostly moved on from her, but she’s still quite good. I’d hate it if new players were unable to get her just because the heyday of her popularity is over and there’s less money to be made from her banner.

as a relatively new player (started in 3.3) who only has two of the units on the upcoming Chronicle wish, and who WANTS the older units, this is a godsend because i can wish on it without blowing my pity for the limited banners!
i don’t hear anyone discussing this- it’s another banner to save up pity on, so if you have your guarantee that you’re saving for your favorite unit, you can still pull for other units that you may want!
Just keep in mind that while pity count for the Chronicled Wish carries over, the guarantee is tied to the Fate Point and that won’t roll over. So you still gotta mind your primo stash.
That's a downside but I agree no one really talks about it.
First it's bad because it means you have more pulls spent on pity without reaching a 5 star at any moment, as they are now split between two banners. Oh, you had 120 pulls on the character banner, and another 90 saved up, too bad that's not enough for the character you want because it's on the new banner where your pity is zero and you'd need 180.
Second because it's unsafe to pull on the new banner unless you have 90 wishes remaining after you pull (as you'd risk losing your fate point if you can't continue pulling after a lost 50.) but also because building pity on a banner where there are no rate up 4 stars you want is meaningless anyway. If you don't have enough to get the 5 star you want, pulling on this banner is not just risky but also pointless because you aren't getting 4 stars you wanted in the process.
@@SeravySensei if you pulled on Chronicled Wish the way you really should, you would leave the banner with zero pity and no guarantee. This leaves your normal event wish pity alone, so you still actually have one. If the character you wanted was on a regular event banner, your entire event banner pity would be zero and you’d have no guarantee.
The only downside along the lines of what you describe is the result of not having enough pulls to get everyone you want. Happens.

To be fair, Honkai Gacha structure are very different than Genshin because in Honkai, you kinda needs everyone who isnt outdated yet, so it's very overwhelming which one to pull even tho they gave us like free 40 pulls.

Missing the forest for trees. They are too busy arguing the fates and pity they forget you pull on a banner if you want the stuff on the banner.
You want a character or weapon on the banner? Roll. You want to save for Arle or Chlorine? Then don't roll. It really is simple as that.
It would have been good for me when I started and was DESPERATE for Mona. I even refused to move onto Liyue until I had her. *It took 8 fucking months* and it was one of the luckiest pulls I've had.
Even if these characters aren't meta defining- there are Genshin players like us who just love a character and want to play them. Especially if the character is a Standard 5-star only. At least a Limited is a guarantee after 160. I'm pretty sure I exceeded 800 pulls until Mona showed up.
It took me 2 years to get C0 Qiqi. This banner may be a blessing for people like me who still don't have a standard banner character or want a specific weapon.

Considering I only ever pull on banners where I'm able and willing to hit 160 pulls for the 5* I want this is basically a third feature banner but with more options for collateral damage. I just wish they repeat often enough and feature limited characters for it to be worth the intertwined fates.
Calling out Yoimiya like that... Passed her up after soft-pitying Kazuha in 2.8, and passed her again and again. By the forth time, the stars had aligned, and I finally became something of a Yoimiya Main myself~
The only problem with it is that its really bad for people who impulse pull because it doesnt save your path, which is essentially your pity
So if you only have enough for 90 pulls and you lose 50/50 you dont even get a guarantee for next time you just straight up lose
All you can hope for at that point is that you lose 50/50 to another event character
That's the thing, this banner isn't perfect, and it would be nicer if for example faith points carried over. But it is a good banner, it has several benefits over the normal limited banners, especially if you want more than one of the 5 stars on offer. This first banner I won't be wishing on, I'd like to get Mona, but I'm not yet at a point where I would use it for standard 5 star characters. But another version with limited 5 stars I actually do want, I will definitely make use of it. It might also finally make me wish for a weapon if one I'd really like is included.
I really do hope it becomes a permanent banner though, ideally running a full patch or maybe even two, perfect for building up wishes.
Think of it this way, at least with this new banner system, (assuming the characters that are showcased are other limited characters instead of the standard) if you were to lose your 50/50, at least you get something that's not from the usual standard, like Qiqi for example.
It looks like all of this banner is Monstadt based. I would expect the next version to include similar characters from Liyue or Inazuma.
I hope it lasts for around 2-3 versions. Quick enough to change somewhat frequently but long enough to maybe get 2 five stars since then the fate points won’t be too big of a downside
I'm excited, when I watched the announcement stream this was unexpected but very welcomed for me. I didn't think it was that hard to follow how the banner worked and then after reading the hoyolab post Q/A it was definitely made clear to me. Personally my biggest feat I'm hoping for is still a Paimon shop rework that maybe has 5* characters or weapons but this is welcome from me. I'm a launch player and I don't have every character/ weapon but I'm willing to spend some money when I feel it would be for something I'll enjoy or use for a while. This is finally a way for me to get a Skyward Harp. I'm someone who's super selective on what I wish for, through all of Version 3 I only wished for Tighnari Dehya and Albedo because nothing else felt interesting so for me this banner is really good because the reward of things I want it higher

Eventually, theyre gonna have to put some pretty good but old units on there like think of the early liyue roster. There is eventually gonna be an inazuma theme. Ayaka and mistsplitter on banner anyone?
Similar with those good units will come good weapons which we will now more easily be able to get with only 1 fate point requirement
Plus we wont have like dehya and qiqi on the same banner most of the time so losimg your 50/50 to absolutely useless units will be less likely.
This banner will eventually become slightly worse than the good limited banners which have good 4 stars but better than the average character banner
They are gonna have to artificially keep it down for this to not happen. If things happen naturally, this banner has a good future

I think it was your video on Tignahri's limited banner, I commented that I do not own Jean after playing the game since day 1so I would be pulling for him. It has now been another year, I have C2 Tignahri and no Jean. I will be pulling on this banner.
I got my first Limited 5 Star C1 on the Banner. It was Eula.
Its better than weapon banner that's for sure
Its great for players like me who waited many patches for a single character. I started in 3.2 and missed out on Albedo until this one.
You can also guarantee standard 5 stars that may have eluded you for a long time.

These characters start off as limited but get added to the standard pool after a certain amount of story progress
the banner add the option to lose your 50/50 to a limited 5 star, which means if it has at least one character you want, then you have a chance to get way more from a lost 50/50 than from the event banners.
they could make the banner stacked or awful depending on which characters they put on it, right now they put the three worst mondstadt characters basically (which are coincidentally some of my faves to play), but they could in a few patches put that one niche character you always wanted but could never bring yourself to get because wishes are expensive. well now he's next to 2 other limited 5 stars you can lose your 50/50 to, maybe even characters you already use, so suddenly it's a little more worth to pull for.
I guess the main thing about this banner is access to weapons. If characters signature weapons appear on it, it'll outclass the weapon banner, so I believe they either won't, or will be very rare.
Also, featured ones needs at least 3 reruns and if leak rumors are true, we might get a new tendency of characters that are OP, but only with their signature weapon, so this way Hoyo will flay the wallets of those wishing on new characters and their weapons until their 3rd reruns.
The 2nd main thing is access to standarders. I've been playing religiously since 2.8 and still got no Qiqi, Jean, Tighnari and only got my first Diluc and Dehya in the last 2 months.
Its too early to judge this banner, but I think it's very positive overall. Hunter's Path and Beacon Reed are definitely traps to make people broke before Arlecchino, though.
I need to ask, how would triple banners work if they were added instead of Chronicled Wish? Would there be a banner for each of the 3 characters and 1 weapon banner? Or would there be 2 weapon banners with 2 signature weapons on 1 banner and the other banner has the last signature and a standard 5 star weapon, or would one of the signature weapons be on both weapon banners? Or would there be a separate banner for each combination of 2 weapons? They could rework the weapon system entirely, but do we really expect Mihoyo to ever do something that would make the weapon banners any less predatory again?
Either way, the only way there would be the same amount of banners as just adding Chronicled wish would be the first option I said, but having 3 weapons on the weapon banner would either make it more complicated, by you choosing which weapons you would want, or the odds of getting the weapon you actually want would be dropped to 25%.
I love the concept of this banner, but for me, it just doesn’t work out.
I have had Klee since her first rerun, was nerved interested in getting Eula, but I really want Albedo, his prior reruns just had bad timing for me. Of course I don’t mind getting Eula, since a new character is always nice, but I don’t really need C1 of Klee. (In general, C1 of older characters is often worse than others).
On top of that, I would need to build up new pity all the way from 0, potentially needing over 150 wishes just for one character (I might even lose the fate point if I am really unlucky)
As someone who already has most of the characters they want, just missing a few, it sadly just isn’t worth the investment. I hope future banners are better for me since for example other C1 are pretty decent (like Hu Tao), or I don‘t have any of the limited 5 Stars.

One real problem is that one of the criteria for a limited character to get onto the Chronicled Wish is to have at least THREE total runs under their belt first. This means things like how Shenhe can't get rerun yet because she's only on 2 runs; which means they're probably NOT going to run this Chronicled Wish every patch, because it won't work that way.
We really need to see how a second Chronicled Wish plays out to see the general future of it: for example, one thing we can infer from our first one ever is that it is a fully Mondstadt focused one (outside of weapons but whatever) for characters: everyone is from Mondstadt. Also (idk if Amber Kaeya Lisa will be on this) no idea on 4*. But thematically, right now all we have is a "regional" theme.
I take my words back, this banner is better than I expected.
1) It doesn't have two fate points, like that scamming weapon banner, you'll get a guarantee after first lose.
2) Regional banner limits characters from other regions, which is good because: more chance to get starter characters since they're from Mondstadt (I literally have C2 Kaeya, C2 Lisa and C1 Amber thanks to this banner)
3) When you choose a weapon, it limits on losing on weapon only vice versa with characters, it's very good, because you can't get unwanted character when you only wanted a weapon.
4) Now limited weapons of Standard characters (Dehya and Tighnari) are no longer in awkward position, and you can finally pull them, I finally got Bacon!
5) You literally can lose your 50/50 to a limited character, what an irony 6) and also you can get many limited characters in one banner, not just 2(excluded standards).
7) People who can't get a specific standard character and/or constellations finally can choose them, cough Jean cough.

I learned extra patience through working around the klunkiness.
I'd also extra embrace this banner if it allows us to pick up the free weapons from past events.
I just want more Dehya and more Beacons. If this is the way to get them, so be it.
A lot of people were also upset it doesn't used standard banner fates which I think is a little silly, since it also isn't a replacement for the standard banner.
And then Hoyo comes out and says, "oh btw the 5 star chance on this banner is 0.4%, we forgot to mention that last time!" Or it could be 0.8% or 1.2%. We don't know, and honestly knowing the rates is really the primary thing you'd want before evaluating a banner. People are assuming it's the same old 0.6 but that was never stated officially and the fact they didn't post it implies something is up with that. Maybe they are planning to set the rates based on player response, for example 0.4 if most online reactions are positive but 1.2 if they are overwhelmingly negative.
We also don't know about the 4 stars. It's being assumed there are no rate ups and it's like the standard banner but no official info on it. It might only have 4 stars from that region. It might or might not have 4 star limited weapons or event weapons. It might even have rate up 4 stars like normal banners, or a system that allows players to pick them similar to the 5 star path.
The fact that things are obtainable or guarantee-able now that weren't before possibly makes this better than triple banners even if the character throughput is less in reality. On top of that, you can lose the 50/50 to a limited unit. If you are going for constellations on older characters, this banner is a better value.
About the rerun time... the character throughput will be the same. We might not see another of these for quite a few versions (I think 4.8 or 5.3 since they are slower patches). But it will still be the same character throughput. If they introduced triple banners, it likely wouldn't be consistent until after 5.0. It was inconsistent with the start of double banners before they became consistent in 3.0. They will do either the triple banners or this new chronicle banner on demand as needed to make sure they fit each character having at least 1 banner within a region. That's the pattern they've been following, even with Eula. She just had a run near the start of one region and near the end of the next. With just this one chronicle banner with 3 limited units, they've solved the issue of getting every character at least 1 rerun within the (major) version. They never were going to actually speed up the character reruns to shorten the duration between them. They want the fomo. They are only keeping the rerun time about where its at.
So. All in all this is a better system. Same throughput, additional weapons and guarantee's, and its better for old character cons.
(I noticed you didn't address the fate point thing people keep complaining about. I really don't see that as a major issue.)
I think that they should have added a banner where you can pick a 5 start for fhe chance up maybe even the 4 stars, I believe that if such a banner comes around 3 times a year alot of players will be happy

I think the biggest thing people are overlooking, especially people new to Genshin is no rate up 4 stars, 4 stars in Genshin are amazing and a big factor in whether you should pull on a banner or wait for a rerun and this banner not having that is a big downside.

Despite the needing to deal with 50/50 every time I see the new banner as a positive. The pool of 5 stars now making it so you can lose to a limited and the fact the weapon banner is better then the event version are pluses.
I've skipped Albedo till now and the fact that all I need to not lose to is Mona(have her c6 ;_;) this first chronicled wish I see as an 80% win.
Current plan for 4.5 is try and get Neuvilette's weapon in limited then throw what I have left into the character half of the new banner (then maybe if I get Albedo I'll go for Eula's sword)
clarification, with the evidence of hindsight, double banners didnt make characters come back twice as fast. It made Yoimiya return way to often and the old abandoned units still barely returned

The weapon banner, have two sig weapon on it, if we have 3 characters banner than mean they would put 3 weapon on the banner making it even worst than it is today. And would not solve the Beacon and Hunter's Path issue

It’s not gonna be a good value for everyone, but you also don’t have to pull on the banner. This is a good way to make characters who aren’t as profitable and (subjectively) a “waste” of an event banner slot still obtainable. Also, not that I see Hoyo dropping too many new standard 5*s going forward, but it’s great to see the limited 5* weapons for Dehya and Tighnari finally reappear somewhere
Fate point is the only thing screwing this banner up. It would be great if we could also choose the rate up 4*s as well but thats just an extra thing that would be really nice, the fate point requiring 160 pulls for low value characters is awful :(
I just hope they make it clear to new players how the banner works. The fate point not carrying over is not that big of a deal, as long as people are informed of it. (Unless they're gamba addicts obviously)

The chronical wish's problem is that it requires a lot of investment because of the fate system and for characters that aren't really good. I rather keep wishing towards the normal banner anyway just because my progress always carries
the only thing setting chronicled banned back is fate point system that resets after the banner is gone, dont think that was a nesessery move by hoyo

The problem is lack of carry over. It's the same reason I've stopped investing anything in weapons banner.
I wonder if we'll ever get to a point where all the characters available on the cycle would be limited characters and not a single standard character. That way, you won't technically lose the pity :0
Something that I've not seen said nough is how good it will FEELS to lose a 50/50 to a limited 5 star. Sure Eula, Klee and Albedo may not actually be that much better than the standard 5 stars and personally I don't even want Eula or Klee, but it would feel so much better to get one of them than to get a character that is a permanent member on literally every single banner that you were probably going to get sooner or later anyways.
If you know what you're doing, and have 160+ wishes saved, it's better than triple banners--more characters, rare weapons, losing 50/50 isn't quite as bad. For impulsive wishers and new players, it's worse, because of the fate point trap. It'd be a little better if it was AR-locked or something. Ideally they'd just let the fate point carry over, but it's very unlikely they'll backpedal on that.
gacha has always been predatory. It's a business of course they'll try to bait you into spending, especially those hopeless gacha addicts.
This chronicle banner has plenty of good points which Ratheil has already point out
the only downside I see it has is the guarantee doesn't carry over, which can easily be overcome if you know how to save primogems and plan your pulls.
If you're the type who immediately wish once you get 160 primogem, then this banner is really bad for you.
Devs wont make this chronicle banner equal or better since it will reduce the value of the existing event banner.
I think chronicled wish isn’t necessarily an alternative to triple banners, I think it was an alternative to migrating the early limited characters who’ve rerun 3+ times to the standard banner, and I think it’s both a good and bad thing

The banner is not perfect, mainly the fate point thing, but it's more good than bad, just as Mihoyo intended for it to be.
Personally, I won't touch it cause I'm a long time player and already have every characters I want. But I can see this to be a very tempting banner for newer players, cause there can be multiple characters they want in it.
My only issue is that my choice of attempting a 50/50 for Albedo got removed because of this banner. I would’ve rather liked getting a normal banner for Albedo after waiting a year.

After coming back to this game after quitting back at Childes 2nd banner and seeing all this stuff still going on I've already quit again.
I don't really understand this game at all and why it still exists to be honest.
Fate points do not carry over to next version and pity doesn't count towards the main banners (I think). So if you wish in this banner it has to be until a 5 star, otherwise you're wasting wishes, and that sucks for new and FTP players. Ironically, this fits whales better but whales probably have everything at this point so it's kinda useless for them at the same time. I would have liked a triple banner instead, to be honest.
my problem with the chronicle banner is that it seems to be a banner for characters that won´t get any buffes in the future anymore which sucks for people who likes them. This banner killed my hope for any future Unit being a buff for Eula and Albedo, 2 Units I like are barely playable when you have better Units. Xiao got Faruzan and Xianyun, while Albedo and Eula got nothing and now that they are on the throw away banner they will never get any good new Units to help them out. I think this banner will stay full fontaine and then when Natlan comes out we will se something like Yoimiya, Ganyu and Ayato. It´s just a banner for Units that don´t make money and neither will they give them better units to help them out. Eula is worse then Diluc and Keqing now like for real I rather pull a standard 5 star then Eula if I wouldn´t have her already
nah eula buffs are pretty likely all be it not soon. as in sneznaya not soon or if varka comes in natlan then then ,which is still around a year from now the soonest. hoyo shows willingness to explore all the playstyles consolidate all roles it will be physicals turn eventually. or it might not ,doesn't matter i only play 3 days per version update anyway and if tsaritsa isn't the buffer i've been waiting for imma unistall all hoyo games and never look back so its a win win either way

I think they might make the cronical wish banner more of a rerun banner for older characters instead of reruning them on a separate banner. That way they can make it so that new characters get their own banner and after their rerun they appear on the cronical wish banner.
