Hats Off To (Roy) Harper (Awful) 2. Your Time Is Gonna Come (Doesn’t Get Going) 3. The Lemon Song (Too Bluesy) 4. Candy Store Rock (Annoying) 5. Four Sticks (Average) I love Hot Dog & South Bound Suarez. Physical Graffiti is their best album in my opinion.
Interesting part of the video: When Mr. Popoff called “For Your Life” a “chord-y” song, the closed captioning printed the word QWERTY - in all caps - as opposed to chordy. Bizarre!
My album: Lead Balloon Side One 1. Hot Dog 2. Boogie With Stu 3. Candy Store Rock 4. Hats off to (Roy) Harper Side Two 1. Dy'er Ma'ker 2. All My Love 3. Moby Dick 4. The Crunge
@@sufferingzappatache7231 Page's guitar work and John Paul-Jones' synthesizer solo on that song are worth the price of entry. I think it's a beautiful tune.
@@sufferingzappatache7231 All My Love does nothing for me for the same reason as yours. But I like D'yer Mak'er because there are almost 20 great Bonham drum fills.
Interestingly, on Martin's side, the only one I'd pick would be "The Lemon Song" but not for the reasons he went for. On my copy, I've edited it so that middle section which "rambles on and on"......{😉} is very short. The rest of the song I quite like and it's pretty heavy in parts. "Since I've been loving you" for me is Zeppelin gold, as is "For your Life." I have adored the former for 43 years and the latter took a few more years to grow on me but since about '95, it's been my favourite track on "Presence." "Hots on for nowhere" was actually an early fave of mine when I first heard the album back in 1980. I still love it. "Your time is gonna come" is a song that really showcases what Led Zeppelin were originally meant to be, which is a varied band that had its fingers in a number of different pies ~ including pop. Page and Jones had, between them, done tons of sessions on a variety of artists' records and they were musicians that could turn their hand to a bewildering array of styles. "Your time is gonna come" is part of that original blueprint and represents the pop angle, alonside the blues angle, the folk angle, the exotica angle and the heavy rock angle. If one thinks about it, both Zeppelin and Purple had similar beginnings, not least that they both came together in '68 and were musicians and singers that had to learn to blend together rather than friends that had been playing for ages as kids or people that regularly jammed and decided to form a group. The main difference between the two was that Zeppelin remained Jimmy Page's brainchild and more or less kept to his original vision, whereas the guy that initially put the idea together that became Deep Purple, Chris Curtis, floated off into the ether and the people he'd selected were left holding the baby and had to proceed from there which partly accounts for their lack of specific direction until 1970. But both outfits didn't begin as heavy rockers, they were more varied than that with heavy rock forming only a part of their output. It was live gigs that cemented Zep's rise to stardom and in 1969, they played loud heavy rock on stage and that impacted people. It's interesting that on their early tours of the US, their manager used to find out from DJs what the most popular tracks from "Led Zeppelin" and later "Led Zeppelin 2" were and the band tailored the set accordingly. The songs that made people sit up and go "Wow !" on the debut were not the Indian, pop or folky songs, it was the heavies. But songs like "Your time is gonna come" are nevertheless as vital to early Led Zeppelin as anything else that apeared on that first album.
Here is my grading of the "bad" LZ songs: The Crunge - 8 Hot Dog - 3 (this one really deserves to be on this album) Candy Store Rock - 5 Hats Off to (Roy) Harper - 6 South Bound Saurez - 8 Your Time Is Gonna Come - 7 The Lemon Song - 5 Since I've Been Loving You - 9 (my favorite blues by LZ) For Your Life - 6 Hots On For Nowhere - 5 It makes an average 6.2 - pretty decent
Nobody's Fault But Theirs : Side A : 1 - D'yer Mak'er 2 - Hot Dog 3 - Royal Orleans 4 - Hots On For Nowhere Side B: 1 - Hats Off To (Roy) Harper 2 - South Bound Saurez 3 - The Crunge 4 - Tea For One
@@AbbeyRoadkill1 Thanks! I don't really dislike any of those songs, they were just the most mediocre of the Zeppelin catalogue, I don't think they ever released anything bad.
I agree about “Your Time,” “Hot Dog,” and some others, but “Hots on for Nowhere” is a very cool tune. I love how Page builds the guitar and adds a different little element in each verse. It was also used to great effect in the “Dogtown & Z Boys” documentary. I once saw a female Zep tribute band do a killer version of that live.
@@lyndoncmp5751 Same here. I'm surprised to see so many people are down on it. It's a rare moment of breezy, rocking fun on an album that has a lot of moments of drudgery.
In Through the Outhouse: Side A: 1. Tea for One 2. Dazed and Confused 3. Hats Off to (Roy) Harper 4. I'm Gonna Crawl Side B: 1. You Shook Me 2. The Lemon Song 3. Fool in the Rain 4. I Can't Quit You Baby
My album title: Pheasants Side A: 1. Hot Dog 2. Tea for One 3. The Crunge 4. I Can’t Quit You Baby Side B: 1. Poor Tom 2. Hots on for Nowhere 3. Hats Off (for Roy Harper) 4. The Battle of Evermore
I'd agree with most of these ("Hot Dog" features a painfully sloppy performance from Page, showing how far the mighty had fallen and the Roy Harper homage is inessential Zep for sure). However I've always enjoyed the Zeppi-fied James Brown pastiche of "The Crunge" (leave it to these guys do a funk jam with an odd-time-signature) and "Since I've Been Loving You" has a stunning turn-around section which completely lifts it out of ordinary blues and puts it into classic status IMO.
The Lemon Song is awesome. Have you heard JPJ’s bass line? And Since I’ve Been Loving you is amazing too. Lol. To each their own I suppose. The Crunge and Hats off to Roy Harper are the only Zeppelin songs I’m not that big on. They’re still decent but nothing special.
You guys are surprisingly pleasant so far. Marco is scared to come over here and look. I did a podcast episode on bands with the angriest fans and I'm pretty sure I included us Zep freaks.
Since I’ve Been Lovin You?! Blasphemy haha. I know you’re not into the slow blues tunes by ANY band....I’ve heard you blast Deep Purples Mistreated many times lol
Actually guys one band did do this in 1970 It was a compilation album an RCA records released what was called the worst of Jefferson airplane But just trying to have some fun at everybody's expense it was all their greatest stuff Plus more up to that point
i’ve always thought a that 2/3 songs of ‘presence’ go on a little longer than necessary and adding a 8 th song might of made a difference☝🏻personally i luv the band so much i couldn’t fill an album ironically i could only release a single four sticks/hats of to harper 😊
Very good show as always. Personally I'm not sure if I would be able to choose 10. The ones I would not include from your choices are Since I've been lovin' you, South Bound Saurez and Your Time is gonna come. One song that has always bothered me is Tea For No One. I love Since I've Been Lovin' You but on this one they seem to be self-plagiarizing themselves, I feel like Robert Plant and Jimmy Page are more concerned with trying to keep it from being too obvious rather than writing a great song. But this is a very interesting exercise.
I'm surprised none of Coda was picked for this list. The whole album is like vol. 2 to this one, lol. Dyer Maker and Fool in the rain as the worst Zep songs, indisputably. I still can't understand why people find them appealing. FYI, Since I've Been Loving You is probably the song that most female Zep fans love. It's sexy, they say (shrugs shoulders). Having said this, this would be my Zep bad album: A 1. Dyer Maker 2. Hats off to (Roy Harper) 3. Born y aur stomp 4. Boogie with Stu {an attempt to an Exile on Main St. Song? Ugh, leave that to the Stones} 5. Battle of Evermore {I never liked the screeching vocals everyone's so fascinated with} B 1. Fool in the Rain 2. Royal Orleans 3. Nobody's fault but mine 4. Moby Dick 5. Trampled Under Foot {My interest for this song died quickly, it's so damn repetitive and lasts forever, it's like a Chemical Brothers song}.
Mine are 1. Carouselumbra. 2. All Of My Love 3. Southbound Suarez. 4. Hats Off To Harper 5. The Crunge. 6. Dyer Maker. 7. Fool in The Rain 8. Hot Dog 9. Moby Dick 10. Candystore Rock
I can only disagree with Candy Store Rock - listen to the drumming. Actually, instead of listening to all of Page's overdubbed guitars on Presence, listen to Bonzo's drumming throughout. His spectacular, album-length drumming performance on Presence is sorely underappreciated.
I understand all the choices here except for "Since I've Been Loving You." Even if it is a Moby Grape rip-off, they do a fantastic job with it. One of the highlights of Zeppelin III in my view. I also think "South Bound Suarez" is pretty good.
I agreed with alot of their pick . The ones i didnt agree with is Since ive been lovin you and candy store rock. And, for me, In through the out door is by far my worst zep lp.
The channel is called the Contrarians...so here's my five: 1. Battle of Evermore 2. Dyer Maker 3. All My Love 4. Fool in the Rain 5. The Crunge PS...love Zeppelin's slow blues stuff!
Not alot of bad Zeppelin songs for me to choose from so mine turns out to be an ep: 1. The Crunge 2. Black Dog 3. You Shook Me 4. Hot Dog 5. I Can't Quit You Baby
I'm guessing that tracks off 'Coda' didn't qualify...?? The first time I heard 'Hot dog' was when they played it live in 1979, we're all looking at each going 'wtf'.... Zep are going to the Grand Ole Opry...haha!
You guys hit on alot of the songs I'd pick, however I'm one of the few people that actually likes Hot Dog lol So here would be my picks, in gonna call it Led Zeppelin: Bore Side One: 1. Since I've Been Loving You 2. The Lemon Song 3. Nobody's Fault But Mine 4. Living Loving Maid 5. The Crunge Side Two: 1. Candy Store Rock 2. For Your Life 3. Your Time Is Gonna Come 4. Tea For One 5. Hats Off To (Roy) Harper Some of these songs I do in fact like but these are my least favorites... and it's very Presence heavy lol
@@tommyaddison6539 Don't share your enthusiasm for Tea for One. It's a cheap knockoff of SIBLY, which I think is one of Zep's 5 or 6 greatest songs at worst.
1) Don't care for the drum solo mash-up on the 1990 box set. Not that Bonzo's drum solos are bad at all, but there are oodles of bootlegs out there with much better ones. 2) and 3) I don't think the '90's discoveries "Baby Come On Home" from the second box set and "The Girl I Love" from the BBC Sessions add anything. (The one post-Coda gem is "Traveling Riverside Blues" though which is absolutely a top 20 Zep song for me.) And the fourth and fifth songs on my bad side would be "Hot Dog" and "The Crunge" which they clearly didn't take seriously and never played live.
Can't argue much here. Although I do love the early blues influence. Having said that, I was shocked when Since I've Been Loving You came up. LOL. I would swap that with Black Mountain Side. Dreadful!
Pretty much agree with both sides. I think SIBLY feels out of place on LZ III, which along with PG is my favourite album, the flaws are that song and Hats Off…should’ve left those off added something from PG and Coda that was recorded at the time. They had much better options for what was essentially their folk record.
I suggested "Hot Dog" once and got crucified, LOL. Mind you its a fun Robert Plant rockabilly tune that would have been great for one of his solo albums, but its not classic LZ.
I was liking the choices on this album until Martin chose my favorite Zeppelin song, "Since I've Been Loving You." I'll give him a pass because it's the first time in this series he actually picked my favorite song from the band chosen for this.
Lol, I don't know what to say: 1st guy : 👍 2nd guy: 🥴 Who places, 'Since I've been loving you' and ' Your time is gonna come' as Zeppelin's worst songs?
First off, I LOVE "The Crunge"! This argument always baffles me. And look, I'm a longstanding white boy, but I gotta say, you white boys just don't get it. Try to work some badass analog 60s/70s funk into your lives. Get up and move! Feel it in your bones-ah!! Heh. Seriously, I think there's a bit too much of this "Well, Louder Sound says.." and whoever's list of worst whatever says. If you were there at the time, you say it yourself. And that's your guide. But I get it with age and needing to reference that stuff. maybe you would possibly feel it and know it better otherwise. But it's cool and everyone's got their opinion. Just make sure it's truly yours and not some list maker's. Obviously, "The Crunge" is a nod to James Brown and his classic "Fellas, can ya take me to the bridge?" It's always been a fantastic, "cool, let's do this" song to me (as is "Royal Orleans," from Presence for similar reasons) Gotta say, I'm flat out "shocked" that D'YER MAK'ER is not on this Worst Of album. Now.... here ya go. Talk about a song that makes me feel like I need a DRAMAMINE. Sheesh... Of the other songs on this LP that you guys have made up, I should say that I like "SOUTH BOUND SUAREZ" quite a bit (interesting and playful good track to me...liked it from the jump in '79) and "THE LEMON SONG," for me, is an excellent below-the-belt grinder with a brilliant, more unique riff from Jimmy, and fantastic bass lines from JPJ. If you're gonna write a song about sex, this is the way to do it. The uniqueness of the riff (notcher standard blues chords), almost drives home the more salacious aspects of this number on its own. I also do like "HOTS ON FOR NOWHERE" (works for me) It's got that throwaway quality, I grant you that, but it's frivolous nature, I think, makes it quite enjoyable. And I'll always adore Jimmy's lazy drunken riff of FOR YOUR LIFE (although, okay, I get it "as a song"), but maybe that's the point. Also, I might not have appreciated it as a kid (I would've more than likely said the same things as Martin...then), but "Your Time Is Gonna Come" (although yes, it does have a certain 60's vibe...did come out in the 60s though, right?), has become more of a classic to me. Anyway, I suppose the rest of it is understandable. HOTRH is just kind of a mess, authentically so or not...its just "mush-mouth" stuff. "HOT DOG" has always been low hanging fruit. * I will say this though, Martin: Jimmy's "stutter" riff is the one thing I really LIKE about that song. To me, it puts the humor into it. And I'm thinking he could've been doing that more intentionally for that effect. Finally, I'm SO with MARTIN about *Side One of LZIII* And I would easily call that my "all time favorite Led Zeppelin album side"....if not for "Since You've Been Gone". That song just started to bore the shit out of me after a while. You know, I liked JP's great blues soloing as a young aspiring player, but man, the 'song itself' just became a slog. Other than that though, SIDE ONE of Led Zeppelin III is just flat out STELLAR, and continues to remain fresh and uniquely exciting to this day! Immigrant Song Friends Celebration Day Out On The Tiles BRILLIANT!! If I could only move "That's the Way" or "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" into SYBG's place, it might be my favorite album side of all time! - Right up there with side 1's of "Aladdin Sane" and "Highway To Hell" ⚡ *I'm not going to impose on G-Pole. That's perfect as a side starter for 2.
Side A I can't quit you baby Hats off to (Roy)Harper Four sticks The crunge Candy store rock Side B For your life Tea for one South bound saurez Carouselambra I'm gonna crawl
@@tigotigoify I did just like you!!! And if you don't like the criticism, don't post it!! And I'll give my opinion on whatever whenever I want. I disagree it w/what you said so deal it like a grownup!!
I'm willing to bet you can count on one hand the number of people on planet Earth who think "Since I've Been Loving You" is one of the worst Led Zeppelin songs.
Led Zeppelin’s ‘bad’ songs have more musical value than most other bands better songs. If you learn the guitar or drums from Zeppelin’s bad songs you will be a better musician than the same old songs from most other bands. Just the description of the music in the bad songs listed here are more diverse and interesting than most other bands. Since I’ve been loving you is a masterpiece. Better than anything Aerosmith ever did.
I loved Led Zeppelin before I ever heard them, funny as that sounds. The way they had built up in my mind by the end of 1979, out there in Nigeria, I would have been amazed if I'd disliked their music. The disappointment would have registered across West Africa ! And even though the debut {which I had been _desperate_ to hear, some 11 months before I actually did} and "Presence" were the last ones I did hear {by October 1980} and neither impressed me initially {I love 'em both now}, Zeppelin are not a flawless band. There were songs all along the way that I either flat-out disliked or was kind of "meh" about. I am not a fan of the live album "The Song Remains the same." With the exception of the brilliant "Poor Tom" {why, oh why was this not included on Zep III or "Graffiti" ?} I think "Coda" is flat beer. So my "Worst of" would be called "Led Zeppelin Poo" and the cover would the same as the second album but instead of the zeppelin would be a huge turd and the band would be dressed in those protective hazmat suits ! It wouldn't be a vinyl record, it would be a CD with these tracks: Walter's Walk I Can't Quit You Babe {debut} Wearing and Tearing Hats off to Harper {III} Bonzo's Montreux The Lemon Song {II} Darlene Going to California {IV} Ozone Baby D'yer Mak'er ? {HOH} Candy Store Rock {Presence} I'm Gonna Crawl {ITTOD} I have spent many years laughing when "D'yer Mak'er" is described as reggae. It really isn't. and while I applaud the band for trying it out, it's an awful song. English musicins have an affinity with early reggae that many Americans, Canadians and Australians have just never got and while there is the flavouring of reggae {among other things} in the song, it is laughable to many Black people to describe it as reggae. Even Jimmy Page wouldn't go that far ! As for "Candy Sore Rock", believe it or not, it has more of an affinity with "D'yer Mak'er" than many have ever acknowledged. But it's still beyond garbage. I wouldn't piss on that song if it was on fire. 🔥 I barely tolerated "I can't quit you Babe" for 15 years and then I just came clean and admitted that I did not like the song and was no more going to torture myself. I haven't heard it since the early years of this century. My life has been wonderful ! And I never really liked "I'm gonna crawl." In through the out door was only the 3rd Zeppelin album I heard so I didn't have all the baggage to consider and I could gauge the album purely on the songs and whether I liked them. And although it's the least good of the original run {not including Coda}, I dig the album and rate it highly. But "I'm gonna crawl" was always a song that was an anti-climax, where my thoughts would wander. I must stress that I like Hats off to Harper, The Lemon Song and Going To California. I just regard them as among Zeppelin's weaker material. I'm almost tempted to include "Trampled Underfoot" and "Achilles' Last Stand" to "Led Zeppelin Poo" as they are songs that I like but only just. Also, I didn't want some Zep diehards to discover my ip address and make it easy for me to die !! 😂
Sweet; totally dig everything you guys do but you two together is definitely my favorite! I feel sometimes there is to many people voicing their opinion! Sorry just my two cents☺️!
@@leswadley6792 Fair enough. But isn't that the point of the shows ? A few guys voice their opinion on a topic we watchers have feelings about. Then we make comments afterwards.
I love Led Zeppelin and they're my 2nd favorite band but, like most bands, they have clunkers too: SIDE ONE: 1. Hot Dog (By far the dumbest, most annoying Zeppelin song. I always skip it!!) 2. The Crunge (I call it The Cringe! The only reason I hate this less than Hot Dog is because it's so bad that it's almost good. I agree w/whoever said that Robert's voice is the problem. The musicianship isn't bad, but they've done better. Trampled Under Foot is a far superior funk song!) 3. Hats Off to Roy Harper (I can't decipher that mess even if I tried!! It should've been on the B-Side of Immigrant Song instead of Hey, Hey, What Can I Do? That and Immigrant Song would give me two good reasons to listen to Led Zeppelin III.) 4. Thank You (I know Robert Plant wrote this for his wife, Maureen. He also wrote What Is And What Should Never Be for his sister-in-law and ex-girlfriend, Shirley. I think Shirley got the better end of that deal!) 5. Candy Store Rock (It's mildly entertaining but I don't listen to Zeppelin to be mildly entertained!) SIDE TWO: 1. Moby Dick (Yes, John Bonham is a good drummer but, as the song drags on, I get bored!) 2. Dancing Days (This song has two things going for it: The guitar riff and it comes after one of the worst Zeppelin songs ever!!) 3. Living Loving Maid (I heard Jimmy Page hates this song and I don't blame him. It's unremarkable.) 4. Royal Orleans (I forget it after I hear it.) 5. Hots on for Nowhere (See Royal Orleans.)
I completely disagree with "Dancing Days." I played it for years in a cover band and always enjoyed it- and it was always a crowd pleaser. Page's guitar parts are interesting and not easy to execute.
@@AbbeyRoadkill1 No, I agree w/the guitar parts. It's the only part of the song I like. Otherwise, I think it's a bit silly. I don't hate it but, out of all the Zeppelin songs recorded, it would go at the bottom for me.
On Marco's side, I agree with "Candy store rock." I personally think that this is by far the worst song in the Zeppelin catalog. It's a horrendously hopeless piece of mouldy shit and I personally hope I never hear it again. If I were a spy captured by the enemy, I'd be easily broken if they put me in a room and made me listen to this over and over. I'd tell them anything they wanted to know ! I also agree with "Hats off to (Roy) Harper" ~ even though I actually like the song ~ just. The irony of the song is that it is {along with the start and end of "Bring it on home"} the most authentic blues Zeppelin ever did. Whereas all their other blues things are really just "White boy aping the blues but moving further out" stints, "Harper" and "Home" are attempts to actually sound just like authentic blues. And they should give one an indication of why the blues never caught on as mass popular music, even when White guys tried to do it. I do remember when I first heard "Harper", it occurred to me that lyricallly at least, that's where much of "Custard Pie" came from. So it has _some_ use ! I can understand "South Bound Saurez" and "Hot Dog" being there, but I really like both songs. They may not be upper echelon Zeppelin, but they're still groovy little crackers. I've long thought that you could easily cross-cut and fuse "Hot Dog" with the Beatles "Act Naturally." At any point of either song, you can dive seemlessly into the other and they fit beautifully. "The Crunge" is a great song as far as I'm concerned. By the time Zeppelin got to "Houses of the Holy" their original blueprint {through the previous 2 albums} had reasserted itself and so variety and freshness was once again the order of the day. So "The Crunge" made abundant sense. As a Black Englishman, I appreciate the humour, both musical and lyrical and I think the song was actually pretty advanced for them.
The worst Zeppelin songs are Hats off to Roy Harper and Hot Dog. I must be in the minority but I never minded The Crunge and Dyer Maker. I love Since I've been loving you. And Jefferson Airplane released an album called The Worst of JA
Side one just about perfect, side two you're stretching. Maybe with LZ it should only be an EP. Impossible task anyway as they are only competing with themselves - no band can touch them. I've had my LZ ranking up for a while now: ua-cam.com/play/PLBb7xnL3OmJOwCXVyxkoQTU9IN3BxdYI1.html
"You Shook Me" was a turgid slog when The Jeff Beck Group did it. Then LZ ripped it off but made it even longer of a turgid slog. "Hot Dog" is a disgrace. "The Crunge" and "Hats Off to Harper" are unlistenable. "Fool in the Rain" and "Southbound Suarez" - horrid crap that did not belong on a Zep album. "The Lemon Song" is embarassing and awful. "You're Time is Gonna Come" is boring AF. "Candy Store Rock" is the definition of filler. "Trampled Underfoot" one mediocre riff that goes on and on and on. "D'yer Maker" annoying AF. Man, they did have a lot of bad tunes!

Let’s put it this way, if Zeppelin was playing a concert and this was their setlist I’d still be camping out for tickets.
Since I’ve Been Lovin You is a masterpiece. The best tune on Zep 3 IMO.
Their best blues song!
Martin built a great side of a Led Zeppelin album. Every one of his picks are actually great songs.
The Crunge is the only "bad" Zep song and it's not even bad compared to most other bands. The rhythm section is phenomenal on it.
I agree. I think Robert’s vocals gets a bit annoying by the end but it’s still a decent tune.

Here is my grading of the "bad" LZ songs:
The Crunge - 8
Hot Dog - 3 (this one really deserves to be on this album)
Candy Store Rock - 5
Hats Off to (Roy) Harper - 6
South Bound Saurez - 8
Your Time Is Gonna Come - 7
The Lemon Song - 5
Since I've Been Loving You - 9 (my favorite blues by LZ)
For Your Life - 6
Hots On For Nowhere - 5
It makes an average 6.2 - pretty decent
It's called In Through The Outdoor
Nobody's Fault But Theirs :
Side A :
1 - D'yer Mak'er
2 - Hot Dog
3 - Royal Orleans
4 - Hots On For Nowhere
Side B:
1 - Hats Off To (Roy) Harper
2 - South Bound Saurez
3 - The Crunge
4 - Tea For One
That’s a great title.
@@SomeSong2 Thanks, I was also thinking of calling it Your Time Is Gonna Be Wasted.
Finally, someone who picked all mediocre songs! Good job, even though I slightly disagree with "South Bound Suarez." I kinda like that one.
Hots On For Nowhere is my fave song on Presence.
@@lyndoncmp5751 Same here. I'm surprised to see so many people are down on it. It's a rare moment of breezy, rocking fun on an album that has a lot of moments of drudgery.

Exactly. Its unlike anything Zeppelin ever did so it sounds fresh and interesting compared to the more staid other stuff on there.
In Through the Outhouse:
Side A:
1. Tea for One
2. Dazed and Confused
3. Hats Off to (Roy) Harper
4. I'm Gonna Crawl
Side B:
1. You Shook Me
2. The Lemon Song
3. Fool in the Rain
4. I Can't Quit You Baby
My album title: Pheasants
Side A:
1. Hot Dog
2. Tea for One
3. The Crunge
4. I Can’t Quit You Baby
Side B:
1. Poor Tom
2. Hots on for Nowhere
3. Hats Off (for Roy Harper)
4. The Battle of Evermore
Scott for the win. Pheasants. Brilliant.
My proudest accomplishment in some time.
I was agreeing with you right down the line until the last song. "Battle of Evermore" is fantastic.
I'd agree with most of these ("Hot Dog" features a painfully sloppy performance from Page, showing how far the mighty had fallen and the Roy Harper homage is inessential Zep for sure). However I've always enjoyed the Zeppi-fied James Brown pastiche of "The Crunge" (leave it to these guys do a funk jam with an odd-time-signature) and "Since I've Been Loving You" has a stunning turn-around section which completely lifts it out of ordinary blues and puts it into classic status IMO.
lol, Hot dog is one of my favourite riffs and solos from page. The tone is killer and its just a laugh . But I get it
The Lemon Song is awesome. Have you heard JPJ’s bass line? And Since I’ve Been Loving you is amazing too. Lol. To each their own I suppose.
The Crunge and Hats off to Roy Harper are the only Zeppelin songs I’m not that big on. They’re still decent but nothing special.
I must say that The Lemon Song is a really good song.
You guys are surprisingly pleasant so far. Marco is scared to come over here and look. I did a podcast episode on bands with the angriest fans and I'm pretty sure I included us Zep freaks.
Zep is my favorite band of all time, so I know this will draw some ire from me haha. About to watch
Since I’ve Been Lovin You?! Blasphemy haha. I know you’re not into the slow blues tunes by ANY band....I’ve heard you blast Deep Purples Mistreated many times lol
You should a building a good Led Zeppelin album show.
Actually guys one band did do this in 1970
It was a compilation album an RCA records released what was called the worst of Jefferson airplane
But just trying to have some fun at everybody's expense it was all their greatest stuff Plus more up to that point
Livin" Lovin 'Maid, Moby Dick and D'Yer Maker.
Hats off for Roy i think is awesome demented Delta blues!Neat tune
Yes...I dig Hats Off!
i’ve always thought a that 2/3 songs of ‘presence’ go on a little longer than necessary and adding a 8 th song might of made a difference☝🏻personally i luv the band so much i couldn’t fill an album ironically i could only release a single four sticks/hats of to harper 😊
I agree with Tea For One.
Since I’ve been loving you is on here??????? That’s ridiculous. I love Martin but come on man!
I'm probably in the minority but I actually like listening to "Hot Dog" and "Southbound Suarez."
I dig The Crunge, mostly because of Bonham’s unusual odd time groove.
Yeah it’s obvious that neither of these two are musicians. There’s a lot to appreciate.
@@bodowen Martin is/was a drummer, but to each their own I suppose. 🤷🏻♂
Having said this, this would be my Zep bad album:
A
1. Dyer Maker
2. Hats off to (Roy Harper)
3. Born y aur stomp
4. Boogie with Stu {an attempt to an Exile on Main St. Song? Ugh, leave that to the Stones}
5. Battle of Evermore {I never liked the screeching vocals everyone's so fascinated with}
B
1. Fool in the Rain
2. Royal Orleans
3. Nobody's fault but mine
4. Moby Dick
5. Trampled Under Foot {My interest for this song died quickly, it's so damn repetitive and lasts forever, it's like a Chemical Brothers song}.
Mine are 1. Carouselumbra. 2. All Of My Love 3. Southbound Suarez. 4. Hats Off To Harper 5. The Crunge. 6. Dyer Maker. 7. Fool in The Rain 8. Hot Dog 9. Moby Dick 10. Candystore Rock
I assume you're not a fan of Carribean music or ITTOD?! I'm w/you on songs 4 & 5 and 8 - 10.
I can only disagree with Candy Store Rock - listen to the drumming. Actually, instead of listening to all of Page's overdubbed guitars on Presence, listen to Bonzo's drumming throughout. His spectacular, album-length drumming performance on Presence is sorely underappreciated.
Yeah, but great drumming can't save a shitty song.
I would swap D’yer Mak’er for Southbound Suarez and I would be in total agreement.
Such a contrarian thing to do to leave out D´yer Mak´er from this list of ten Zeppelin stinkers.
The channel is called the Contrarians...so here's my five:
1. Battle of Evermore
2. Dyer Maker
3. All My Love
4. Fool in the Rain
5. The Crunge
PS...love Zeppelin's slow blues stuff!
Man, I disagree w/every song on this list except The Cringe!
Battle of Evermore? lol
second dude has straight lost his mind! haha.
since I've been loving you is amazing
lemon song also great
Not alot of bad Zeppelin songs for me to choose from so mine turns out to be an ep:
1. The Crunge
2. Black Dog
3. You Shook Me
4. Hot Dog
5. I Can't Quit You Baby
I'm guessing that tracks off 'Coda' didn't qualify...??
The first time I heard 'Hot dog' was when they played it live in 1979, we're all looking at each going 'wtf'.... Zep are going to the Grand Ole Opry...haha!
there was a worst of the jefferson airplane
You guys hit on alot of the songs I'd pick, however I'm one of the few people that actually likes Hot Dog lol

Led Zeppelin: Bore
Side One:
1. Since I've Been Loving You
2. The Lemon Song
3. Nobody's Fault But Mine
4. Living Loving Maid
5. The Crunge
Side Two:
1. Candy Store Rock
2. For Your Life
3. Your Time Is Gonna Come
4. Tea For One
5. Hats Off To (Roy) Harper
Some of these songs I do in fact like but these are my least favorites... and it's very Presence heavy lol
You lose all credibility by putting SInce I've Been Loving You on your album, much less as the lead track.
I never knew how disliked SIBLY is by so many fans....it’s always been a masterpiece to me. And Tea for One is a GREAT track
@@tommyaddison6539 Don't share your enthusiasm for Tea for One. It's a cheap knockoff of SIBLY, which I think is one of Zep's 5 or 6 greatest songs at worst.
@@leepassmore7032 Fair enough. I like the vibe of it and the vocals about the isolation Plant was feeling at the time.
Nobody's Fault But Mine? Really?! It's one of my favorite Zeppelin songs! I like it far better than Achilles Last Stand!
Roy Harper sang on pink floyd
Martin would you rather hear Tea for Two or Tea for One?
I love "Your Time Is Gonna Come", otherwise I have no problem with this list!
Presence is the worst they did. Achillies is 7 minutes too long and drags on to much and too much blues the rest of the album.
I suggested "Hot Dog" once and got crucified, LOL. Mind you its a fun Robert Plant rockabilly tune that would have been great for one of his solo albums, but its not classic LZ.
A contrarian view to the Contrarians, Presence kicks mighty ASS!!! 🤪
I was liking the choices on this album until Martin chose my favorite Zeppelin song, "Since I've Been Loving You."
I'll give him a pass because it's the first time in this series he actually picked my favorite song from the band chosen for this.
Lol, I don't know what to say:
1st guy : 👍
2nd guy: 🥴
Who places, 'Since I've been loving you' and ' Your time is gonna come' as Zeppelin's worst songs?
Obviously, "The Crunge" is a nod to James Brown and his classic "Fellas, can ya take me to the bridge?"
It's always been a fantastic, "cool, let's do this" song to me (as is "Royal Orleans," from Presence for similar reasons)
Gotta say, I'm flat out "shocked" that D'YER MAK'ER is not on this Worst Of album. Now....
Immigrant Song
Friends
Celebration Day
Out On The Tiles
BRILLIANT!!
If I could only move "That's the Way" or "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" into SYBG's place, it might be my favorite album side of all time! - Right up there with side 1's of "Aladdin Sane" and "Highway To Hell"

I'm willing to bet you can count on one hand the number of people on planet Earth who think "Since I've Been Loving You" is one of the worst Led Zeppelin songs.
I'm drawing a blank.
No Germaker?
It wouldn't be a vinyl record, it would be a CD with these tracks:
Walter's Walk
I Can't Quit You Babe {debut}
Wearing and Tearing
Hats off to Harper {III}
Bonzo's Montreux
The Lemon Song {II}
Darlene
Going to California {IV}
Ozone Baby
D'yer Mak'er ? {HOH}
Candy Store Rock {Presence}
I'm Gonna Crawl {ITTOD}
I have spent many years laughing when "D'yer Mak'er" is described as reggae.
I barely tolerated "I can't quit you Babe" for 15 years and then I just came clean and admitted that I did not like the song and was no more going to torture myself.

Only one bad song for me from my all time favorite band Led Zeppelin and that is Hats Off To (Roy) Harper.
Since I've been loving you ?
seems like coda material should've made this list
I love Led Zeppelin and they're my 2nd favorite band but, like most bands, they have clunkers too:
SIDE ONE:
1. Hot Dog (By far the dumbest, most annoying Zeppelin song. I always skip it!!)
2. The Crunge (I call it The Cringe! The only reason I hate this less than Hot Dog is because it's so bad that it's almost good. I agree w/whoever said that Robert's voice is the problem. The musicianship isn't bad, but they've done better. Trampled Under Foot is a far superior funk song!)
3. Hats Off to Roy Harper (I can't decipher that mess even if I tried!! It should've been on the B-Side of Immigrant Song instead of Hey, Hey, What Can I Do? That and Immigrant Song would give me two good reasons to listen to Led Zeppelin III.)
4. Thank You (I know Robert Plant wrote this for his wife, Maureen. He also wrote What Is And What Should Never Be for his sister-in-law and ex-girlfriend, Shirley. I think Shirley got the better end of that deal!)
5. Candy Store Rock (It's mildly entertaining but I don't listen to Zeppelin to be mildly entertained!)
SIDE TWO:
1. Moby Dick (Yes, John Bonham is a good drummer but, as the song drags on, I get bored!)
2. Dancing Days (This song has two things going for it: The guitar riff and it comes after one of the worst Zeppelin songs ever!!)
3. Living Loving Maid (I heard Jimmy Page hates this song and I don't blame him. It's unremarkable.)
4. Royal Orleans (I forget it after I hear it.)
Put dancing days is unforgivable😓
The “Worst” of the Jefferson Airplane
The Lemon Song and since I've been loving you or
The only Zep song I ever have the urge to skip is Royal Orleans (the lyrics are hilarious though)
Wow!Achilles wouldn't stand for this album at all
I'm a big Zep fan.The only song of theirs that I really don't like is D'Yermaker.
You guys never mentioned that The Crunge is a James Brown knock-off that sounds like shit's and giggles time
I never got Hat's Off To Roy Harper. After hearing his music, none of it sounds like that mess.
Also thinking Tle Lemon Song; the innuendo is over the top! Battle of Evermore is annoying and doesn’t go anywhere
The worst Zeppelin songs are Hats off to Roy Harper and Hot Dog. I must be in the minority but I never minded The Crunge and Dyer Maker.
I love Since I've been loving you.
And Jefferson Airplane released an album called The Worst of JA
Oh dear Martin. I guess you’ve called yourself a “contrarian” for a reason
915 spot on terrible
Zeppelin already built a bad album. It's called Coda.
The Crunge by leaps and bounds. Awkward and grating. I always thought they spelled it wrong.
D´Yer and Maker is in my opinion the worst Led Zeppelin song.
Martin is always whack. whatever.
