Sample Midi Dump takes about 30-40sec per tranfer.Sometimes less time depending on the sample size. The sound has to be mono! Its faster than you problally think! Its usable when you have no other option to transfer sounds!
Midi switch are MIDI CC numbers that you can assign the functions to a external device like Midi keyboard . The note variationalso has that feature to. I assign NV to a modwheel on my midi keyboard..
The 4000 is a beast, definitely! ..it's not really 'a fair fight', because there is 20 years between them.. but, the 4000 is 24bit/96kHz.. so it just whipped the Live2 in terms of sample rate. The Sequencer functions are much more comprehensive than the Live2 (there's just more editing options available, better MIDI implementation / options). However, the Live2 has a 'Touch Screen', better 'sound browsing/audition functions' and has modern integration with computers, plugins, etc.. the thing I think that is most innovative on these new-gen MPCs is the CV/Gate connectivity. Having said that.. I'm not a fan of the onboard Analog-to-Digital converters onboard these new-gens.. they could've done so much better in that department. Some people argue the 4000 is too clean, but I thinks that's also it's strength, less 'footprint' ..if I sample my ASR or SP1200 into my 4000.. then it plays it back sounding 'like' an ASR or an SP1200 👍🏼

I sure wish this had been out before I sold my excellent condition XL. The workflow felt so archaic but this would've helped I'm sure.
