The Nsburg Girl Scouts being a heavily armed paramilitary organization will never not be funny.
I saw a tiktok video of some armed forces person joking about going on official orders to pick up girl scout cookies and all I could think of the entire video was the Nsburg girl scouts.
I enjoy that both Night Vale and Nsburg have militias of highly dangerous children.
The Che Guevera Girlscouts poster made me start dying laughing at work when i saw the thumbnail

I had feelings that they might build to *some* form of RT3 getting removed from office in the final episode, but a) they were an episode early, and 2) I never expected a MILITARY OVERTHROW (let's be honest - the Nsburg Girl Scouts ARE it's mustered soldiery; they're better organized and regulated than some nations' regular military). I guess with this entire episode involved with the actual deposing, we'll need the next episode to 'clew up loose ends' and re-establish municipal government for Nsburg.
And what happens NEXT will decide whether this remains just a "coup" (a noun referencing an event; best definition is "a takeover of one group by another"...for now), or becomes a "coup d'etat" (takeover of the established *government*, with replacement of merely the top person/people) or even a "revolution" (overthrow of the whole existing government by a group that forms a different government). If the Girl Scouts put the entire Town Council out of office and replace them with members from their ranks, for example, they would be said to 'form a junta to rule Nsburg' (proper noun for a group: "the ruling council of a military dictatorship")
In any case, exciting times for Nsburg and obviously more of the same in the future!
I had a genuinely awful day and cried in relief over this coming out.

Finally, Dick Therpston learns the lesson that Machiavelli was trying to teach. Now we see if Ralph and the rest of the Secret Pipesmen are willing to pay his ransom or not, or if the Girl Scouts will earn their badges in guillotine construction.
From what A-Train was saying, maybe the town will be run by The Girl Scouts Emergency Municipal Ruling Council (making that a "junta")?

I am so glad I've stuck with Qwerpline since episode 1, and now I finally get to hear the Girl Scouts actually living up to their reputation, instead of just as an after-the-fact news item. Been waiting for that for a loooong time.

The fact that they are nevertheless constrained by normal girl scout things like parental permission slips is a really killer joke too.

This was a great episode; excellent writing, and the sound effects really brought it to life.
With apologies for diverging into a less cheerful topic: it's a little sad that in the time between when this was recorded and when it aired, the goalposts may have shifted a bit on the meaning of "European pre-war"

I support the Girl Scouts getting the day off school tomorrow to recover from their injuries. This way Nsburg has time to determine a new mayor without the need for martial law.
Honestly I suspect it's only the relative all ages nature of the series that's kept Dick Thurpston from getting hung up shirtless by his ankles like Mussolini.

I looked it up: a coup is the act of seizing power by force (as was witnessed), while a junta is government by a council of military leaders (as may be about to happen)
Yeah, first is a noun referring to an event, while the second is a noun referring to a group, and who knows - maybe it's foreshadowing?
We might consider based on how Therpston got into power that this is a counter coup

My main criticism with this episode is it feels like a missed opportunity for a two parter in a face-off between the the Gril Scouts and the Pipesmen and other eclectic and ineffectual allies of Mayor Therpston.
I think the point was, Dick Therpston III didn't HAVE any allies - he'd alienated even his power base of the Secret Pipesmen in his violent classist elitism and contempt for virtually everyone who isn't him, based on his self-perceived station in society.
We need an Nsburg Girl Scouts shirt or at least a print.

Dunno where you're getting the PMC; a claim could be made for 'paramilitary' like a 'citizen's militia', but it's a municipally funded and regulated organization - heck the Nsberg Girl Scouts are better organized than some nations' regular military forces.
