Roosterfish are very common in baja! Our guide enjoys eating them along with his family, all of the fish was consumed. And yes they are a fish for fighting, especially fun on the end of a spear! Not a usually targeted fish but a fun and different variation and if someone is going to consume the meat I have no problem in harvesting it.
Great video! At 7:43, is that a riffe euro? looks like you're using 3 bands, right? are those 14 mm (9/16)? that gun capable of handling the recoil of those 3 bands? I'm considering to use that band set up in mi SS reef pro 130, but I'm not sure about the recoil. Thank you.
Im using three bands 14mm and have very minimal recoil. Part of the reason I love that gun so much is the power and ability to shoot one handed with little to no recoil. Took the rooster fish with it and an 80lb AJ
Dude… That was so rad. Man I wanna go to baja. YOU BROS KILLED IT. 102lb amber…. yeeeew! What length is the riffe? How long are the 9/16 bands, shaft thickness too? What length is the wong, shaft, and what size/width are the bands? How come you use those yellow bands? AWESOME!
Looks like you had a great dive trip. The school of AJ's was incredible. I have dove some of the same sites for pargo. Do did very well. Did the gun you found still work?
why the hell would you spear a roosterfish? That fish is purely a game fish for fighting, not killing and they aren't exactly common. Wahoo...yes = yummy

AWESOME!
Its a euro 130 with 3 bands, worked great for most fish but had trouble penetrating some of the larger pargo, plus the bent the shafts like toothpicks
Oh shit you found my sea sniper! Lol

Ya the gun still worked. A friend of the owner/operator lost it the week prior and had spent a few days on scuba trying to locate it with no success.
I love how u wrapped the line around that rock to secure a position
