- This month Influx heads to the coast to explore the roots of the mod scene and the enduring appeal of scooters, while we chat with Ally Barr and Eddie Crole, two veterans of the scene, to find out what has made scootering last.
Over on influx.co.uk we're looking at the history of Vespa and Lambretta, discovering more about the post-war origins of scootering, and hearing from Andy Gillard, editor of Scootering magazine, on what makes the scene so timeless.
Head to www.influx.co.uk to read the edition.

great vid . I understand when he says it never goes away. Had one when i was 19 for a couple of years. Just got another one and i am now 68 in those 60 tears of not owning one ,was always looking out every time i heard a two stroke engine. i am a custodian of a 1970 lambretta a love it
Definitely never goes away 😭a majority of my "going to sleep visions" are walking out my house in 87, and starting my T5, and remembering all the corners and gear changes, as i ride away into the Sussex countryside ❤️. I stupidly thought i had a GP 150 around 20 years ago from my dad, garage find, all working, a little "ratty" but all good. Dad was a mod in sixties, but an a#se!, had my rides around his estate, smiling like a Cheshire cat, and he promised 🙄.. to clean it up a bit, then it would be mine... 3 months later my sister informed me he'd sold it, haven't spoken since🤣I'm now reduced to going in for the odd competition, waiting on one atm, to win a T5 classic, fingers crossed. Great video, and will show my 19 year old son, who doesn't understand me and scooters at all 👌
Just bought one this year never had a bike in my late teens ,always loved the style of a Lambretta I am 57 now and loving it,happy scootering.
This place i live - the Isle of Wight will start filling up with 10s of thousands of scooters in the next week or so in time for our scooter weekend. I ride mine all year and always love the scooter rally and be in the majority for a change and have the whiff of 2 stroke everywhere :-)
I would love to own one again, as you say i'ts in the blood. I had a GP 125, 1971 the best scooter i ever owned. But the cost now is out of my reach, never mind great memories.
Great video; I had always wanted a scooter and Octobet 2018 I bought a GP200 and its great, the social scene is fantastic and getting on it and having a ride out with the guys is a great feeling.
Thanks for this. In my blood from the late 60s. Wish I'd kept my TV175. Skimmed head, polished ports, racing exhaust, reduced weight. One of the fastest in Bristol at the time. Happy days.
