Jerry would be proud!
She’s presenting the inner most structure of these songs in a very palpable way. When we have songs that play in our heads we’re recalling that body or building blocks of songs that we love so much. What a great job she’s doing highlighting how intricate the music really is. Thank you very much for this 🙏
It is great cause she's playing all the parts , fills and runs by herself !
Crazy right? She was even doing some of the percussion parts with her left hand on that bass clef!
I'l never forget Bruce Hornsby doing a little 2 minute piano solo Terrapin before a China>Rider with the newly formed (at the time) Other Ones in July of '98. I was hit by a wave of sadness, thinking that i would never hear this again like I used to. But i remember the Dr. Seuss quote: Don't be sad it's over, be glad it happened. And now over 20 years later, the music has survived, in others hands, and my Deadhead heart is glad. I sure wish Jer was here, of course. But, this really helps. From 1984-1995 I was in the concert halls with tens of thousands of others, searching for the sound. I find it here, and i am relieved.
It's not going anywhere any time soon. My children dance to The Dead.
Holly and Bruce are just amazing in their development of all grateful dead piano licks!
anyone ever find this show?
The emotional reaction that her interpretation and performance of Terrapin brought to me was priceless. What a gift.
20 mins of my life I would give up over and over again.
And here I thought nothing could match hearing Terrapin for the first time. This was like the closest thing to hearing the lost original, before the producer swapped in orchestra instruments. Just the band's music and your uncanny musical voice making it full and alive and shining. Your long cadenza at the end revisiting all the motifs is just perfect.
How could someone thumbs down this? Every time I start this video I become so entranced and cannot stop it.
Mike Ryan at 250:1, it's clearly an anomaly.

15:54 and I'm still here. Lol! I have company right now too. Here I sit, enjoying such beautiful music outside on an equally beautiful night.
This must be the Jack" o roses" bound for Terrapin TY so much.
This artist was standing outside in the cold night air (OK, the balmy night air, but still), close to midnight, as the Bob Weir show let out from the Fox Theater in Oakland on Saturday October 8, trying to drum up sales of her new album! She should be riding around in limos at that hour! Buy, people, buy! Support great talent, right here in our midst!
Grateful Dead fans in the audience show themselves at :34
as they should
Yes. In other words highly intelligent individuals
And singing “Terrapin!!” at 8:00
INSPIRATION
Chills all over.
I think I am in love!
I had the pleasure of hearing this piece first hand during Warren Haynes 28th Annual Christmas Jam this past December 10th, 2016. Warren had the brilliant idea to have Holley entertain the sold out crowd throughout the entire 8 hour show between sets. This she did with the utmost professional glee. I have to say, I looked as forward to the time between sets as I did to each act that played, just to see what Holley would play next. Holley Bowling made many of us very happy that evening.
She made this dead head extremely happy I'd go out to smoke before set ends so I could be back to see Holly much love she's simply brilliant
Terrapin was the first Dead song that hooked me. I studied classical music my whole childhood, and your piano arrangement gives true meaning to why I love the dead. When I hear Terrapin, this is what I hear. Very well done Ms. Holly. Thank you!
This girl is Amazing! The radio station i listen to has a show, The dead Zone and they opened it with Holly doing a solo piece. Simply amazing!
Beautiful music stands alone. It doesn't matter if the musician is playing their original pieces or if they're interpreting. The music itself matters. The fact that Holly can bring this particular song to light in a new way that is astounding in its own right is sublime. Terrapin Station will stand the test of time as will the Grateful Dead. It's not a joke that a lot of us talk about Mozart, Bach, Miles, Bill Evans, Jimmy Reed, Pig, Jerry and on and on as the great musical band in Heaven. We're fortunate that folks like Holly are around on this big blue marble delivering their own wonderful material, as well as these great interpretations. The music itself is what matters.
You play it perfect.
Brought tears to my eyes instantly. Beautifully done.
Same
Same.
Was at the XMAS Jam in Asheville, and can absolutely concur it was an emotional experience hearing Holly play. Incredible. Terrapin...Wow!! No words.
No words needed when this incredibly talented lady can make that piano hum!!!
The cadenza she creates as an outro of sorts, starting around 16:30, is very possibly the most gorgeous and amazing piano work I have ever heard. Ms. Bowling is a true master of her art. Bravissimo!!!
I am on the verge of tears....of joy. I, mean I had a crappy day, teaching HS got home grabbed a Longboard -out to the patio and discovered this....synchronicity #somuchtalent
I think a may have just fell in love

Holly - I preordered your Dead album for my mom (a piano/organ player for 50+ years) and she got it yesterday. She LOVES it! And she's not even a Dead fan. So well done! Thanks so much!
Holly, you are amazing! I saw you play eyes of the world with Greensky Bluegrass. You have the ability to turn a band that I would see at festivals into a band that I would follow around like a puppy dog. Much love and God bless you. Come play Port City Music Hall in Portland, Maine. We’d love to have you.

Beautiful, talented and knows great music. The Dead, Phish, Neil Young, Youngbloods, etc. I love her playing so much and I love her. Thanx for posting this.
Both brilliant and beautiful !
I didn't cry at my fathers funeral but this is so beautiful im all tore up. Thank you so much. I needed this
Wow... I love this!
It is so beautiful to see someone love this song as much as me!
Quelle Joie!!! To capture the intended complexity of an orchestral/symphonic approach to such an original sound as the Dead, on a single instrument, is simply incredible. I've never heard of you, but have been to 100+ shows, and have spent 20+ years playing Jerry on my es-355, but I will learn more about you Miss Bowling.....I'm intrigued and astonished. What an incredible accomplishment. I shall make others aware:)

Holly was looking forward to seeing you for the first time at the Peach festival.
Unfortunately, that didn’t happen.
Love this rendition, make my soul soar.
Hollly bowling me over. Such stependous renditions of my Grateful Dead faves!!! Woah! Woah! and Double Woah!
Fckn amazing- Love how musicians "feel" the music-. We feel as fans arbitrarily, can you imagine what it's like for the musician to hit the perfect notes---.? WOW. It's the only reason Jerry was sooooooo good-
The only reason?
I wonder what it feels like to be blessed with this much talent? Absolutely mesmerizing! Go Holly!
Unfrickin believable!
All the feelings
Holly is awesome.. SO inspiring to hear what she accomplishes with the transposing and capturing that live grateful dead feel
Holly, This rendition is absolutely amazing. It really showcases the beauty of this song. You did an incredible job. I'm hoping you can make it Southern California! Can't wait for Better Left Unsung to arrive!
Thanks so much Eric! I'll be in Southern California in Jan for a few shows - Jan 26 in LA, Jan 27 in SD, and Jan 29 in Santa Barbara. Hope to see ya there! And thanks for supporting the album, can't wait for you to hear it :-)
OMG! I am so impressed!!!
An excellent choice of material. "Terrapin Station' has been my all-time favorite GD song since it was released. Matter of fact, I saw them the first time live while the band was touring that album. The event ended up being one of Dick's Picks (#15).
Holly's playing blew me away. It's hard to play the piano, let alone play it that good. Holly's fingers on the keys are precise and imaginative. I am for sure to keep an eye on her from here on out. Should have a very successful career. Loved the video chip. Shot very well. Made for an excellent introductory to this brilliant young pianist.

I don't think I'm going out on too much of a limb to say that I'll bet she is the ONLY PERSON to have ever played the entire song, as played on the album, on a single instrument. This is absolutely amazing and beautiful.
Terrapin was not in my top 10 list of Dead songs, except for the version they played in the song' s debut on 2-26-77. That version has a lot in common with Holly's rendition here... Both are exquisite.
Looking forward to much more Holly!
She can sing and the energy resonates. Absolutely beautiful.
This is freaking awesome! Definitely going to catch you when you come to San Diego in Jan.
Seriously fabulous!!
I feel so fortunate that I have found your work. Looking forward to perhaps seeing you in concert. Thank you!
🥲❤Thank you very much, that was incredibly enjoyable! 🙏🕊️
This is really really well done! Love it!!!
Stunning. One of the most beautiful renditions recorded. She fricking NAILED the Terrapin Flyer section.

So empty, yet the sound is so full and bold at times. Marvelous rendition of this song. I can hear where the piano takes parts from all instruments. I love that. That's how I play guitar. Without limits and all-encompassing.
Brilliant!!
So Beautiful!

This is amazing!! You learned the entire suite. That is some serious time and dedication. I told my wife this morning that it would be really fun to play some music with you. She plays drums and I am a guitarist. We should start a band!! LOL!! I bet you get that all the time. It's a great compliment to get as a musician. Fantastic performance and arrangement!!
Fantastic performance in Asheville last night. Bravo!
Agreed! My first exposure to Holly.. Absolutely incredible
inspiringly beautiful. uplifting. touching.
To the editor: Thanks for the 'trails' I haven't seen anything like that since the last time I dropped in 1970!
This was fantastic. I'm a deadhead from way back as well as a praying believer in Jesus Christ. This song help me reach God in prayer. I felt peace and joy and tears listening to the beautiful interpretation.
