I've heard and played this piece countless times, and I have to say that this is by far the most engaging performance I've heard. Guerrier has such an incredibly sweet sound on a monstrous instrument to master and beautifully brings out the unique lyric qualities that must have inspired Haydn. After so long, one would think it difficult to produce such a fresh reading of this standard.

Me parece fantástico que un trompetista de este nivel se preocupe de ofrecer versiones frescas como esta . Un placer para los oidos de un Músico.

WOW! Dunno if anyone has shown such control of the keyed trumpet since Anton Weidinger! Even he might not have been that good. David sure does not shy away from a challenge. Congratulations.

Surprenante la qualité du son de cette trompette à clés, comparable à celle de son inventeur, Anton Weidinger.

Wonderfull this 'Trombe a Chiavi' This is why Verdi uses this instrument in stead of the 'Corno-pean' the ancaster instrument before the intruduction and the Saxon Cornette à pistons, introduced by Berlioz and Tchaikovsky.....The Cornet Verdi transcribed after/during his stay in Paris 1847-'52

The way he holds the trumpet I keep thinking it is going to fall apart.

c'est bien de jouer sur ces trompettes préhistoriques c'est un exploit mais rien ne vaut les trompettes modernes en mib c'est beaucoup plus facile

He is very skilled, and he certainly is brave, but I wouldn't call him the best ever. There's a reason why we don't play those anymore.

Holy f'n hell that conducter is annoting, that half-whisteling thing he does, is just about the most annoying thing I've ever encountered.! It's going straioght into the microhpone.! I really hope someone has made him stop doing that, 'cous it's buggin the hell outnof me.! :(
And it's a shame, becous the music is fantastic, David Guerrier and the orchestra are doing a hell of a job making that music.! And it sounds amazing.! Cudos to him and the orchestra.!
