I love your videos man. As far as the Z3 goes, I'm still not sure it's the most practical choice for me, but your videos are honestly very seductive. I'll say one thing though - it's an insanely beautiful car.
I just took my Bride on a 719 mile round trip to NW Arkansas and Branson, MO, in our 2002 Z3. First trip since I bought it a few weeks ago. it is a 1 Owner car but has 310,000 miles on it. 3.0i, Automatic ... Mechanically well maintained, but needs a top and respray. It performed flawlessly and still averaged a bit over 26 mpg running 91oct. I ran 1 tank of 87 and it did not like that, very noticeable drop in performance, stick with 91+...
I picked-up a 1997 Z3 from my brother-in-law the he and my sister-in-law gave to my sn for his 18th birthday. Drove it home almost 500 miles with no issues.
I just turned over 200K on my Z3 and I’d drive cross country tomorrow if I had too. I routinely make 350 mile trips in it every month. Thanks for watching my video. I have several other Z3 videos on my channel as well.
Nice vid! I just picked up my ‘97 z3 1.9 a few months ago and I love her. She’s a little rough but still runs great at 185k. What exhaust do u have? It sounds great.
Nice video and good to know that it lasts this long . I never tried long distance drive in my 2000 2.3 Auto with ~145k. Had to do lot of work to keep it running(suspension, cooling system, a/c etc). The only thing that can't be fixed is the old plastic parts and most of them are not available now. They gets brittle and break. Planning to give to my son when he goes to college within 2-3 years.
Thanks for watching. The best place I’ve found for most plastic parts are at the pick-and-pull type salvage yards. But, it’s hard to find a decent Z3 in those places. I had an old app called Row 52 that would allow you to search the local yards for a specific car, but it is no longer available. Good luck with your car. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed mine and I’m still racking up miles. She’s at just over 210K now and still going strong.
Look for rust all around the fender wells, especially if the car is up north. Drive it and make sure the suspension is tight. The 4 cylinder engines are pretty trouble free, just check for oil leaks. They’re pretty easy to fix though. Other than that, my car has been trouble free. In my opinion, I’d stay away from cars with automatic transmissions.
All best from U.K. I have similar Z3, only had it for 6 weeks, has 130k miles but already love it.
Cool. I’ve really enjoyed mine. Keep her maintenance up and she should be a good one.

My z3 2.8 1999 is at 179000 miles and still pulling well roll on the summer. Love this car and will never sell her .
Mine has over 200K now. I made a video about it turning 200 if you’re interested. Thanks for watching.

Make sure you replace the cooling plastic pipes on the side of the engine and behind the block. Those are the ones that tend to fail at 180-200k.

Thanks for watching. The exhaust is “Home Made”. I put out a video on it if you care to check it out. Enjoy your Z3. They’re a Hoot.

this the 1.9? I am thinking of getting a 2.5 or 2.8 soon. Beautiful car man!
Yes. Mine is a 1.9. I highly recommend any of them. It’s a super fun car.
@@gerechoppers thanks man, most i’m seeing with higher mileages are around 3k. Hopefully can score one for a bit less
I really want to buy this car, what are some common issues that I should be aware of? I am looking at the one with 141k miles
Are you looking at a 6 cylinder model or a 4 cylinder car?
@@gerechoppers I thought they only made 6c?
No, the 1996, 1997 and 1998 cars also came with 4 cylinder 1.9 Liter engines in the US. What year is the car you are looking at?
@@gerechoppers I am lookin at 1998 so I guess it is more likely to be 4c

my Z3 has 232k!
Awesome. Hopefully I’ll get there some day. Do you daily drive her? Is she the 1.9 or a straight 6?
gereshifters 1.9! i do daily drive it with no major issues besides some little oil leaks but what bmw doesn’t leak oil lol
Awesome. Keep her going. I rarely see others Z3s rolling down the road.
@@grayson158 I have 207K on mine, she’s a 1.9. Same story, hardly any issues, nothing serious.
That’s Brilliant, hope when my z engine gives up I’m just going to replace the engine no mater the cost. Could not live a summer with out her .
Mine has a 1.8 with 267.000 miles😁
Awesome. I’m at 208,00 and climbing now.
Awesome, and I was freaking out about getting up to 145,000
only 55k on mine so far
Mine has 134394
Please show (more car) less you.
