Great job! You are one of the very few videos using multiple colors of acrylic paint on wood. Thank you so much. Doing an old wood mantle clock and want something that will pop.
That is so awesome, I stumbled across this product and it's impressive. Very good tutorial! Just going to share something I recently learned. I've been using Acks abrasive paste and polish on my wood lathe projects. I did a cedar platter and wanted the old school heavy gloss. It turned out a touch bit bumpy, so I used the acks abrasive paste which is like a cream with an ultra fine abrasive in it a now it has a perfectly slick glossy finish. There's a lot of wood turners with coupon codes for it as well, it'd really make that finish "pop". Thanks again for the awesome video, I'm going to try it on a bowl, should be impressive!
Thank you for sharing that. I loved the old school gloss. I will have to check that out. I haven't heard of it. I'm trying to think about if you do it before Unicorn spit then you will still need a oil base coat - if you do it after will it come off with the abrasive paste?
Remember… videos, sadly, often outlast their creator. You may not feel a massive response in this moment, but the number of people you influence will only grow in time. Thank you for taking the effort to help the “ now” and the “future”. Like a rose knows not what becomes of its scent, a person know not of their influence.
Great job! I am a guitarist and was thinking of doing the blow torch technique followed by purple and red Unicorn Spit on a bass guitar cabinet. Perhaps also a silver metallic rub for contrast. Finally, perhaps a glossy polyurethane finish. Any thoughts?
Hi, I didn't use a wax it was a spray sealer then a top coat gloss varnish. You have to spray seal or use an oil based sealer. Using the spray first allows me to use a waterbased varnish. If I just used the waterbased first then it would reactivate the spit and ruin the project. Basically water on water isn't good .
Hi , that would depend more on what you use for the top coat. It would have to be a few top coats and something strong made for countertops. I have used oil based poly for my picnic table for one and the other was Totalboat top coat. An epoxy would work too.
Hi! Thanks so much for the great video! I'm planning to use this technique on small wooden mirrors. Could I stop with the clear spray step for sealant? Does the final step add durability, luster?
Thanks for the video. I was wondering what other artist were doing after the Unicorn Spit dried. I am actually working on a guitar that I used unicorn spit on. Also subscribed, I always enjoy finding other artist out there on the UA-cam platform.
Love this! I've been wanting to try this, and now seeing it done on something small, I think I'll try. I didn't want to stay on a large item and ruin it. Thank you 😊 Lol, I just saw this was a year ago.
Yes- this has helped me. I have all the stuff: just needed to see “how” I know this is a late question- but can you do unicorn spit on glass? & how? How would you seal it? How if it’s drinking cups, non-toxic. Thanks so much
Glad to help. With the glass question the way you would have to seal it would be not ideal for drinking cups. That I have found so far. I think you could do the wine glass stems. Other than that I would (for glass) look for a specific paint to bake that is for drinking glasses.
Hi, I just discovered this art technique of burning the wood and using Unicorn Spit. Your work is beautiful! I have a question: I've seen other videos where the wood is charred black and then scraped off with a wire brush. What would be the benefit of doing that technique as opposed to just burning the wood until it shows the grain as you do?
I feel like the charred burn way is just too much work? I wouldn't do it that way. Maybe though it is a way to get an even burn because you sand it? Not quite sure
If your new to Unicorn Spit I would suggest practice pieces first. If the bookshelf needs sanding do that down to bare wood if that is the look you are going for.
I would recommend the colors: yellow, blue and either pink or red then you can mix those to make like orange, green and purple so they spread out more.
I heard you can also use acrylic paint for a similar affect, is that true? I’d like to practice with something cheap and easily accessible before making a big purchase for unicorn spit..
you can try it but it won't be quite the same. The blending and ability to be watered down and still look good. It is meant for wood stain and so it will be the best. I'd say it's perfectly ok for practice to use paint but to only try techniques.
Hi it is in steps (thank you for asking because I didn't realize how confusing it was. ) How to wood Burn Part 1: ua-cam.com/video/gbvh4fQEcq4/v-deo.html Unicorn Spit Picnic table Part 2: ua-cam.com/video/AMO_JYief9M/v-deo.html Unicorn Spit Picnic Table Video Part 3 ua-cam.com/video/v4wQ2D0XVlg/v-deo.html
Hello, first, thank you for your videos! I might need some help- I am a newbie with any of this but very very enthusiastic to renovate an old drawer. I have two ideas: 1st is to mix colours to get a nature green/nature/woods,bushes,plains vibe to it. Which colors to use? 2nd is a sunset- made only with unicorn spit and wood grain. Again, which colors and can you make a video? ;)
Hi, I am so glad you want to get creative. For the drawer after sanding I would recommend Blue thunder, Dragons belly and lemon kiss I would use lemon kiss (yellow) for a mix into the others. If you only want to get 2 leave this one out. *but will be needed for the sunset. I think the 2 Blue thunder, Dragons belly would be so good together for the look you want. If you want brown and the drawer is brown leave some spots for it to show through. If you use oil base (which is recommended) it does have a yellow tint which will enhance the more green look and help. / With the sunset - lemon kiss and Molly red pepper , (phoenix fire if you want) otherwise mix red/yellow) I can try to make something with a sunset. It just might be a week or so. You can order here when you are ready: www.michellenicoles.com/?rfsn=3790263.1b4a32
you don't have to do that step, but it will look different. You could kind of run with the grain with a brush. I did a video ua-cam.com/video/UkWb77gvsbo/v-deo.html no torch used.
Please keep showing me how to use unicorn spit. I am a newbie and need to learn. It is beautiful stuff. Thanks
Yes I totally will 😃 Thank you so much. You may have subscribed but if not you can get notifications on my new videos. Many more videos to come.
Same here!
Thank you!!! Feel like I'm years behind the crowd I just found Uniforn Spit few months ago and I'm in love!! Thank you for vidoes
You're so welcome! I think will be able to catch up quickly. Either part of the fun is experimenting

Thank you ,- also this is a wood stain called unicorn Spit.
That turned out very nice with the photo! Thanks for showing that.
Glad you liked it!

This came out nice. I was seeing spit gel all over so looked it up here. Going to go see your other videos. Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much 😊 It is such a fun project - small learning curve , but once you get started it's so so exciting to see the finished project!

That's really cute. I always look for new unicorn spit videos on YT. Thank you for sharing yours!
Thank you , I wanted to show an easier way to get a cool look. Unicorn Spit is one of my favorites of all time.
I enjoyed this a bunch! Your style is very relaxing and welcoming. Thank you :)
I'm so grateful. Appreciate you taking the time for such a sweet comment
@@TheArtChick You inspired me to jump into my first piece and it turned out amazing so far, yet to glitterfy and seal but... I'm so stoked! Ty!
@@randomthings-qo4my This makes me so happy! To many more great projects!
@@TheArtChick I am so ruined, I want to unicorn spit the 🌎.
Yes! Once you do it you can't unsee everything created with it! I even have my mom asking "Can you spit this" we get looks LOL
Thank you for this video! Thinking about using unicorn spit on my front door, will look into this clearcoat as well.
If it's the outside front door - I really recommend 4 to 5 coats of UV protection top coat.
Wonderful tutorial! Thank you!
Thank you Hope to have more up soon
I am a beginner and love your videos I find them very helpful. Ty.
I'm so glad! This really inspires me to keep going. Thank you for letting me know.
Great video! Very helpful!!
Glad it was helpful! I hope to have a new video soon.

I like that color combo I would leave a little as the plain wood showing though too. Come back and let me see when you try it. Cool project
I am new to learning this, you used a seal spray & a wax? Do you have to use both? And whats the difference?
Hi, I didn't use a wax it was a spray sealer then a top coat gloss varnish. You have to spray seal or use an oil based sealer. Using the spray first allows me to use a waterbased varnish. very nice! looking to make countertops with unicorn spit. would the finish you used work on a more frequently-used surface? tks for this!
Hi , that would depend more on what you use for the top coat. It would have to be a few top coats and something strong made for countertops. I have used oil based poly for my picnic table for one and the other was Totalboat top coat. An epoxy would work too.

A 2 part epoxy would be great.
It's beautiful!!!!
Thank you
Definitely helpful! Thanks
Thank you for the nice comment.
💚💙💜🧡. Thank you for your effort!
You are so welcome!
Awe! I loved the video! You did a wonderful job!!
So happy! Thank you so much. I think this will help a lot of beginners especially
It's lovely
Hi! Thanks so much for the great video! I'm planning to use this technique on small wooden mirrors. Could I stop with the clear spray step for sealant? Does the final step add durability, luster?
Yes you could -- I would do 3 light coats to make sure it's covered
Very nice!
Thanks!
Thanks for the video. I was wondering what other artist were doing after the Unicorn Spit dried. I am actually working on a guitar that I used unicorn spit on. Also subscribed, I always enjoy finding other artist out there on the UA-cam platform.
Are you posting a video of the guitar? I would love to see that. Welcome to the party :)
@@TheArtChick Thanks! Yes, but it’ll be a week or so before I’m done. 🙂👍
Beautiful!

Lol, I just saw this was a year ago.
It's totally ok to start small and experiment - Hope you have a fun time, come back and tell me all the cool things you created!
Thank you for showing what products you use to seal it.
You are so welcome!
Your videos are very helpful. I combine wood and bamboo in my artwork and am playing with US and bamboo. Have you ever tried it on bamboo yourself?
Thank you and I never have tried it. I feel like it would work well.
Yes- this has helped me.
I have all the stuff: just needed to see “how”

@@TheArtChick Thank you. I agree, the charred burn is a lot of work.
Very effective, lovely results 💕
appreciate the kind words
What type of wood you use to get those lines vs the sides of the frames?
The lines are made by torching the wood.
Looking to do a book shelf any suggestions?
If your new to Unicorn Spit I would suggest practice pieces first. If the bookshelf needs sanding do that down to bare wood if that is the look you are going for.
We liked your video Anson Jack and Max
That is fantastic! Good to hear from you all. Miss you!
How many of coats of that 1st spary you did do you put down? Before the total boat
I did 2 but if you do it outside and the wind is blowing and you aren't sure of coverage you can do 3
First timer here… starting out with unicorn spit obviously can’t buy every color they have but what would you say your top colors for a newbie
I would recommend the colors: yellow, blue and either pink or red then you can mix those to make like orange, green and purple so they spread out more.
Is it a bought frame? If so did you have to remove a varnis first as you don't look like you are burning a finish off.
Hi Pete, this was a unfinished wood frame from Micheal's.
I can't find the video of the picnic table how long did something like that tank. Is there a link for the video

Would resin work on this?
yes it would, that would be quite pretty. If I did that I would probably rub the resin with gloves on it instead of pouring it. (few coats)
How can you use a water based sealer?
You can ......only if you spray it with a clear coat spray paint first, so it seals it, then you can use a water-based.
What if you don't have the blow torch
you don't have to do that step, but it will look different. You could kind of run with the grain with a brush. I did a video ua-cam.com/video/UkWb77gvsbo/v-deo.html no torch used.
Thanks alot your projects look awesome I'm doing a toy box for daughter hope it turns out as good as yours
Can you please try it on a picknick table squirrel feeder
I had to google that. I didn't know they made them. So cute! If I can find one for a decent price I will.
Rainbow colors?
Yes close to it I guess
i do t get how its any different than other psint/stain, i it different up vlose
it's more vibrant colors and blends incredibly well
