- The Vatican recently released a document giving guidelines for all the ways transgender people and active homosexuals can participate in various sacramental situations. This is bound to cause confusion and scandal.

I can’t understand why these people expect the Catholic Church to change our beliefs to suit them!
It is comforting to know that this is Christ’s Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. The linked article which you wrote is particularly clear and insightful. Aquinas is amazing. How is it that the Vatican abandoned this 12th century theologian’s understanding when a layman like yourself sees it’s valuable applied validity?

At every baptism, the person to be baptized and or the godparents are asked a very direct question "do you renounce satan and all his works" how can ANYONE living in an objectively sinful lifestyle say yes to this question!? Are we overlooking LYING now, too? 😡
My godmother was a lady from my neighborhood, a friend of my mother. We moved and lost connection with her, even so I have always thought she was praying for me. I had no prove of this but I knew it without doubt.
I did come back to the church. It took as an adult years for me to learn the faith. The parish’s I went to were weak on the faith. Eventually I learned the difference between authentic catholicism from less than orthodox and in time I found a faithful parish where the truth was taught. I am in grace now and will be a faithful Catholic for the remainder of my life.

Ralph thank you as always for the compassionate clarity you bring to the “ambiguous & nuanced” interpretations of the faith. Yes we are always called to love, humility and respect of all persons in that they like all our of us are made in the image of God. But each of these situations of transgenderism, homosexuality etc no matter how sincere violates Jesus’ call to worship the Father in spirit & in truth. We are to “love the sinner but hate the sin” a continual challenge & the church at this time is not helping us here…

Thank you Ralph. Two additional points need to be made here: 1) It is a grave spiritual injustice to the child being baptized to have a "transgender" godparent assigned by the parents. (It is the spiritual version of the grave injustice of an adoption agency placing a child in home of a homosexual or transsexual couple) 2) By the public proclamation to the congregation that a transgender person is godFATHER or godMOTHER (in opposition to their actual chromosomal sex) the parish priest presiding at the baptism would be speaking against TRUTH to his congregation. We must pray for our priests to faithful to the truth, which is the person of Jesus Christ, no matter what the cost.

The document says transgender people can be godparents under the usual conditions and if there's no danger of scandal. Now, the usual conditions would include living a Christian life, or at least *not* living a life that's a counter-witness to the Gospel. For this reason, I can only assume that the document is NOT envisaging a situation where, say, a man identifying as a woman becomes a godmother, because that WOULD be a counter-witness the Gospel. Instead, it's envisaging a situation where (say) a man who has had gender reassignment surgery, but now accepts his natural sex, becomes a godFATHER. That is the only way I can make the document make sense.
Love the Blessed Mother! Never, ever let go of her guiding hand that will Lead us to Jesus. Pray as never before - especially the Rosary (daily) for her intentions.

I just read John chapter 8. It's about the woman caught in adultery. The Pharisees goal was to trick Jesus. He was so wise in saying, "He who has no sin cast the first stone." By saying that he upheld the Mosaic Law. After all the woman's accusers slipped away one by one, Jesus asked the woman, "Has no one condemned you?" She answered, "No, Lord" Jesus forgave her and told her to leave her life of sin. He did not ignore or condone her sin. Her accusers had already broken the Mosaic Law because both the man and the woman had to be stoned. (I'm assuming it was a man she was with. They didn't have weird gender issues in 30AD)

Thank God for you for speaking the truth. We need more people like you to break the ambiguity created by the clergy.which is highly dangerous to our children's souls. We catholic parents need a new daily prayer to keep the confusing thoughts (created by the clergy itself) from affecting our children. God please give wisdom to the clergy to not to teach error. Thank you for informing what’s really going on it all started in the opening of giving blessing of gay and lesbian in the most holiest place. Our church now is going to be the trans gender adults as well as children that want to push as well as the pope and bishops for them to be baptized. Are we changing our Roman Catholic faith Completely ??? is what our Lord taught us that only a man and a woman can get married there only a man and a woman and a child that is considered the right gender can be baptized and receive all the other sacraments. Is this being changed now by the pope and bishops I wasn’t taught that are we Catholic or are we a different religion? Now we need to pray for the popes and bishops. Amen. God bless you and your family for informing us what the reality is happening and many Catholics are not informed and others they’re putting their head under the sand. The two answers to the questions contained in the dubia regarding transgender individuals ( baptism and God parents) qualified the resonses by specifically refering to those individuals who had undergone hormone therepy and sex reasignment surgery. Left unsaid, but which demands answers, is that of those who have not had hormone therapy or sex reasignment surgery but nevertheless identify as transgender individuals. These individuals far outnumber those who have undergone complete transition and are far more likely to present themselves as candidates for participation in sacraments and be a source of contention.

Besides the possibility of scandal, there is also a grace danger to the souls of those being baptized, if they are unrepentant adolescents/adults or babies/children being raised by people not practicing the faith. If they do not repent before death, the Church teaches that their punishment in hell will be worse as unrepentant baptized persons than if they had never been baptized. Because baptism incurs a certain responsibility to live and teach the faith.
This “new paradigm” has utter contempt for JP II ToB; what happened to the Theology of the Body????? That is the precise antidote to gender ideology. The response to this should be to double down to the formation of young persons in the TOB

This is so fraught with problems. It does cause scandal. People cannot be baptized if they have no desire to live as Christians. What on Earth!

Its just like the spirit of Vatican II. Confusion without specification of what is or should be.
I dunno, who would ask a man who claims to be a woman or a woman who claims to be a man to be a Godparent? The demons are mocking God, and they are getting bolder about it. But then, it's always been that way with demons. When they return after they have been run out, their wrath is that much stronger:
“When an unclean spirit goes out of a person it roams through arid regions searching for rest but finds none. Then it says, ‘I will return to my home from which I came.’ But upon returning, it finds it empty, swept clean, and put in order. Then it goes and brings back with itself seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they move in and dwell there; and the last condition of that person is worse than the first.” ― Matthew 12: 43-45
I don't think so. People that confused are not practicing Catholics.
Edicts and commentary are one thing. When I hear such things I turn to the source. What does scripture have to say on the matter? As far as the areas Dr. Martin touches on in this video, the Gospel is pretty clear:
“For although they knew God they did not accord him glory as God or give Him thanks. Instead, they became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless minds were darkened. While claiming to be wise, they became fools…Therefore, God handed them over to degrading passions. Their females exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the males likewise gave up natural relations with females and burned with lust for one another. Males did shameful things with males and thus received in their own persons the due penalty for their perversity. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God handed them over to their undiscerning mind to do what is improper.” ― Romans 1
“You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and also the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and of the table of demons.” ― Corinthians 10: 21
“For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine but, following their own desires and insatiable curiosity, will accumulate teachers and will stop listening to the truth and will be diverted to myths.” ― Timothy 4: 3-4
“Now the works of the flesh are obvious: immorality, impurity, licentiousness...I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” ― Galatians 5: 19-21
I love you Ralph. You are a light in the darkness. But could you please look at scripture? Are we dealing with a messianic promise? Dt 23:1-3; Is 56:4-5; Acts 8:26-40. I think Isaiah is the key, because clearly remorse and contrition is a condition. We can hope in Jesus because his mercy is greater than every sin, but we must repent and choose the way of Jesus, not sin.
According to their own statement: this very legitimatization is causing indeed a great scandal and confusion! Therefore we should not be implemented. Everything is for grabs now, it only depends on one priest's opinion. Even the first pope denied the Lord. Let's pray that this one will do what Peter did aftermath.
Pastoral prudence is in short supply these days. Even faithful pastors are under tremendous pressure to accept transgenders into catholic schools. I know mine is.
NO. There are moral absolutes. Same-sex attraction, attraction to someone else's spouse are temptations. Yielding to temptation is sin.
Dr. Martin, what you describe is Modernism, not Catholicism:

Not only that, there is a contradiction within the last 2 years...Hollerich doesn't believe that the Catholic teaching on homosexuality is solidly based...some bishops in favor of same sex unions...pope saying the door is open to blessing same sex relationships...there used to be stability, there used to be continuity. I think we are in serious trouble right now....pretty terrible situation...strange, ambiguous, unclear...opens the door to truly scandalizing people...giving a counter witness to what the truth and faith really is..."

Yet again confusion and ambiguity. Not good.
Lord please, this is just gone too far.
Obviously we cannot solve any problems by abandoning the church of Christ. But, what happens if the church by way of the Pope starts approving these disordered and sinful things? Just even giving these gender ideologues conversations legitimize this warped mindset. I'm talking of unrepentant people not those truly asking for forgiveness and having a conversion of heart. Supporting evil and demonic and depraved lifestyles because we don't want to offend or hurt feelings is becoming ridiculous and offensive to the faithful.... I hope sanity eventually returns and I trust the Holy Spirit will protect us and give us direction in God's time.
I'm sure Michael Lofton will be critiquing your video here pointing to some documents proving the church hasn't changed but he will avoid the question about optics and how these things appear to others who don't dive into dozens of documents signed by the Pope....
