David Bowie was anything but uptight! The man had swagger and was an artistic genius!

That song Right on the cover was the b-side to Fame, with Luther Vandross, Robin Clark, and Ava Cherry on backing vocals. Luther and Robin became certified legends in soul and r&b, and Young Americans was the first major record they were on. They worked in a grocery store together when David found Carlos Alomar, Robin's partner, and eventually his longtime guitarist. David took the three of them out on his Philly Dogs Tour while recording the album. It was a huge deal at the time after the Civil Rights Movement. David was quite a good human being. ❤

    David Bo-wee is right. 🥰
This is a little song he wrote with John Lennon from The Beatles for his Young Americans album. It's a gorgeous foray into soul and funk music. I think you'll love a song called Look Back in Anger from his Lodger album. Oasis released a song called Don't Look Back in Anger named after it, so that may appeal to you. David's sound was ever-changing and he could do it all, so expect a lot of different things from him. If you want some other samples of his work in different genres, check out Wild Eyed Boy from Freecloud, Time, and When the Wind Blows. Best of luck! 💙

Hi, Emily... It's Bo-ee , like the knife.
The thing about him was that he was always changing. No two if his albums were exactly alike.

The interesting thing is that the knife guy is actually Boo-ee. Bo-wee is the Scottish version David chose. It means blonde.

Bowie's Young Americans is tight. One of the backup singers was a young Luther Vandross, another legend in his own right.

Emily, Now your reacting to one of the biggest rock stars ever, so many great songs. Try "Moonage Daydream". You got his name right either way, people used both ways.

Panic in Detroit is a hot jam from Bowie, but he has years and years of diamond tunes.

Great - you might like his soul songs Golden Years, Young Americans Live or Let's Dance which was a huge hit in the 80s.

one year before this song he was wearing dresses, makeup, had bright red hair and an eyepatch, and was making straight up rock music-just to give you an idea of how much he changed himself throughout his career lol. Dope reaction!

When you start on Elton John from this era you will be pleasantly suprised how many you know but "Philadedlphia Freedom"(the soul train appearance version ) seems like an answer song to David

lol, David could dance, but nothing spectacular... Now the guy that he let use this same beat on another song could very much dance. ""Hot (I Need To Be Loved, Loved, Loved, Loved)" by James Brown used the same riff. Bowie was hugely flattered that Brown wanted to use it.
