Thank you for putting this video out there. After giving my blood, sweat and tears to the Agile community for over 17 years, I feel so deflated and defeated when I see SBOK type nonsense being rolled out in companies still in 2024.
Dear Daria, I was wondering if you could kindly provide some guidance regarding free or affordable Scrum certifications that would help improve our knowledge and enhance our CVs for Scrum Master job opportunities. It would be greatly appreciated if you could create a video discussing this topic. Thank you very much for your assistance.
I don't think there are any fully free certifications that would be recognized on the same level as PSM or CSM. But you can look into some courses on Udemy, Coursera, and LinkedIn Learning (though, this last one isn't free I believe). I think the most affordable at this point is the PSM I at Scrum.org since you don't have to attend the class.
Check Scrum.org - they provide certifications under the trademark Professional Scrum (e.g. Professional Scrum Master, Professional Scrum Product Owner), and Scrum Alliance - they provide certifications under the name Certified Scrum (e.g. Certified ScrumMaster, Certified Product Owner).
Hello Daria, interesting video. I completly agree with you. When I speak about Scrum and Agility I always make clear to refer ONLY to official organizations and trainers (and books/material from them) and to the official Scrum guide, of course. Everyone have to make a living, but for sure not selling "fakes".
@alebigna Thanks for sharing the good message, Alessandro. Btw, I don't know if you'll see it, but I have a collaboration suggestion for you. If you can contact me (since I don't see email on your profile page), I'd love to tell you more.
I don't believe the word Scrum is a trademark (or that it can even be registered as one) so you can't just go after people because they use a certain word. So I'm not sure what the legal imprlications of this may be

@Stinking82, I hear you. I think that the only way we can fight it is by educating others about what's real and what's fake.
What do you think about PSM and CSM for a complete beginner? I’m also doing the google pm certification course and planning to take the CAPM from PMI.
PSM is a great course and a great certification so I definitely recommend it.

Hi Daria,
What programs/organizations do you recommend for getting certified in Scrum Master?
Check Scrum.org - they provide certifications under the trademark Professional Scrum (e.g. Professional Scrum Master, Professional Scrum Product Owner), and Scrum Alliance - they provide certifications under the name Certified Scrum (e.g. Certified ScrumMaster, Certified Product Owner).

@@ScrumMastered Hello Daria, I sent you an email. Check you spam folder too, sometimes it happens that a message from my address is marked as "spam".
Very interesting 😮 this is really good. We need to unmasked these people😢.Thanks Daria
Yes, for sure. I might get a lot of hate for that though 😬
couldn't the founders take legal action against these people? To not use the name of the framework at least

Great video, Daria.
Thank you! 😃
