I love this channel too! So much valuable stuff. - loads of great insights, and also just really satisfying to watch. Plus, Zach and Maddie are so likeable.
Love your training videos, Zach! You're so insightful. Totally at a different level from yourself, of course(!), but i really relate to the idea of stepping back from a particular routine for a while to reset, and how this actually reminds you of the benefits and you're more psyched to return to it. My 12yo daughter and i are both novices, and my daughter hates climbing in the depths of winter - over the past couple of years since we started, she's paused her climbing around the end of November. Last year she naturally came to a point around February where she was suddenly really motivated to climb again, she came back and made loads of progress, but that wouldn't have happened without having the perspective of that hiatus. Same this winter - she sent her hardest ever routes at the end of November, ended her 'season' on a high, is pausing, and I'm sure she'll be raring to go again come the spring. I've had a period of illness recently, and I was really miserable about not being able to climb much, but i think my body was telling me to ease back. I've rested well, and over the past fortnight have really enjoyed trying properly hard again. 💪
Yeah that’s awesome to hear!! For sure it’s so important to take a step back for a bit, and sometimes our bodies will take control and force us to rest haha
Hi Zack. I was wondering if you gave the LV version of the Instinct VSR a try. I remember that you mentioned some downsides of the vsr in your tn pro review. I recently got the vsr lv's and I think they address a few of those issues.
was thinking about trying these out, how are they compared to the drago lv? i have the drago lv rn, but the heel box is a little too deep and wide for me
I'm not sure he will and can do this since he's a Unparallel sponsored athlete now. I have the VSR LV and I've tried and bought few of the Unparallel shoes (and still use some of them atm) and they're quite close to what Flagship does anyway.
man these spray wall sessions have a vary positive impact on your flow:) these first boulders you can tell, that your body is like not afraid, but on contrary like a fish in the water on the wall. and the decision to make more spray and campus in the future sounds great. by the way this is something like the Janja Garnbret way. have you considered some slack lining or similar for body balance awareness, or balancing on something with just feet (ball like...). just occurred to me as a fun observation i've made. the storror guys (british crew parcour pros) are very good at balancing on small things after big jumps.
Is there any chance for a video that focuses on breathing techniques to maximize body tension? E.g, when to hold your breath for an explosive move, what moments to exhale with force, shallow breathing on a no-hands slap preventing you from falling off, etc. Noticed you doing this a lot in your last video. It would be nice to go more indept. Keep up the good work!
Have you tried the unparallel Souped Up? I just got a pair and I am loving them. Not the best for small edges but they may be the best toe hook shoe I have tried. They are also good for really bad volume smears. You should try them if you haven't yet, I would love to see a full review of them in the future. Love the vids, keep them coming!
Just a question for you: What do the numbers on the boulders mean exactly? I'm assuming it's difficulty, but why not just put a grade on it? I know that grades are subjective, but these numbers are subjective as well.
Yeah so these are Rose Blocs new circuit grades! The idea with this circuit is to have more easier grades (like 6-7 circuit grades within the v1-v4 range, so a 6 would be like a v4). This way new climbers progress faster to higher numbers which can be more motivating for people to get into bouldering!
Been binging all your videos over the past few months, my favourite climbing channel by far!

I haven’t tried the lvs! Glad to hear that they feel good!

I haven’t ever tried slackline! Maybe one day! I just try to do a good amount of slab 💪

That’s an interesting idea! I’ll add it to the list 💪

Hey Zach quick question. Do you get as revenue from the UA-cam videos? I can’t remember if I get ads on your videos.
Yep! Even if you’re YT premium and don’t get ads YT pays us directly 🙌
great to hear that our fellow comp climbers are monetized!!
I really wish there was no music, at least while a talk.
music is nice to hype up the action while climbing and stopping in case of fall, like "côté bloc" is doing
