As someone who likes electronic music and Punk music, I think its a narrow view on art. I wonder what Rollins' view on Negativland is... 🤔 Anyway, it's not like Punk Rock is famous for recycling the same 4 chords or anything.
U2's first two records are actually pretty good. However, Bono once admitted that he thought Echo and the Bunnymen were "better than U2" and that if the Bunnymen had been more promoted they would have been more popular than U2 also.
I guess Henry’s never seen a real DJ throw down 3 records at once and make a crowd lose their shit. Turntables are absolutely an instrument. Also, remind me what instrument does grandpa Rollins plays again?
U2 I'll always think of as car commercial music first and foremost. Totally lame band that inexplicably has fans out there somewhere I guess. If U2 was a politician they would be Hillary Clinton.
As much as I share his feelings about bands like U2, it makes me uncomfortable when musicians piss on other musicians. And if I were to seek someone's opinions about music from the "punk" side of things, I would turn to Keith Morris, Jeff Mcdonald or Joey Shithead. Henry Rollins grates on my nerves and has always seemed to be full of himself in my opinion. There were so many other classic punk bands that were so much better than Black Flag, it's unfair that Henry Rollins is so often the chosen mouthpiece of the genre. Unreservedly so.
I wonder if Henry Rollins has ever met Aphex Twin… these two could have interesting conversations about music. I remember a title from Venetian Snares also which is called F**k Toronto Jungle, so there are people in electronic music who are able to have a critical angle about it.
No, YOU are wrong...the RAVE scene was entirely about drugs. That is not rebellious, it certainly wasn't Counterculture, and it was never REAL Music. So, yeah. You are the one who is wrong...even delusional. 😂😂😂
Why they ever chose ( the edge) for the documentary It might get loud , with Jimmy Page, is mind boggling to me. Jack White wasn’t impressive enough neither. So many guitarists could have been there but, maybe they were unemployed at that time.
Rave is not a band. It’s all about a good time all most of the people are partying with mostly rolling on moli and other stuff like moli excasty aderall. Green Day was one of the bands that knew how to work the crowd. I went to one at the STATE PALACE THEATER IN Canal street in New Orleans. That is Rave Rolling Festive party.
I hate. Alfalfa from the little rascals, he just did not do it for me and I could never get why everyone and Darla liked him, BUT. I do love Stymie when he sang
People have different taste, but my opinion is that U2 is genius. I don't like care much for rave music or Henry Rollins. Some rave music is listenable, but these DJ remixing with repetitive beats during the 1988/89 summer of rave was the birth of soccer moms, as they gave birth to sick babies and ruined the approach to soccer. Henry Rollins was also jockstrap with macho jocked heavy metal/hardcore
I liked Henry Rollins ever since he described U2 as "utterly bummed out and bogus" in the NME
What kills me is that Bono never hesitates to describe U2 as a punk band.
The entire punk rock community rolls their eyes everytime he does it.
I never heard of the band Rave Music.
Rave is a form of dance music that formed in the early 1990s.
Who cares what Rollins things about anything?
Henry is dead right about rave music: "You're not a musician, you're a record-player player. "

Oh the irony since henry's rant about rave music has now been sampled by several dnb producers.
He also disliked Richard Marx. Wrote a letter to him pleading him to stop recording his brand of poppy rock.
😂🫶
No Chelsea? “This is the greatest thing since ‘77!”
Great artist.
band #1 U2, band #2 thanks for watching.
Henry Rollins- well spoken and much written about but little heard on any media that mattered.
U2's first two records are actually pretty good. However, Bono once admitted that he thought Echo and the Bunnymen were "better than U2" and that if the Bunnymen had been more promoted they would have been more popular than U2 also.
I love U2s first couple of albums. They sounded inspired.
He's not wrong there, Echo are fantastic.
When bono started kissing blairs ass, his diminishing kudos was irretrievable for many.
@@Malarkey_1 sure, whatever that means? I just listen to records. I hate Ted Nugent's politics but he was still a good guitarist on his 70s albums.
I love Rollins' 'He Never died' movie. Seen it so many times. Cracks me up every time.
Yeah, Rave Music is not a band....
It is not music, either
@@christoskoulis1373 Students of music theory might argue with you, but I won't. 😆
Rollins was right about Bono. On South Park they proved that Bono was the world's biggest Turd! Until Randy Marsh broke the record though!
Bono want the bitty
32 Katie cuorics
his death in wrong turn cant remember which one is his best hit
What would be Rave music from the 90's? Do KLF laveled there? Their acts were more "punk" than Henry would ever be...
You don't know much about what went on in the early hardcore scene from '80 - '86 in places like DC, Los Angeles etc then.
I guess Henry’s never seen a real DJ throw down 3 records at once and make a crowd lose their shit. Turntables are absolutely an instrument. Also, remind me what instrument does grandpa Rollins plays again?
The Edge got off easy
They forgot about the smiths
He's a little bit crazy actually. He's like Erich Fromm's rebel.
I never like U2, especially that self-important WEF tool Bono.

Henry rollins is right U2 over rated shit as for rave music about DJs stealing other artists music is about right.
Just like content creators steal videos from other people and cash in on it

The irony of Rollins calling out U2.
Henry is a self described Commie. Therefore he cannot call himself "Punk".

The only people I met that liked U2 were my friends younger sisters. Not mine .
U2 had the same ideology as black flag

Did you mean to say the Smith’s or more accurately Morrissey himself?
I also don’t like the band Rave-music
Black flag. 🤘👍awesome band. I dont know Henry Rollins but he is a legend.

Henry Rollins is some clown with zero talent who some how made a career out of it.

Lol Henry hated all bands outside the punk genre.
I’m sure U2 is sitting in their hundreds of millions of dollars and 22 Grammys worrying about what Henry Rollins thinks about them.😆
