Finland has the best educational system in the world. Less hour spent in the classroom, more hour to exploration in line with the students interest where they can comfortably and confidently learn these only proved that we can surely learn through experience with the guidance from our teacher because first hand learning can be a life long learning.
An expert teacher are always tasked to do demo teaching so that he/she can share to the observers an organized lesson, various relevant teaching strategies, rapport, processing of students' responses, HOTS and many more. May be for higher grade, the teacher just act as the facilitator of learning. However activities are planned ahead of time; practice/ rehearsals are a must. From the demo teaching, teacher observers are expected to get ideas, theories, strategies to facilitate teaching - learning.
This is really awesome video. Whether scripted or Not but this will serve as a REMINDER for US "ALL TEACHERS" to maximize the classroom, calling all student's name and interact with them, not only for few students. This teacher showed how she used her students at all times. She used Inquiry based strategies and indirect teaching. Cooperative learning is all visible. She used different styles in learning that MOST of the TEACHERS didn't. She gave time for the students to present their group work and she uses praises and thanks giving when students recites or do the presentation. Those who commented NON REALISTIC, it is really true BECAUSE MOST TEACHERS in the CLASSROOM are LAZY, they didn't do the REAL LEARNING PROCESS as a result STUDENTS GOT NOTHING. The title of the video specifically states that this is a demo. Just like any other demo, it has to look like perfect because the purpose of this video is to pick up some effective strategies that can be used on a regular class. That’s my take to it. It makes me miss teaching in the Philippines 🇵🇭
I think we need to reformat our education curriculum that is largely patterned by USA's educational system to be now structured by Singapore and Japan institution's curriculum, that in the primary years of the system, they were not taught of Academics but purely Discipline, Etiquette, and Personality Development and when they reach intermediate years, thats the moment they have Academics, the reason why mosts of the Singaporean and Japanese are respectful and well-disciplined people.The government (Department of Education) should be able to eye the context of children and youth nowadays in transforming theirselves to values, love and respect in the Philippines.
I remember when I was in off-campus training, it was my final demonstration so I need to practice it so many times in front of the mirror, my critic suggested me if I want to dry run my topic, my answer is no...I don't want it to be scripted, I want to do it as a regular class when no one of my pupils know our topic. In this video, I think the teacher was very prepared and as well us the students, no wrong answer...and 100% percent of the class were know their assigned task.. well in fact, in a real situation it was a rare results, unless your students belong in the top class..
1. The problem with demo teaching is the fact that it is unnatural and very very unrealistic. Whether scripted or not, the students are fully aware that they are being observed or at least what they are made to believe -- that the observers are there to observe the students (in reality, the observers are there to assess the teacher) 2. Look at how flawless this demo is. It is very unrealistic. The smoothness of a demo does not entail effectiveness. 3. One key feature of essential understanding is correcting misconception. In the video, because it is a demo teaching and the students are aware that they are being observed, or worse, being taped, they all behave in the best case scenario. There is no room for misconceptions. 4. While there are really hints of K12 and UbD here, this is obviously not learner-centered. 12 minutes into the video and the students are still in their places. I thought in K12, we use more activities. I thought that K12 adopted the backward design of UbD. If this was an actual class scenario, 12 minutes in this video is actually 40 in real life because in reality, there are a lot of small things that are deliberately removed from this demo. Say for example, checking of attendance, tending to student who is doing something like doodling on the table, checking the mess, students asking irrelevant and far fetched questions, etc etc. The students are not involved in any challenging activity at the very start. Is this the 21st century teaching that K12 curriculum boasts? 5. Near the end, the teacher asked if they are done. In reality, students work at different phase. If one student is already done while others are not, supplementary activities should be given to him. This is the purpose of Unit Assessment Map and Unit Activity Map. There are different levels of activities. 6. What was the EU and EQ here again? 7. What was the transfer goal? 8. I didn't see any Transfer here. 9. This is a very ideal class scenario 2 decades ago. Exactly in contrast to what k12 advocates- 21st century learners.

This demonstration of Filipino in the K-12 curriculum is excellent, it gives importance to our Filipino National language, but in reality most particularly in the Bicol Region, K-12 curriculum uses one local Bicol dialect on early grades. The Bicol Region comprises of different Languages, the difficulty and seemingly waste of time to make the lesson understandable is that the students have to learn the local language, a language which cannot be used for National and International communication.

Even the observer has a problem dude. I can relate this situation to my mother who is also a teacher, she wanted to do every COTs in a right and perfect way in order to attain the standards being raise bby her observer. Sometimes, mas ginugusto pa ng mga observers na ready-made na ang mga isinasagawang demonstrasyon ng mga guro. halata naman iyon. sila nga ang dapat na magcorrect ng mga maling isinasagawa ngkanilang mga guro na napabilang sa kanilang distrito pero mas ginugusto pa nilang paulit ulit pa itong gawin para lang ma achieve ang standard na gusto nila.

it is just a DEMONSTRATION.the most important in Demo is to attain the objectives and the panel will check if the activity, method and approach are appropriate in class discussion. But in reality the students did not behave like that :D
