I highly recommend getting a small pump sprayer. It goes on evenly, smoothly, and quickly.
For me, I do a pre-wash, rinse, dry, spray with CarPro Iron X, rinse and re-wash with Iron X soap from CarPro and do a clay when needed. But I think when my bottles will be empty, try the Fireball product.
Your tests are very impressive and appreciative. I no longer find myself spending money on useless products. Thanks again.
Mr. Cee agreed! Thanks Brian!!!
While D2002 is great for the DIY detailer, I'll stay with my D1801 Iron and Paint decon.
Thanks for the review, I enjoy your videos!
I suspect since it is a ready to use product, it is targeted to the enthusiast that doesn't want to have a gallon bottle in the garage for years.
I've got a new car with less than 1000 miles, so a milder iron remover is perfect for my needs. Meguiar's for me
Those headlights are crisp
Greta video Brian ,i think this product it’s made for the enthusiast more that a profesional use. Or maybe just for iron remover
I'm surprised that they haven't added the word "ceramic" to the product since every other meguiars product is named something ceramic.
Gotta get those new meguiars ceramic microfiber iron clay polisher wax drying towel compound wash mits dude. No this isn't a keyword generated product. 😉
This was super helpful for a newbie. Thank you!
Hi we’re you still going to do the themed details like with Walmart products or was there not really enough interest in those videos? Thanks love the videos Also do you use gloss works for maintenance washes ?
reggie ferguson I am still looking forward to doing themed details. Just difficult to find the time.
SpiritZer00 thanks for that insight generally my vehicles will be our side after a maintenance wash does that tacky pick up dust?
Apex Detail ok cool I can be patient 😂 I’m enjoying everything you put out
I just bought a new (used) equinox, and after getting it home, I noticed something awful. Someone had left a box-cutter blade on top of the roof and it looks like it sat there and rusted. The blade was gone, but the outline and stain was so severe it looked like the blade was still sitting there. I used this D002 - it took 2 rounds and some elbow grease, but it did get the entire stain off, leaving the paint unharmed.
Thank you, Brian. Another good video. For a DIY guy who's not charging or trying to do a business, and who's basically just hooking up his friends on their 15 year old Mazda (or whatever), there is a difference between "best", "good enough", "bad". The question is, could I one step the iron removal and claying on an old car for free that is only going to look so-so anyway, or is that actually "bad", will I hurt the car?
Thoughts?
Does this product remove ceramic coat? Or can i use it over the coat just to maintain?
Decent product but there is a few others that are more effective. Thanks Brian ✊💎
Thanks for the video! Does all that crap leaves spots on the ground by any chance? Once I used a wheel cleaner and it dropped on my driveway and left marks and never came off until I had a company come and clean it.
on any of the synthetic clay pads would it be smarter to rinse them off with a iron remover to help them last longer or rid of any junk left in them?
What do you think about sudzbox , 360 products and Nexgen?
Can I use it instead of clay bar for a brand new car?
Have you used carpro iron x? This one is safe on plastics
hey brian please answer this question for me is glide worth buying for clay lube i am currently using onr in 32 oz bottle with half oz onr diluted with distilled water do you think glide will provide more lubrication then onr thanks for your time and skills
I'll stick with Meguires Iron Decon at $35 gallon.
Hi. How long does the gallon last you? If I use iron Decon will that replace the clay bar for paint. Can you use it on windshield? Sorry for the questions I’m new to detailing my vehicle.
@@nomeat no it will not replace the clay bar. This is a dedicated iron remover. As far as glass I personally don't use it on glass, I generally do a quick clay treatment and or water spot remover. Starke Venom for a good water spot remover, its safe for glass and ceramic coatings.
@@urbanedgeautodetailing okay thank you.
Never mind...Fireball is too expensive. Meguiar's will work better!!!
Do you have any trick for the rare spots on the windows rubbers? Is like fungus or something like that
Ricardo Gonzalez try Adams tire and rubber cleaner.
I do agree the name was went a little too far, but I guess if someone only knows clay bar the paint this may simplify it for them. I think people who know what products do through business or experience know that the work clay is just too much.
I am going to pass on this one. Thank you for the great reviews!
Do uou guys in the US get UK's Autoglym range?
It looks similar to their Liquid Clay.
Matt Le Moo it Is difficult to get it here.
Can you explain why I have experience it streaking and damaging the paint? I applied it while the paint was wet with water and I sprayed it out to a T. It dried up and streaked everywhere in the paint and windows. Had to spend half the day buffing it all out... ugh
It doesn't say 'Hybrid Ceramic' on the bottle. Sorry, I'm out. ;oD
I will pass on this one... thanks for the great review!
For the most part, a very good video Brian & you clearly have an understanding of fallout removers which, no offence but most Americans have no clue about how they work or how they should be used.
My only criticism of the video would be the unfair review of the product on the wheels. You obviously know fallout removers should be used on clean surfaces to allow the product full access to the embedded particles on the paint, leaving dirt/muck on there only hampers it's effectiveness. That's why you cleaned the car body right?
The same philosophy applies to wheels, they are a painted surface after all. I don't think it was fair to conclude it hasn't been 100% effective on the wheels when the product was used with a barrier of dirt/brake dust in the way. That's why the Gyeon iron out was still showing quite a bit of purple after the wheels had been cleaned using the megs liquid clay & wheel cleaner.
In summary, apply the same method you have for the car body to the wheels so clean them with a standard wheel cleaner, dry then hit them with the iron fallout, you'll get much better results 👍
instablaster.
Looking forward to the Fireball reviews!
James Biedlar me too!
I have a Honda element that has large unpainted plastic panels. I'm concerned using an iron remover will discolor the panels. Any recommendations for that situation?
This was a smart move for Meguiar's. I believe they are the only iron remover available on store shelves which is explicitly paint-safe.
Eagle one had the plastidip stuff, and Megs had their Ultimate Wheel Cleaner - but I truly see this product becoming very popular. I will definitely get myself a bottle next time I see one.
I am not so sure they were as precise and perfect in their choice of the other RTU products.. they are easily replaceable by other products on the same shelves in stores. The Citrus Power Cleaner may be useful, but probably not as unique as the paint-safe iron remover (and by unique I mean available in stores like autozone/pep boys).
It definitely looks like it sprays much better than the Griots Iron Remover - which as much as I am a Griots fanboy absolutely sucks to spray onto the car.
LJM2stepspain this works perfectly fine as an iron remover.👍
Can I use it on a ceramic coated vehicle? Also does it damage ppf right? Thank you.
I really debate myself between clay bar first or after iron remover. When the car has never been clay bar’d (7/10 cars I see) I feel like the iron shards are hiding behind the thick syrup that is bonded contaminant. Adversely like you mention I don’t want clay bar to shear metal and pick it up and mar the paint unwittingly as I continue to clay. Even on 2020 silverados, the clay bars are filthy. On new paint!!
Thank you for explaining why it's important to use an iron remover before claying. I plan to clay my car soon and wasn't going to use an iron remover. I will now! I would have marred my paint otherwise.
Nice..it was definitely time for this car to have a proper bath👌🏼
I'm still on the fence with this one but..I do need more iron decon..😁
Ok you say you are avoiding the “trim” and “glass” but not sure what trim you were avoiding but you sprayed the chrome handles and emblems. I used this on my F-150 and it dripped onto my chrome running boards (step) and etched them pretty good and I was in shade. Now I’m scared to use this product on my other vehicles because it’s hard to avoid getting it on the chrome..
Ive heard their ultimate wheel and tire cleaner is more or less the same stuff. Kind of like their beadbooter and HCQD.
Hello I think you missed the point of the 2002. It was not intended to be used as a clay lube. It is to be sprayed on, wait 2-3 minutes, agitated with microfiber then rinsed off.
You should’ve compared the second coat between products. Or, maybe, do one side with one product and the other side with the other product.
The fact that the second product took off more “iron” after the first attempt means nothing. ie……fake news. Nothing scientific about it.
So my brake pad failed on my truck and had to drive it till I got it home! Because there was no pad it was bare metal now I have rust spots on that side of my truck which truck is white in color and the brown rust spots are rigged on the paint looks terrible can anyone help with ideas really wanna fix this thanks !!!
Why didn’t you do a second application of the Meguires to be fair? Or do one wheel with meguires only, and one with the fireball?
Thank You, The video convincingly told the story, and for now I’m keeping my protocol and products for decontamination.
YOu didn't follow the directions on the bottle, wash the surface and dry it first before applying.
What if it doesnt turn purple? That means that the car wasnt contaminent? Or the spray didnt do the work? The car was never spray with this before
How would it hurt windows? Isn’t it just glass? I’m assuming you said that to avoid damaging seals around the glass.
Can you recommend this to remove cooking grease from a kitchen exhaust vent being over car?
Thank you Brian! It's always extremely nice of you to show how a Iron remover actually works! That nasty looking Benz! Is going to look like Brand New after you get done with it! Thanks again for another great video!
I like the green rc car wheels in the backround at 3:11! 😆 I think I'll stick with a q.d. for lube and a dedicated iron remover. Thanks Brian!
wash the wheel then spray, lets see if it is really necessary
Those wheels were really throwing a lot of brake dust, typical for the MB. But the D2002 did show the impact on the entire car, thanks for using a white car!
Paint safe right? I need to get some rail rust off my truck 💀
Brian, can you please leave a link for the rinse nozzle you're using? Thanks much!
Carzilla, my go to! I work not far from them, well did until the lockdown. Amazing selection of products and fantastic staff.
Fireball??? Something I would like to try. Thanks Brian.
I was told by a Meguairs rep at the Workd of Wheels that this isn’t meant for use with a clay bar. Glad I didn’t buy it though after seeing your review.
You need to try Iron Blaster from Malco! It’s the best I have tried. It’s $20 for 22 Oz. It’s very strong and smells worse then any other one I have tried but is far superior then the rest also. Just use outside! :) Would love your opinion on it.
Cody Boss That’s good to know. The lady I asked strictly said no but I kind of had a feeling she wasn’t sure and No was the safest answer! Haha Thanks for the Info
Either the label... or the rep from Meguiars...should be removed.🙂
Apex Detail I agree!
@@apexdetail85 This is late but I have a feeling that you're supposed to spray and rinse it off first than spray again to use with a clay bar. First to loosen and remove contaminates and second with the clay bar to pick up what is left on the surface.
Would this be ok for matte finish wheels? If not what would you recommend?
Beards and Cars it would work on satin finishes.👍
@@apexdetail85 thank you..ive aleays been scared to use anything but soap on my satin gunmetal matte finish wheels
Listen, I dont normally do reviews or anything like that but I had an issue with my G37 and I thought I was screwed.. with a capital F. Had issues with my brakes.. they were in dire shape, I ordered an upgrade online, brought to my mechanic and he told me they didnt fit. Ended up being that the caliper piston was stuck out of the hole a couple of mm. So I ran my brakes down to NOTHING while trying to figure out why the brakes listed for my g37xS didnt fit.. long story short.. rail dust or whatever you want to call it... literally over every last inch of my black beauty.. it was disgusting. Had a engine swap after it happened so I didnt have the car for a few months.. so it sat like that also.
I came across an eagle 1 product for black and plastidip that contained an iron remover.. barely made a dent.. did some research and found the meguires wheel cleaner that has the iron decontam agent in it.. bought it off the shelf instantly. They only had 1. Caught THIS stuff out the corner of my eye.. almost 30 bucks in autozone.. bought this too. Now, to make this long ass story as short as possible... this shit saved my car. Didnt use any clay at all. I did 2 foot sections with this stuff.. removed and dried.. then repeated that section with the wheel cleaner stuff. I wish I could post pics here. I thought my paint was done. I really did. This and the other megs wheel cleaner saved my car. Took me all day doing it with large spray bottles bc we have no hose where I live... so I def put in quite a bit of elbow grease but at the end of the day, guys, this shit saved my baby. No doubt about it. Hmu if you want to see the difference pics I took yesterday
Does Meguiars actually advertise this as a clay lube anywhere?
To me, the name "spray clay" just suggests it's an (if not 100% effective) alternative to clay.
Meguiar's D2002 Iron Remover Test. Did you try a second application of Meguiar's to see if it too found more iron? Did you try the other brand first and then hit that with Meguiar's? It would eliminate a few variables in your test. I found you while looking for Meguire's but will be watching a lot more of your videos.
What is the best chemical decon in everyone's opinion? I've tried this but it's no better than several cheaper iron removers I've used. I'm looking for the best and keep spending money trying to find it. Thx 🍻
Why not apply a second app on the car since it was required on the wheels? Or use the other product instead? If you still feel some contaminants, why wouldn't you versus dragging a wash mitt over them?
Man, I really like your video's. Always straight forward and unbiased.
Does the smell still linger after you rinse it off?Should I do this at a coin car wash so my neighbors don't have to smell it and when I get home strip wash it and claybar it?
I have a 2017 Ford Transit 350 with about an 18" roof above the windshield. Is it safe to spry this on and let it drip down the windshield ?
I’ve used it. Agree not as strong as Iron X or Dodo Juice Ferrous Dueller Iron Remover. But, it’s available locally at Advanced Auto and other parts stores and it’s inexpensive. So I would use it again.
It is really skinny when you agitate with clay or wash mitt. Agreed
I was in a rush so I had to buy this from Autozone thinking it was Meguiars version of IRON X from CarPro, Wish I would've watched this video or known this info before buying it. Great info thanks
Can you tell me what I need to use to detail my own car? Just basics. I’m just starting out! Thanks in advance. I love your videos. Wish you were in Texas:)
great vid brian...I too would pass on this...the megs ult wheel cleaner does a good job for less than half the price...I haven't used beasleys total decon yet....but it is supposed to remove almost all contaminants and lessen the need for claying...Jason(chi auto pros and luke Wilson - Wilson detailing) used it in a video...Jason liked it so much he began carrying it in his car supplies warehouse business....once warm weather is here t stay I plan on using the megs then follow up with the total decon to strip panels....then the f4 will go on be safe and well my friend
Quick question, have you ever put seal and shine over a thick paste wax? Like a topper over carnauba.
Byron Larson I would apply the other way around.
That's interesting. Well I dont work on cars much. I'm a yacht detailer and this job is an old 1995 Viking. It's old and abused and the gel coat was very thirsty. I put Collinite 885 " fleetwax" on it already. That's my go to for thirsty gel. It doesn't beadup like the S&S. Thanks for your input. The Vet is coming along nice. Well done sir
Accidentally let this dry and stick to my paint, left a haze behind after wash and dry. Meguiars customer support said I need to use their compound to remove it. Any other options/advice?
Interesting observation at 07:10 and 07:20 real true alien shape shifting occurs. Didja seeit?
Hi Apex Detail ! is it safe to use the meguiar's all purpose cleaner to clay bar the car ? can i spray from this product to do clay baring ??
I'll pass on this as a wheel cleaner, and continue using Eagle One's A2Z All Wheel and Tire Foam Cleaner.for my chrome wheels.
I know this video is a whopping 3 months old but is anyone out there able to find the Meguiar’s in stock anywhere?
Did u use iron remover on the wheels
Should I always soap and wash my car after using this product?
Would you do review of CG Citrus Wash and Gloss? I see a lot of reviews, but the guys are NOT professional detailers.
great comparison and product review good friend. work as well as megs all wheel cleaner or eagle one plastic black wheel cleaner?hope u and family are safe and doing well...🍻🍻
Does it safe for ceramic coated car?
Does it safe for plastic trim, chrome, headlights taillights?
I was thinking of picking this up to help clean wheels and decon the paint. But when I looked up on meguirers, it stated to not use on wheels hmm
I gave this stuff a try not long ago, and went ahead and used it as my clay lube with a synthetic clay puck. Id did pretty well from what I could tell but I wasn't sure at the time if that was the intention of the product. It claimed the sythetic clay can get sticky, but i didn't notice that with mine. Overall its not bad, you get more fl oz for the money with this one but its not as strong as other brands like ironx
Another fantastic vid. What is you're opinion on Nanoskin Iron Free? Stay safe. 👍
Does it have time limit how long you can leave it on the paint before it can do damage and it safe on chrome or plastic trim?
Possibly a Fireball Iron Burn vs Eagle One Iron Remover challenge and review?
Would be nice to see you rate say your top iron removers from best to lesser effectiveness. Ho doe Car Pro Iron X compare with all ones you worked with ? Another great video Brian. Love your white board explanation.
Oh shit
APEX mentioned Carzilla!!! Love that company
Love your videos bro they have helped me become one of the top detailers in my state
Hi all, do these products remove wax/sealants?
Hey Brian, any chance you would do a torture test between Fusso Coat and Bilt Hamber Double Speed Wax?
Would this work to remove water spots as a spray on product?
sound similar to dj ferro lube
when i was doing this , it dried quickly on sun. had to spray water
Man, I've been really enjoying your content. You don't seem to BS or buy into hype. Keep it up!
hey Brian seeing as we both use extreme do u know if they offer a iron remover. I think I asked before and they said no. but I haven't asked in a bit. also I just got in a 13 vette with 8k miles on it. totally has ur name on it buddy 😂. sad thing is I polished the whole car and when I went outside to check on it like a hour later a bird shit on it... was definitely not happy.
batmon26 I don’t think they do as of yet.
The name of this product is a bit strange 😆But, personally, in my clay lube I always add a part of iron remover.
what if you use a normal car shampoo instead does it compare ?
Hey Brian! You should try Optimum Ferrex with their clay towel or clay mitt. The great advantage of that combination is that you can do chemical AND physical decon in one step, since Ferrex can be used as a clay lube for the towel or mitt. You use a lot less product (only 2 sprays per panel and about 4 on the hood) as well as saving time, so moneywise this is unbeatable. A video of you in action about this could be real nice by the way! ;-)
I started that process, it's not bad.
@@bbdetailing9123 OK! What makes you say "not bad" rather than something more positive than that? Unsatisfied with that in any way?
@@MoiFidodido1966 Good question! I had wrote a bit more, but went back and took it out. Brain is worn out. Couldn't think of something more....productive(?) to say. Only tried that twice. It does save a ton of iron remover, for sure. Time? I saved maybe half hour. So yeah, it saves time over my other process. :)
@@bbdetailing9123 Allright then. In regards of efficiency, would you give it a thumbs up??
@@MoiFidodido1966 definitely.
What about inside the wheel? What about using wheel acid?
Nice
