Probably my favorite player of all time. God what a tragedy. Just noticed on this recording that Jason’s unique and distinctive tone is an exact replication of his quirky and fun personality.
The best there is in my opinion, unnatural talent and surpassed on a technical level by noone. Some of us are given gifts beyond our comprehension, jason becker is/was that for the guitar, was still to this day untouched in every way.

I think Jason only wrote "Drop in the Bucket" and "Showtime" and then changed "A Little Ain't Enough" from a keyboard song to a guitar song; but that song, and all of the others on the album had already been written by the time he joined Dave.
IMO, Vai's best work was with David Lee Roth. They made an excellent songwriting team. Vai wrote a lot of "Passion & Warfare" while on the "Skyscraper" tour, with David Lee Roth. Becker sounds great on these, and throughout "A Little Ain't Enough." Esp. on the title song, "Drop In The Bucket;" "It's Showtime;" "Lady Luck; "Baby's On Fire;" and "Tell The Truth." If "ALAE" had been cut down to traditional VH/Roth length -- 35:00 min - 40:00 -- classic album.
