I own the Flipout...and the phone works great! The touchscreen is responsive, the keyboard is pretty easy to use, plus it's speedy enough for games and multitasking!
Just found mine and it still works just charged it and been looking at all my old video's band text messages loved this phone in the day now have a Samsung z flip.
Such a small phone and it still includes a 3.5 mm jack but Iphone is 5 times bigger than this phone and still skips the 3.5 mm jack. That's innovation from apple for you.
I wish they would make a revamp of this model. Having just one, big touchscreen isn't always advantageous, especially when you need to feel the buttons.
I was reading Ron Amadeo's coverage of the new Moto Razer+ over at Ars and in the section discussing the cover screen's unique aspect ratio he mentioned the Moto Flipout in passing. So, I had to look it up. I thought this was an excellent review. I appreciated how low-key and not shouty the presenter was. And I really like this form factor. I think something like the Flipout could be successful in the present day with a minimal bezel screen and with each section, screen and keyboard, being enlarged by 2 - 2.5 inches diagonally.
It's so cute it isn't bulky to bring.. It also have nice features and design which everyone will love.. This is the first time I'm wanting to have a Motorola phone.
This thing was so cool, my dad worked for motorla and I got to play with prototypes and I got this to play with for a little while.. shame we never got this one in the states
Worked in the cellphone department of Walmart during college and I think pretty much everyone of these we sold got returned. Not surprising. I remember "Motoblur" being one of the most hated skins at the time as well.
Franco Rossel Yeah it was for sure, the worst skin back then. The fact that you couldn't use the phone at all without making or signing into a MotoBlur account made it impossible to just ignore on Moto phones.
I had a droid x back in the day. I don't remember Moto Blur being that bad and I don't think I even made an account with it. The only thing I remember about moto blur was that it was ugly af

I have the backflip and I'm in love with it! this came out just before and got panned! but it seems like a nice alternative phone! I kinda like the form factor. I might just get one used and use it for a while with smarttalk!!

It's actually pretty big and nice. You can type messages very easy and fast with this phone. I have it since 2011 and I still like it. It's a very fun mobile phone to have, too bad it didn't get Android 2.2 :(.
Just bought one. You can get them very cheap now as its about a year old design. I intend to use mine for Internet radio and access the web feature if it is any good! Its small size is what made me have 1. The Nokias I hare will be a backup and I suppose the poor battery life is easily fixed by attaching USB batteries.
I tend to shy away from phones that have hinge mechanisms like this. Flip/slide phones just aren't as durable as solid devices. Of course it looks flashy, and its impressive when put up against a normal solid device, but sooner or later the flip mechanism is going to loose its crisp feel and will begin to stick and grind on the hinge. Its like a drawer or a cupboard. You open and close it 50 times a day for instance, over time its going to wear down the mechanism and need replacing.
Give it a higher screen resolution which would result into 300ppi.bump up the processor to 1.2ghz, give the screen 16M colors instead of 256k and it would be an awesome phone I'd buy in an instant.
don't listen to the haters, but yeh you are a bit slow when you speak, its nice it just made the video longer so I could see the phone in action more thanks for the review
@TeodoraYork Try charging the phone for atleast 12-18 hours before using it , while using the phone , try not to use live wallpapers , off wifi , gps ,3G whenever not needed. Try downloading Juicedefender , it might help
I love this phone, its very cheap, very practical, and veeeeeery stylish, and I literally never pulled this phone out and not gotten a positive reaction from whomever I was sitting with. Plus its unique, most people have never seen a phone like this. The camera sucks though, prolly my only complaint, its like 3 pixels or something sad like that.

@Jammogears i noticed that too, i think it isn't well built. it looks like the phone it's going to break when sliding, the price is very good, but that problem should be fixed (sorry if there where mistakes)
Hey, Motorola 👋 this phone is more relevant in 2021. Release an updated version. Now it will be very slim with edge to edge display and yes a physical qwerty keyboard. It will be the only fone with a physical keyboard and it really works well in this form factor and square shape.
@fluteygurl0 sometimes the typing is slow too, though. Maybe it's just my phone. But it does help, and I do like that you can just start typing on this phone to search and don't have to go to a search box or anything.
