That's correct, and why the "Stradale" versions of this car must be a real trip. Just think: air conditioning; hydraulically opened roof slats to ease entry; and a crash box that demands double-clutching up AND down for each shift. Great commuter car...

I remember a 250LM that was for sale at Luigi Chinetti's Ferrari dealership in 1971, and I've seen inside other 250LMs as well. As I recall, the 250LM had a much more formal and typical Ferrari-looking dash with the big Veglia instrumentation. Has this dash been replaced for the sake of vintage racing? The only thing that looks OEM is the steering wheel and maybe the actual tach is original but hard to tell.

A great pity the full 100 cars were not laid down.
112 GT-40s were produced in the era.
    100 904s
I guess one can add the 12 or so 250,275, at 330Ps..
Ferrari could add the other 60 cars
As Jaguar and Shelby have done
    For RACING!
I got to tune the Ecuadorian LM in a garage out side AvonPark/Sebring one year.
Charlie Kolb's sky blue Dino was in the next bay....
HE overheard us talking Webers.... told us to help the kids next to him
His Dino was throwing oil all over, he had no time to help them.
They had great STEAKS and BEER from home...
HAD raced a Camaro... no Weber experience,,,
We got their LM to sing, but they broke their box..
Were hard in the solid disks...
I had warned them, so had an older Italian driver...
The HAD finished well at Daytona, previously...
But lost their Miami tuners to ALFA.. for the Tipo 33's..
Car went to The King of Sweden, I was told....
    1964-1972 was good times....
We were so lucky in FLA
    TWO races every year....
Then the oil crisis hit us HARD!
    Everything went IMSA.... Funny Cars
    No more Protos..

According to my research, this car is chassis number 6217. First owned by an Italian, Edoardo Lualdi, who competed mostly in hillclimbs successfully with it until mid-1966. It was returned to factory and was sold to a Candian, Michael McDonald, as a spare car for his other 250 LM, it then went through various owners from USA, Switzerland, Italy, New Zealand, and Germany, until it became part of the Collier Collection who owns it to this day....

HARD to believe all those 1600cc and 2.0 cars cleared off, though..

This is the same car model that was the last victory for Ferrari at the LeMans 24 Hours race in 1965, driven by Jochen Rindt and Masten Gregory . . . and since then, info has surfaced about Ed Hugus doing a driving stint, too. It came as a surprise the 250LM won the 1965 race, as it was not designed or built to be a top-tiered competitive prototype racer. Several sources have said that victory was achieved by Rindt and Gregory driving the car flat-out for over half the race. And according to the Jeff Allison article on the 1965 race, in the Sept/Oct 2018 issue of "Vintage Motorsport," there were telltale signs, on the tachometer, that the engine was run up to 9,000 RPM, which was above the 7,700 RPM race limit
When seeing the lack of comfort driving the car, along with the noise, . . . Rindt and Gregory were iron-men, indeed!

THAT was the evergreen NART #5823
STILL racing, and finishing in 1969
SAME number of laps at Daytona, Sebring and Lemans, year after year.
DESPITE getting airborne right in front of me at Daytona, in the D-Oval
one year... using a 907 Lang as a ski ramp...
No one got a scratch and the car raced again...
The LM is a 250,275,330P with a roof...
      Ran as a Prototype 1964 - 1967 and then as Sports 50/25 thru 1969
as the FIA refused homogulation, 1964.. as not enough were built
      Pissing Enzo off...
So they did the 275GTB and STILL won GT, that same year....
3rd OA Belgian GTB... I have my 1/43rd scale model right here...
(Ford DID lay down 112 GT-40s, at FAV...Slough..
      Porsche did more that 100 904s, 4s and 6s... a few 8s..)

We out here in Aus used to have one of these fantastic Ferraris. It was owned at the time by a motoring journalist/race driver (Dave McKay) under his race team Scuderia Veloce. Fangio famously took it for a drive at a track in the early 70s and slightly crashed it. It was fully repaired and eventually, sadly sold to someone in the US. I have some vague recollection that it ended up in Europe. What an orchestra of V12, straight cut gears and a bundle of webers. Pure music.

That 250 LM you're referring to ended up in the hands of Ralph Lauren. Apparently, on one internet article I read, the owner that sold the car still used to race it in historic racing, and wished that he hadn't sold it...

Good pilots (back in the day at least) knew about double declutch or even better, heel-and-toe downshifting, which is clearly not done here...
